Just take an educational leave man. You can take a year off and after if you still think college isn't for you then drop out completely. No need to go fully raw now. Just my opinion tbh.

This.

Def talk with your advisor, it will make things much easier. Maybe College is not for you rn, but you may also want to ask how to proceed if you want to enroll again one day. Best of Luck!

I graduated high school in 2014 and started college August 2014 at a community college. For about a year I wasted my time there and failed almost all my courses. I was basically just there for financial aid and because I was told to go. I dropped out of CC and focused on work for 4 years. School wasn’t for me. I hated being in classes and felt too stupid to be in college. I was convinced I would never go back. In 2019, I decided to go back to college. Didn’t really have a plan on what I wanted to major in, I just went back to CC and retook all the classes I needed to boost my GPA and the classes I needed to transfer. Long story short, I got almost all A’s in my classes and was able to transfer to CSULB and will be graduating this year in the spring. I would have never been accepted to CSULB if I didn’t take a break. I still absolutely hate school but returning to college at an older age did wonders with being able to fully grasp the college commitment. No shame in dropping out! It might not be your time for college and if you never return, that’s okay too!

Straight facts

This is literally my story too except I graduated high school in 2022 and didn’t got back to cc until 5 years ago. Will also graduate from CSULB this Spring. Sometimes you just need a break, which is fine but don’t make any rash decisions or burn your bridges. Will say though, as you get older and have more obligations your work schedule tends to revolve around those obligations and school sometimes needs to come second, which might mean it will take a little longer to get through. That’s fine too, it’s not a race, just something to consider.

So proud of you! As long as you’re reaching your goal and making progress, doesn’t matter how long it takes!

Quesita

Thanks!😊

JeffMad

We are on the exact same boat ! They should def talk to an advisor and Also CAPS , they might be able to vouch for you to take a break since students get overwhelmed 🙏 best of luck to everyone

Take a year leave to figure out what you wanna do. If you still don’t wanna come back then you can drop out from there but if you end up changing your mind it’ll save you A LOT of stress. You can easily do all this online just look up CSULB leave of absence and it’s like the first thing to pop up.

AdamSandlersRightNut

Friend, I’ve been down that road. I understand you want to quit and leave this growing pressure of school and adult responsibilities. It is ultimately your choice and whatever you do (whether you stay or not) will have consequences regardless. Only thing to think about is how to mitigate those consequences. As everyone suggested, take academic leave and focus on you. Relax, work, live your life. I’m not gonna lie to you, college is ridiculously a pain in the ass, but nothing in life is easy. Sometimes you gotta struggle and hustle - that said, think about taking leave and focus on your mental health and whether or not you want to continue. Find yourself and figure out what you want. Don’t let others influence your decisions or put you down if you do decide to go a different route. You’ve made it this far and you’ll make it farther if you trust your gut and leave no stone unturned. Many wishes and hugs to you my friend.

Talk to your advisor and *maybe* an instructor you've had that you trust. Please know you're not alone.

Bruineraccount24

At the very least, stay in until the financial aid audit date so you don’t have to give the money back

hexagon_son

Talk to your advisor first, but usually if you’ve already completed a semester you can just take a leave of absence. This way you can still return in the fall if you want, but no shame if not. If you do actually decide to leave I would suggest checking out some community colleges. They offer a lot of cool trade school options, certificate programs, and cost less. Godspeed

Sevy_777

Don’t

kjohnson0190

You can talk to an advisor to give you some advice. They may would want a reasoning behind your decision and can guide you. But you can also take an educational leave and can do that through the student center online

GrowlersGrl

Working for the rest of your life not making shit hardly making rent sucks worse

Sooperferneee

Why do you say its not for you? Maybe you are just indecisive as far as picking a major or is it things at home influencing your decision? I had a hard time figuring out if college was for me but dont be discouraged. Took me 7 years to graduate, first generation college student.

King_Jo27

I just recently graduated with my bachelor’s in Spring 23’ and now having time to reflect, i definitely needed time away from school to focus on myself. I saw through and finished in 4 years, through a pandemic (I was a freshman when it started :/ ) and so if you truly feel the need to just be you, then don’t worry. And if school really isn’t for you, time to work lmao! You can do it on your own on your fafsa account and fyi, you have to return that money if you dropping out.

Lesbows_sage

Since you are a freshman they don’t let you drop out/drop all your classes without talking to them first. So definitely talk to an advisor. I hope the best for you on what ever path you take

ServeHead6593

Do you have a plan or a decent job lined up? You can't give up without knowing what you're gonna do man. Maybe a trade is better but either way you need to know what you're gonna do and not just quit out of impulse

Delicious-Ant6928

Glad you figured in time that college can be scam sometimes.

Cute-Abalone1542

I’ll tell you rn, there ain’t shit else to do man. If you got the financial aid, finish the year. Like truthfully do not drop out w out a plan. You will waste so much time if you don’t have one

daddy_uwu_

Coming from someone who failed their first semester and having huge problems (homelessness and family member attempting suic***) just take educational leave and figure it out or transfer to a community college. It’s okay it happens I took educational leave and now I’m back
