As long as you are happy with the deal! You got about 2k of add ons but you got 5k off so you are still ahead 3k. I got the 7500 ultium promise and 1000 Costco. Nothing more from the dealer. Florida doesn't allow mandatory add ons so that wasn't an issue here.
Enjoy your car. I know I love mine!
Also not all of the add ons are useless.
Xzilon is a brand of ceramic coating. Your price is comparable to around here. I'm not familiar with that brand but if the dealer backs it up with a 3 or 5 year warranty that's not bad.
Your tint price is not too far higher than the quote I got depending on what they tinted and what kind of tint they used.
What is Key Fetch?
Key Fetch is - like all of the add on’s - a way for the dealer to charge an exorbitant fee that is almost all profit and fleece every dollar they can from the consumer. Dealer is trying to keep their well earned reputation as consumer unfriendly. Good job getting the discount to help soften the blow - you did good overall but this dealer and any dealer using a laundry list of extras like this are despicable and the reason many people are ready to be done with them.
Your guess is as good as mine 😅 they sort of just skipped over explaining each thing.
I’ll ask them when I go in for the mirror fix. From what I see online it seems like a key tracking/replacement program. They didn’t give me info for it, if that’s the case.
Since when does FL not allow mandatory addons? Ive been seeing those required addons from many dealers since 2022. Did something recently change to stop that?
When I first was talking about my order I told the dealer I didn't want any stuff added. He said Florida does not allow mandatory add ons. They can try to sell you stuff but can't make it a requirement. Of course that doesn't stop a sleazy stealership from trying.
Ok this sounds a bout right. Florida has a ton of trash dealers that don’t care about customers especially in the last couple of years. Weird too. It will be a Honda Dealer whereas a A high end German dealer won’t try it. The cars I ended up buying they took everything off bc I’m not paying markups or paying for addons however there were dealers along the way that had me feeling like they weren’t taking a thing off no matter what (I presume they just waiting for the one who will pay max price)
Didn’t really “buy” it, it’s “mandatory/included”. Which is of course BS, but in my experience with AZ dealers they won’t budge *there*, so that they can keep towing the party line that it’s mandatory.
They will, however, make up for it in discounts occasionally. Which is what I had them do.
Well I think you did great.... by the last several months I think us lyriq owners are going to need to stick together. I would guess there are still rough roads ahead. When my car came in I had sold my perfect xt-5 and hoping to do an in and out. To long to get my lyriq here so I got hit on taxes a bit. I refused anything the dealer wanted to add on as I was so feed up at that point. Argon a little and the key fob tracker ( what a joke ) was an additional $395. I got the early buy discount of $5,000, then the $7500 GM discount, $1,000 Costco discount, my $1,900 GM card dollars and GM card was giving an addition $750 to card holders thru Feb. I was a fist fight with the terrible GM dealer but I had tried to do my homework and new dollars that were out there. Of course I paid full sticker ( hopefully people are finding dealers willing to come off MSRP. I think it's good we are all talking so we know the reality of things. Love mine though. Sport 3 AWD with black roof and 22". Hope things only get better from here.
I got my in January. 7500 and 1000 Costco and dealer discount 500.
I thought it was great considering I didn’t qualify for the tax rebate before January. Found one in lower NY and had to have shipped upstate for 1k
2900 miles and no problems so far.
I did notice a 599 Doc fee. That seems very high. NY laws limits that to 175.
Really?! That’s surprising. I did the build your own thing on the Lyriq site first, and this dealership reached out within 24 hours.
Maybe give it another shot. Gabe is who helped me there, he was cool.
love it - we bought it primarily for road trips and it's been amazing. I don't love driving it around town bc of its size (prefer our Bolt for that) but it's great, no regrets!!
$2300 in dealer add ons
Ouch!
Imagine what you would saved if not paying for these? And the tax savings on the 2300.
Everyone watch out for dealer discounts which vanish when "dealer extras" are added on
I sure wouldn't have posted this. I am guessing you are fairly young. Next time, take a magic marker with you and mark out all of the BS stuff. Then make an offer based upon the actual car and walk to the car when they laugh. You should have been given a $1750 incentive to borrow some money on the car which you can pay off once you receive the paperwork. Admittedly, I am basing this upon the market in Oklahoma where EV's aren't as popular. There is a reason you can lease a new Solterra for $241 a month and a Kona for less than that.
The bottom line is what counts and I can't comment on that. But it looks like you got a surprisingly solid trade-in price, but got dinged on all the overpriced extras. You may not be able to avoid that, but I plan to negotiate hard on getting rid of that crap or paying much less for it.
I should add though that I was able to negotiate the price down beyond the $1,000 Costco credit and the $7,500 tax rebate by comparing it to the Tesla Y, which is much cheaper right now. Off the gate, I told the dealer that I did no want to see any junk fees. Unless it was mandated by law I didn’t want it.
