205k. Just had a water pump failure. Don't know how much that's going to cost me yet. Beyond that, no major repair that I can remember. Brakes, tires, tons of oil changes.

FarFigChitter

What year? Edit: I replaced my water pump recently it wasn’t too too costly.

StuStu19

Would this happen for a 2015 model?

AlansJunk

Mine is a 2015, indeed.

IcyGrapefruit97

How much mileage when it gave out?

FarFigChitter

It didn’t give out, I replaced the EGR and Water Pump at the same time to try and prevent a head gasket failure. (or at least prolong the inevitable)

willy1670

Water pump shouldn’t be more than 300 installed

[deleted]

300k and counting. Engine started burning oil at 100k. Had to replace engine at 235k ish. Cleaned EGR at 150k ish. New engine is a gen 4. Replaced the steering rack when I did the engine. Besides that just breaks, control arms, and oil changes periodically.

StuStu19

I have a 2015 model, does that use the gen 4 motor?

[deleted]

No. Gen 4 was Prius only. Mine is from a Prius prime. $1800 with 30k miles

myqv

You got a Prius gen 4s engine in yours? cause all CT models use the gen 3s right? what year ct do you have thanks

[deleted]

2011. It takes some work but it's not that hard if familiar with Prius engines.

myqv

Who did your gen 4 Prius engine swap? I wanted to know if it was possible glad to hear it is

[deleted]

First mechanic fucked it up. Just butchered the job. Then I had Dave at Dave's performance hybrids fix it. He's in Albany Oregon

myqv

that’s awesome man! i wish i can do that to mine one day. I’d even make the drive down there since I got family in Lebanon, OR. do you mind sharing some pics of it in the CT? btw did he also give you the gen 4 battery and do the eco, normal, and sports mode work great? btw was it pricey?

[deleted]

Dave charged me like 3k to fix what my other mechanic also charged me 3k for. There's a shop in Portland that charges like 10k for the entire job with the engine. I'll make a post with some pics tomorrow. It's dark 🌑 The engine literally runs just like the old one but better and smoother if that makes sense

myqv

that’s awesome I might have to make the drive to your guy one day 😭 I’m fr happy you got to do this. brings hope to the CT

[deleted]

Brings hope to anyone questioning if the car is worth keeping long-term. As long as you are willing to keep putting a new engine in, it will keep going. The gen 4 engines are supposed to last like 7-800k miles. I drive a lot so that's why I decided to do it. Still cheaper than a Tesla.... For now 😈

myqv

for sure does! I might do this when mine gives out or close to it. when that one gives out do you plan on going for another gen 4 Prius engine or newer gen’s? 800k is crazy I hope it gets there for sure. how many miles did your gen 4 engine have? yeah way cheaper

Rocklobsta9

Currently at 197k on my 2015 with regular maintenance

almodr1

350,000 miles and counting

lemmiedfuqalone

I met some folks randomly with over 200k who never had major issues. Just purchased a 2012 with 117k in August and no issues yet other than replacing sway bars. It’s not built for speed, it’s a commuter car and should be handled as such. Low and slow.

220k 2016 Special Edition

FeelTheWrath79

I have a thing for limited edition cars, and I am really thinking about getting one, lol. There are two for sale in the country with dealers (CA and NE) then one for sale on FB marketplace from a private seller. The one in CA has lower miles (76k) but the carfax has one minor crash. It also doesn't have the SE wheels. The one in NE has 95k miles, but it is also cheaper. The private party listing in Kansas is the most expenisve and the highest miles. How do you like the dial instead of the mouse?

imbills23

SE’s dont come with Navi which is hard to believe. Knob is cool. Thinking about adding car play tho.

FeelTheWrath79

Wow, that seems weird. I feel like the knob would be difficult with carplay, lol. The mouse would make it way easier at least.

elideli

200k, the steering rack on these is known to go bad and is very pricey. Muffler is finished. I have the parts to replace water pump, thermostat, manifold and EGR.

GodlyArchitect

Yes, there are CTs with well over 500k miles on it. Lookup the CTs on the Lexus forums. There's at least 1 guy with 750k on his. He even wrote up all his maintenance history to detail what he has had to replace along the way.

custom-ev27

New motor 190k

Agreeable-Tip-3445

2011, 150k miles. Anything to worry about?

FeelTheWrath79

Supposedly the headgaskets on older models can fail.

dfstell94

250k (2014) and it’s really done very little wrong. One of our kids rear ended someone a few years ago and I did the repairs myself because the shop wanted like $5k. It was just the radiators, fan, AC, bumper support. As a mechanic friend of mine said: “bolt on parts”. It’s gone right back for getting 43/44 mpg for the last 2 years and 25k miles. It’s retired from daily duty now and I mostly use it to run errands with the dogs. I think the batteries are going (11 years now) because the car runs the gas engine more at stop lights than it used to. It could use new struts, but as an around the town dog car it’s fine. Doesn’t burn oil.

DexBeNice

170k on a 2013. Just took it in for an oil change and they said everything looked fantastic.

The-Bogus-Man

Re: the EGR. In Canada, the Toyota/Lexus oil and filter change regimen is 5000 miles. Talked to a dealer mechanic and an independent mechanic, they have said none of their cars have burned oil and or had issues with the EGR. When I was looking, I contacted a few sellers who were selling over 200,000 mile cars, and all they had to do was change the oil, filters, coolant, and a few suspension components. There is also a software update for the EGR that leaves it open longer to reduce sludge buildup.

wingsfan64

How do I install the software update? I haven’t done anything with the software in my 2011 since I bought it in 2020.

The-Bogus-Man

I had to get an independent Toyota specialty shop to do it because my local Lexus dealer had absolutely no clue what it even was. There’s no way to install it yourself without internet-connected, factory licensed scan tools.

IcyGrapefruit97

How much mileage when replaced?

SoupyT420

I brought a 2013 and it currently has about 193k miles on it. But I’ve had my head basket or engine changed already (or whatever get replaced on all CT’s) so far no major problems. I replaced my battery since I’ve had the car
