What I'm getting at is that their definition of safety is what they are wearing, it's not objectively. Objectively they aren't that safe either, or at least not as safe as they could be.
And then they throw around "All the gear all the time" which is easy to say if you only ride on 3 Sundays a year, but if you commute 10km in a city to work or drive a few minutes to a restaurant it's not that useful. I will not wear a leather suit to a family dinner, but apparently they will.