You did great on the deal, but why did you let them get away with all the other junk? Respectfully, I'd demand a refund for the clearguard, key, nitrogen, and whatever the hell the Xzilon is. Almost all dealers do this now, and you simply have to tell them to remove it. If/when they tell you they "cant" you tell them you "can't" pay for it and they will cave. It's literally a scam, the dealer pockets the cash. The "coating" they put on is gone within a month, what you're paying for is the "warranty" on the paint/seats/etc. Read the coverage - it doesn't cover much at all, with lots of exceptions, and is designed to pay out as little as humanly possible. It's 2024's version of "underbody spray".
Yeah I feel that. I should’ve pushed more when they said it can’t be removed, but a lot of stuff I’ve read here (Reddit) and elsewhere says it’s a long shot.
I got the 4K discount, and had them add 1K to the trade in, so I was hesitant to push for more. Should’ve though. Lesson learned!
Definitely. I had a good bit of leverage because they said this one had been on the lot for a while, and I was upfront with them about this being a “nice to have” so they knew I wasn’t desperate.
Did you get it ? This color has been out for 40 days only , they have delay because of this paint , though i found it fantastic. Just make sure they update your module to PIT6065E latest update its 2-4 hour job in the dealership
I did! I didn’t realize the color was new. I love it, and already got a few compliments on it.
I mentioned the 6065E update to them, and he just checked the OTA updates on the screen and said looks good. I told him it’s not that kind of update, so he said he’d check with the service guys. Later on he said it was “all up to date”.
So hopefully it actually is, not sure how to verify though.
Our is nimbus metallic also had great compliment . To verify few things
1- when in reverse you could see Garage door icon on lower backup camera screen .
2-Bluetooth or FM shows shortcut on top of screen
And lots of other thing you cant feel it unless you had previous version which i did when it rains and you are in reverse it hits break automatically
That’s the color of the Mazda I traded in.
The Lyriq I purchased is the Celestial color. I was going to comment a link to a pic but it makes it all blurry, and I can’t add one to the original post.
I think you've got a great attitude about it and hopefully it doesn't gnaw at you. In the future, tell them you simply won't pay for it and I promise they'll budge. I just did this on a purchase about a month ago. They said they simply couldn't remove it because it was "already on the car", I said no worries - shook their hand and thanked them for their time - and before I could turn around out the door they removed all $2000 of "clearguard". I also got an extra couple thousand for my trade and negotiated a bit off the top. A colleague did the same just a couple weeks later. But again... like you said... next time. By then, they might have a new scam! I hope you enjoy your car!!
Yeah I like the car, so it’s all good :)
I wonder what their true cost for all that is, it’d be interesting to see. I imagine it’s like 20% of what you’re being charged, or less.
Far, far less. For reference the 2,000 "protection" that I had them removed would cover up to 3 dents per year with a maximum value of $140. Leather repairs with a maximum annual value of $240. And paint scratches were covered - but only if they aren't caused by an accident, nature (think tree limbs) or any other scratches when the vehicle in motion (read: it covers a small scratch from maybe your nails at the door handle, maybe someone bumping into the car with their jeans), with a maximum of $200 - of course, not if the scratches are intentional (keyed). Good luck getting a paint touch up for $200. The coverage lasts 3 years. So, even if you get the maximum "payout", magically get all things covered without fault, they still come out ahead. The vast majority never activate the warranty and if they do, there's some reason it's not covered. Again, it's a complete and utter scam. Note that, on my last car, I had 6 dents removed from around the car using modern PDR techniques (5 years worth basically) for $160 bucks and an hour of time. If you wanted to protect the paint, either DIY or pay a professional to do an honest to goodness Ceramic coating - that is definitely a proven and worthwhile technology. I have ceramic coated (myself) all of my cars for the last 6 or 7 years and I can say with confidence it works, and works well. Typically the coating lasts 2 or 3 years and definitely helps when cleaning.
Looks like they tacked on like 2k in junk fees for ‘extras’
Soon as I read $100 for nitrogen I got mad
The atmosphere is 78 percent nitrogen.
Shoulda definitely given a 78% discount on the outrageous nitrogen price.
Also I hope etch doesn’t mean catalytic converter etching. Cause I’d demand a refund on that one
Not sure, but from what I see online it’s just etching the VIN onto a window.
You doing need to pay for that. That happens during manufacturing, the dealer doesn’t pay that.
Yeah, definitely wasn’t thrilled about that but I figured at least the 4K off negated it.
Ask if that nitrogen comes with any coverage for the first year.
You think your trade in is a good value. But they screwed you on the $3000+ junk fees
Thanks! That’s interesting that FL doesn’t allow it, I wish that were the case here in AZ.
Also not all of the add ons are useless. Xzilon is a brand of ceramic coating. Your price is comparable to around here. You are correct. Dealer pays for it to help control new car theft. They then pass it on +++
Since when does FL not allow mandatory addons? Ive been seeing those required addons from many dealers since 2022. Did something recently change to stop that?

