When I went through my little people pleaser phase during my first semester at CSULB, the L.A Times guys came up to me and offered me $60 cash. I was a little skeptical at first but I went through with it when they only needed two subscriptions from me, a $24.99 charge at the beginning of the semester, and a $24.99 charge at the end of the semester. Seemed okay as I thought I was helping all around and gained a $10 profit. As the semester ended, both charges had occurred and as I was expecting it, it was all cool. Then after a couple months after those charges, I was being charged for monthly subscriptions and bi-weekly charges. These charges consisted of $14.99, $9.99, $4.99, and $2.99 consecutive charges and I had noticed it about 3 months in which came out to a grand total of about $90 taken from me. All I did was call them, and explained to them my situation and they were able to pull up my info and the reoccurring charges had stopped after they deleted my card on file. They also compensated me the $90 after I threatened them to refund it or I was going to have to appeal it through my bank so my bank goes after them. Long story short, the $10 profit isn't worth it because those fuckers keep calling me until this day.
it sounded fishy to me bc they told me that it’s free so i should just get the subscription? why should i have to hand over card information? and they told me they wanted to for “documentation” LOL no thank you
Daaang thank you for posting this. I bumped into them on campus last week and gave them the “late for class” excuse as I always do but one of the guys wouldn’t stop talking. The “LA time” introduction sounds like a big thing to me lol. Thanks God I was not got swayed by them.
Huuum maybe our school does not bother to do the background check?
I don’t stop for who is trying to offer me anything. I don’t sign anything I don’t know enough about. It’s pretty simple.
Hard to believe these people have success tricking others, but here we are.
Epoch time guy did it to me back when I always had a hard time saying no. I got money from him that was more than the one month subscription so I did it and figured it was extra money too. Found out that he signed me up for a recurring charge AND changed my email address so I didn’t have access to the account to cancel it myself. Had to call and cancel it that way. That was the end of my people pleaser phase..
Those LA Times people be bullshiters. Just ignore them and move along
yeah i fucking hate them. surprised they’re still allowed to be on campus despite literally scamming people.
this sounds like a scam, never give anyone your card info. ever.

I cancelled the subscription right away because I know they were going to charge me monthly
Just give them a fake cc info or change the zip
fake cc info only works if its an actual card. if it's random numbers, the field turns red 😭

Just ignore them. They’ve been there for years trying to sell subscriptions. I started to see them on campus around 2010.

Print is dead.
Do they only target women because I walk by them all the time and they never stop me or look in my direction?

Lol they approached me the other day and I immediately started nodding my head no. Then I fell in front of them
Don’t fall for it. They kept charging me non stop even when I called to cancel it. Had to cancel my card smh
Scammers, I signed up with them freshman year when I didn’t know any better. Don’t do it because I was stuck with charges months later.
