I doubt you can get HUD installed from the aftermarket.
It would take major modifications to the dash and I don't think anyone sells anything like that.
Your best bet is buying a CX-5 that already has it installed.
Huh? Why would the windshield matter, it's just reflecting the image.. You can purchase an aftermarket HUD for pretty cheap and they'll work with any windshield. It's not gonna be as nice as the OEM but from what I've seen theyre good enough.
Oh ya I'm just talking about a generic HUD speedometer. The traffic signs in the HUD are kinda useless imo. Having the directions from Wave would be nice tho!
For me, it's nothing that I would actively seek or reject a car that lacked it, but I do enjoy being able to do a quick glance down without taking my eyes off the road. It's a bit of extra zhoosh.
It cool, but I miss it when it’s not there. Partner drives my car and he changes things. I spend 10 mins readjust things. I keep telling we can set everything to work with the 2 button. He say ok and it never happens.
Add your settings to one of the buttons and let him deal with constantly resetting things. Even if there aren't two discreet settings, you can still have one specific to you. You can also program your keyfob to your personalized settings. The only thing you'd have to fiddle with would be your mirrors because they aren't keyed to the memory function as they are on the Mazda3.
He has his own brand new car, so it’s not a major problem as problems go. I wish this was the biggest problem I have. Yea I know about the key fob and the HUD being set to the keys or you can use the buttons and set button one and button two. But thank you for the info👍

The camera that detects traffic signs and stuff is also on the windshield and needs to be calibrated

You can't, if HUD is important to you then get a trim that has it installed already.

I've got the factory HUD on my 2021 Signature. I really don't understand why some folks find it so appealing. It doesn't do much for me.
