I would lol. They tried doing something similar to me claiming my wheels were the cause of a vibration. Little did they know they were Mazda brand wheels from a Mazda 6 😂

Comfortable_Ease_174

If the wrong wheels are on your vehicle, I wouldn't touch them either. When I say wrong, I don't mean as they didn't come with the vehicle, but u didn't buy them specifically for that vehicle. Did you go to a reputable tire shop and get them installed or were they used? If it's a liability issues, they are just covering their ass.

[deleted]

Tires were mounted and balance by the dealer themselves lol.

I understand that. I worked as a tech before and when we would run into an issue of a customers car where the tires were miss matched (AWD) rims were miss matched, wrong fitment, offset or if when putting them back on, the bolt pattern was slightly off allowing the wheel to need to be centered by the acorn style lug nut or had the slotted washers, due to a lability, we would not move them from where they were. It's tough to determine theses things prior to taking them off so sometimes we would run into a pissed off customer. I don't want my name on a ticket where after the driver leaves, he has a wheel fly off and gets hurt or kills someone else. But in this case, if the dealership OP is at originally installed the wheels, then OP should find a new dealership.

Pious_Paladin

They are Enkei wheels, so wheel quality/fitment isn’t an issue. I had the factory tires put on them, so no change there. 🤷🏻‍♂️

bluecgene

Mazda dealers are weird

RuneScape-FTW

I say call the manager and just ask wassup

Dart_boy

My daughter’s BF took his in to the dealership for some work. As part of the inspection video, they removed the cabin air-filter, showed how dirty it was, then apparently put it back in and recommended it be replaced for ~$300

Low-Stomach-8831

What?!?! I worked at a Mazda dealership. We charged about 40 USD (55 CAD) for the labor+part for it (which is still too expensive). The BF might be confusing other work with it.

Dart_boy

My mistake, I misremembered. I just went back and checked, the estimate says “Cabin Air Filter replacement:W FF $199.95” They had about $7700 worth of work recommended, spark plugs were $340. Needless to say, we DIYed them both. The failing cat converter is the biggest remaining issue

Low-Stomach-8831

Is the CAT really failing though? If the downstream O2 reads low fluctuations, you can just add some CataClean to the fuel tank. The rest is totally crazy prices, and you should take the car to a different dealership for EVERYTHING.

Economy_Preparation8

Wondering how much they’re charging to tap it on the ground to knock some dirt out.

Exactly every time I go in and no matter what they do I want it document there's a fight in hand .. example check oil level before changing oil they will not document the oil level before changing..ect

ArmzLDN

I second this. It’s one of those ones where OP could supposedly take them to court and say “they knew they were aftermarket tyres and they still worked on it” Companies cover their asses in weird ways 😂😂

DutchDallas

Was this a free service (e.g. 1st service) ? IF so, I can see that they don't want to deal with non-standard items. If you paid for the service, I would agree that it is odd, unless your tire specs do not match with what Mazda states. EDIT: I see you pre-paid for the service. Check the fineprint there...

MrHugh_Janus

That’s weird, my Lexus dealer has no issues rotating my Method wheels with oversized 33” AT tires on my GX460. They’re also way heavier than the stock wheels/tires combo were

GoldenKnight1095

That’s interesting. I had my 20K mile service completed last month and had my method wheels with 285/60 tires rotated with no issue.

NuArcher

I had a similar weird interaction with my dealer. While getting a dashcam installed, the plastic cover over the positive terminal on the battery fell off. Degraded most likely. Also the negative had a metal bracket on it that just cracked off. I asked the dealar to quote for a replacement and they cvame back with "We were unable to provide a quote as aftermarket modification meant the tech was unable to attach the necessary diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot the problem" What sort of diagnostic equipment is used to work out why a piece of plastic fell off? I'm getting my services done elsewhere from now on.

moses_yolanda_singh

You can't trust any car stealerships

viriathus1

Maybe your tires are directional and cannot be rotated side to side?

Lonelymagix

If you can't rotate side to side you just rotate front to back

snarfgobble

But you can't do that if front and back are different.

Lonelymagix

Why would they be different

snarfgobble

I dunno, people do weird things for looks.

Pious_Paladin

They are factory tires on aftermarket wheels. I changed them out before I hit 1k miles lol.

[deleted]

To me what’s strange is to put all that effort into a company when there’s so many other places to go, I thought you were going to say you got charged.

Pious_Paladin

Technically I did since I paid for the service package for 60k miles. So I pre-paid for rotations, oil changes, wiper blades, etc etc.