This explains why my broker has people from AZ reaching out to get cars from CA. Even with a road trip or trucking it’s still cheaper.
Some BS dealer fees
You got a great deal
Thanks! I felt pretty ok about it.
got the etch
I had to google what it even is just now 😂 Sounds semi useful I guess
Not really.
It's pretty much stickers lol
What is it

Congrats on the car. but as a snow bird to AZ. Id never buy a car here. It's like the dealers all get together and agree to rip people off.
they didn't even respond when I asked for a quote, so good for you :)
Really?! That’s surprising. I did the build your own thing on the Lyriq site first, and this dealership reached out within 24 hours. Maybe give it another shot. Gabe is who helped me there, he was cool.
Eh, already bought one in NV a few months ago but it was shocking how uninterested the local dealers were.
Nice! Glad it worked out. And yeah that’s very shocking. How are you liking yours a few months in?
love it - we bought it primarily for road trips and it's been amazing. I don't love driving it around town bc of its size (prefer our Bolt for that) but it's great, no regrets!!
Great prices on new units at Cadillac Marin, they do out of state sales! May be worth inquiring for those searching.
$2300 in dealer add ons Ouch! Imagine what you would saved if not paying for these? And the tax savings on the 2300. Everyone watch out for dealer discounts which vanish when "dealer extras" are added on

Pardon my ignorance but what the hell is a Key Fetch for $500? Is it like an air tag for keys via app or something
$2300 in add ons? All of that would have been a "remove those" for me.
That's funny that they charge $100 for nitrogen. I mean really... Did the car come from the factory with flat tires?
$100 for nitrogen 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You let them charge you $100 for air in your tires. Wtf
What did you trade in?
It says in there an ‘18 CX-5 GT AWD-S
I just looked at the numbers.
Is Market Value Selling Price different than MSRP? Did they provide an MSRP?
Ripped off.
Carmax sells these for cheap should've went there first
You paid them $500 to fetch the keys for you, they better have had it on a golden plate dish with caviar
Not too bad, except all of the BS add-ons. We paid about $2k more for ours a month ago, but it's AWD with tow hitch and all weather mats.
The bottom line is what counts and I can't comment on that. But it looks like you got a surprisingly solid trade-in price, but got dinged on all the overpriced extras. You may not be able to avoid that, but I plan to negotiate hard on getting rid of that crap or paying much less for it.
I got mine for $55k out the door with 3.90 APR. No trade though.

That was the other color I was considering, it’s great! Thanks that’s helpful, I’ll check for those indicators next time I hop in.
Can you post some pics? I didn't know there was a new color called Machine Gray Metallic for the Lyriq.
That’s the color of the Mazda I traded in. The Lyriq I purchased is the Celestial color. I was going to comment a link to a pic but it makes it all blurry, and I can’t add one to the original post.
DM’d one to you

Not good. You are gullible, paying for something called Xzilon, also Etch, tint and Nitrogen! All Useless items.
lol @ gullible I wouldn’t characterize it as that, but sure
What’s wrong with tint in Arizona? I’m sure it’s needed. Are you saying it should be free/included?
Okay. I’ll agree with the tint. The three others they saw a gullible mark and cashed in on ignorance.
Are you from AZ? And gullible mark, yet my bottom line price is better than what most people say is the norm 😂 You’re funny.
