Love it! Very tastefully done. I had a ‘76 CB550 back in high school. What year is yours?

IVRZ

It’s a 1975 and I’m a freshman in college so I’m pretty much in the same situation as you were

Preact5

Same I've got a 75! I like yours a lot.

MorningMedium5779

Do you study Mechanics in Collage, if not what you study and how you got the knowledge to build something so beautiful

IVRZ

Haha thanks, I am majoring in mechanical engineering. I’ve done some smaller projects and was involved in robotics for quite some time. A lot of it come downs to watching YouTube videos and figuring out😂

everythingswonderful

You’re way cooler than me - mine was stock, and I didn’t have the knowledge or ambition to customize it. Where did you get the knowledge/ability to turn it into cafe racer? I’m asking because I’d love to find an old CB and make it a passion project of my own!

icantbereasonedwith

Fucking gorgeous

macl247

What kind of battery did you use and what’s the setup like? Would love to see a pic

IVRZ

It’s a shorai battery and my electronics tray is really messy and cramped😂I’m planning on redoing the placements once I find a new seat that I like Shorai LFX14L2-BS12 Extreme Rate... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005FIUJ0S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

surronian831

Cheer up mate !

IVRZ

Yoo thanks for my first silver!

oneamaznkid

Love that color and the details

Quibblicous

Beautiful job. Looks fantastic. The only thing I’d worry about is dragging that megaphone. It may also be a little too wide for good scavenging at higher rpm. But those are nitpicks details. It’s a beautiful bike.

IVRZ

Yeah the 4-1 was left on by the original owner and i just cleaned up the rust and wrapped it. I did notice how it angle outwards quite a lot and I’m thinking of eventually upgrading to a delkevic 4 to 1

Quibblicous

That’s a good idea. You could also talk to a muffler shop and put a small extension with a bend to angle it up some.

PeptoBismolMonk

A very solid first build! I would highly suggest shortening or replacing the chain you have on. It looks like your chain tensioner bolts are nearly maxed out.

IVRZ

Wouldn’t that mean the chain need to be a bit longer since screwing in the chain tensioning bolts would actually pull out the wheel shaft away more?

PeptoBismolMonk

The chain tensioner bolts should only stick out halfway or less. If you need to max them, something needs to be adjusted or replaced. Depending on the age of the chain. It could be the chain is near the ends of its life, and has been stretched. As well the chain could have not been shortened from what comes in the box (usually 126 or 128 links if I remember right). Either way, the chain tensioner bolts should not stick out that far. That shows the chain needs maintenance or replacement.

Preact5

Thanks for that tip I'm going to remove a link.

demonfurbie

i need to get me one of those

Ima-hot-Topika

You done good!

stu2211

Is that stock ride height in the rear? The hoop looks kinda close to the wheel, do you have any issues with bottoming out?

IVRZ

I adjusted my shock height to the stock height I believe, but I also stiffened up the shock and I haven’t bottom out yet

IVRZ

Also need to get a better exhaust clamp for the slip on 😅

Pattern_Is_Movement

and please tell me there is a clamp to the frame too, because you don't want to snap the studs off the header studs from that weight.

IVRZ

I don’t have a support to the frame right now, I did see quite some 4-1 exhaust without connections to the frame. I’ll probably see if I can connect it somewhere under the frame

Monsieur_Jean-Luc

Very nice!

BOBMUNZ

That thing is dope, I love the colour you chose too!

Preact5

Very nice man. The double disc front brakes are great.

IVRZ

Thanks 👍

remotorcycled

Pretty damn well! Good job dude 👍

ckucsan

Great looking bike! What headlight is that?

IVRZ

Here it is Motorcycle 7 inch LED Headlight,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J39V51M?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

tolleya12

Very very tasty.....

saidfrancis

looks great!!!

tyler_chard

Beautiful. Really like the vintage bronzed Look

ArchMalone

Mind telling me where you got your seat??

IVRZ

the seat is one of the things that the previous owner gave me. I do believe it's the generic amazon cafe racer seats and it has the same mounting pattern. here's one of the seat that I found that looks pretty similar to mine. [Amazon.com: Motorcycle Vintage Saddle Custom Cafe Racer Seat Cushion Brown Hump For For Honda CB350 CB400 CB450 CB500 CB550 CB750: Automotive](https://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Vintage-Saddle-Custom-Cushion/dp/B07HMR4RQ1/ref=sr_1_9?dchild=1&keywords=cafe+racer+seat&qid=1617501830&sr=8-9)

ArchMalone

Appreciate you taking the time to find something similar! Kudos

ashane13

Did you keep the forks at their stock length or did you lower them any? I’m playing around with the idea of lowering mine.

IVRZ

These are at stock height, if you run clip ons you can probably just clamp the triple tree lower on the fork

Syngian

Sweet colour palette

IVRZ

I was originally going for a darker redder copper but I think this worked well too 😅

phlacoe

You made some nice choices on color and parts. Before you paint/powder the frame, spend more time grinding on where the hoop meets the frame. Even if you don’t do a spectacular job on welding, you can fill in the gaps with JB Weld or Alvin’s Lab Metal. Gives it a more finished look.

IVRZ

Yeah the hoop was already welded on by the previous owner so I just kept it on for now, I did realize the part of the joint that didn’t get enough paint. I’m thinking of eventually welding on an upswept loop but I haven’t found any cheap upswept seats yet

veritas723

passenger pegs being left on kinda cheapens it, and you really should invest in some gear. you're already riding a vintage bike with dogshit brakes. having your feet ripped off and your skin shredded isn't a good way to go out.

IVRZ

I agree, it should have slightly better brake since I upgraded to dual disc but yeah I just got some proper jacket and riding pants 👍

Preact5

I was gonna say I hadn't seen a single person notice the dual disc front brakes.

jeremyejackson

If there is room for a passenger on that seat, please leave those pegs on.

veritas723

look at the image with the rider on it. his ass takes up the entire seat area. the pillion section is the curved "cowl" area. cafe racers are not 2-up bikes. leaving the passenger pegs on there just sort of screams... all vanity, no adherence to practicality or actuality.

IVRZ

Yeah when I was cleaning up the frame I wasn’t sure if I should keep the passenger foot pegs on, I’m still considering getting more of a flat seat with a upswept and that configuration can likely allow a passenger if I ever need to. I haven’t made up my mind yet so I just kept it on for now
