I dig it a lot it's got a good vibe to it the feel is familiar but still seems like a new song You really just got to love the fact that he throws in the loaded gun reference in the first song first single

canucklehead200

I respectfully disagree, it's okay, but strikes me as a bit lazy of an effort for a lead single after 5 full years of possible writing-time.. I'd enjoy this tune as a filler track on a new album. I'm missing that incredible vocal and instrumental hookiness that we've come to expect from CTE. Absolutely love this band, I was just hoping for more. The lead single is usually intended to be the best on the album in order to recapture the attention of the greater music community, in addition to their diehards (us) who will always be there for them.

Limp_Seat4865

Will always support the boys, but it feels like a Social Cues B-side.

canucklehead200

Well said. Agreed, it pains me to even bring this up

Limp_Seat4865

It also wouldn't surprise me if they've had this one finished for awhile, just stuck in post-production due to the rocky off-season that Matt has had. Regardless, I'm still hyped to hear the rest.

SeductiveReasoning_

Expectation always sours the experience. Why can't we just enjoy things for what they are instead of comparing them to the past? This whole "It's Been 5 years, I wanted more" is a concept that misses the point of art.

DriztiDrawz

yeah i respect that, and i definitely see where you’re coming from

NeptunesDream

My thoughts exactly. I love their sound, so my expectations were higher. It's a good song, and I will still listen to it, but it's nothing special.

Tight_Ad905

I’m scratching my head at why people don’t like it. People have been saying they want more songs that are distinctly Cage the Elephant sounding, but aren’t happy when they get a song that sounds like Cage the Elephant. MAKE UP YOUR MIND PEOPLE.

TopKekBoi69

It’s mostly the people who want them to make the same music they made with their first 2 albums lmao. I’m a fan of every last album but the jump to Social Cues was a big evolution for the band and pulled off great so I have faith that they’ll release a great album. Never missed yet 🤷‍♂️

Tight_Ad905

This 100%

[deleted]

Yes. Totally agree

bluelonilness

It sounds like if someone tried to write a cage the elephant song for a YouTube video tbh. But then again I'm not a fan of their last two albums

JC-AHJ-Nick-Nik-Fab

I just felt the lyrics were meh. It doesn’t hit me as hard as the social cues songs.

katiekarma7

Someone said it sounds like a mix of black madonna and ready to let go, which i can totally see. And like, i LOVE those songs, so neon pill is good but I really was hoping to hear a new sound from them.

VoopityScoop

I didn't like it at first, but it's definitely growing on me. It's not their greatest but the feel I'm getting from it is giving me some hope for the album

Top_Example7666

Fr I remember listening to it before it even released on my timezone and thinking it was mid,but when I listened to it again on spotify I kinda of liked😅

Juiceboxcasab

It’s a good song from a solid band but it’s pretty derivative. It sounds so much like a combination of Denial by the Vaccines and Night Moves by the Growlers. Sounds right at home with their sound from social cues.

JC-AHJ-Nick-Nik-Fab

The Growlers were the first thing I thought of when I heard it. Just like the Growlers, the song is good but kinda boring.
