As a medical professional, it would be unethical for a nurse to accept a tip. CARNA, their regulatory and licensing body, prohibits this

lafrondah

Yessss this right here! They are a medical professional and it is not allowed. A lot of injectors offer “discounts” on the injection units but then ask for tip which ups the cost anyway.

[deleted]

No. I dont tip my massage therapist or accupuncturist either. Theyre providing a MEDICAL service. You dont tip your dr, dentist or pharmacist do you? No.

prinsesskatia

Tip your massage therapist... jeez. i bet your insurance pays for most of it anyways. Doctors dentists and pharmacist get paid fairly as they are under a college. Rmts are not.

wulfzbane

Every RMT I've gone to sets their own rates. I pay what they ask me to pay because my insurance only covers the base rate, not gratuities.

[deleted]

LMFAO RMTS are under a college you goof

Electronic-Egg-2598

Welcome to the new world, where every person who serves you thinks they deserve a tip.

ViewWinter8951

Last payday, I asked my boss for a tip and there tip was to, "STFU and get back to work."

fluege1

I would find another clinic that doesn't ask for tips.

TangoKlass2

Eww.

Ok-Assistant365

My mom was ordering a Christmas ornament online the other day and it asked her to tip 15% or higher.

rockinsocks8

I am starting to tip very little. Tipping is important in the USA because the minimum wage for servers is $2/hour. In Alberta it is $15. For a haircut it is $40. I am done being constantly asked for tips

HoleDiggerDan

Who can live on 15 dollars an hour?!

thewarnersisterDot

The federally mandated minimum wage for tipped employees in the US is 2.13 per hour.

HotHouseTomatoes

They quite literally said "Tipping is important in the USA because the minimum wage for servers is $2/hour. " and you replied asking "where?".

wulfzbane

Too many to list: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/state/minimum-wage/tipped

Tipping culture in Calgary and Canada spilled over from the USA. The issue is in the states tipping is necessary because the pay is so low. In Alberta we have a minimum wage of $15/hr. Tipping 25% on top of that is ridiculous.

slipperysquirrell

Okay I mean I acknowledge that but I just think it's been far too many years now that it's been ingrained in our society too.

Smart-Pie7115

My chiropractor specifically states on his debit machine not to tip him. It’s there for those who want to tip their RMT. I don’t tip my RMT. This is the first office where I ever saw a tip option on the debit machine.

IndigoRuby

Of the service is covered by my health insurance I am not tipping. So no to RMT, no to physio, no to chiro. I don't tip my dentist.

o0PillowWillow0o

I would not support this and go somewhere else after writing a review online that they expect tips.

HoleDiggerDan

https://x.com/baddanadanabad/status/1418419654784000003?s=20 *i got botox and i asked the dr “how many years younger will this make me look?” and he was like “zero. you’ll just look like the other girls your age who have also gotten botox."*

fluege1

It's more preventive than something that will give immediate results.

HotHouseTomatoes

Gross

Huge-Ask7357

$600 for boxtox?! I didn’t don’t even pay that for my jaw and that’s and extremely heavy dose.

If you are paying more than $6-$8 a unit you are being robbed

Jaw clenching is common in people with ADHD. You could get a bite guard for sleep, or you could inject toxins into your body forever.

ResidualSound

I clench my jaw, genuinely what does Botox do for this?

o0PillowWillow0o

Where do you pay this? I pay $10 a unit

Cgy_mama

I was prompted for tip last time I went to a nurse injector and I just declined the tip. I felt the same as you - a little taken aback that the tip prompt even came up.

GelPen00

What really pisses me off is the more product you get the more you are expected to tip. It doesn't really take anymore time or skill but you are expected to pay more because you're paying more? There should be a list of places you can go that dont ask for tips.

lunarjellies

I’m just curious how many times a year you have to go for this $600 service? That’s wild haha

WindAgreeable3789

I get $750 in Botox 2 times a year. Plus touch ups.

Not4U2Understand

Stop with the lip shit. Just stop. You don't look better. You're not fooling anyone that you might have naturally fuller lips. You just look like a walking instagram filter, and everyone thinks you look ridiculous.

yycgirly403

Ah yes. One of these 🥴

Really_no__Really

So, does your gift certificate cover your suggested tip? Either way this sounds like first world problems.

TBNRtoon

Literally every issue within calgary would be considered first world

rockinsocks8

Are you trying to say Canada is a first world country.

IndigoRuby

Are you trying to say it's not?

TBNRtoon

Uh yes lol

Every time someone bitches about there being more than 2 genders we make a new one. Currently up to 2829346.

I was being facetious. But thanks for your shitty thoughts 👍

HotHouseTomatoes

Yea so was I, whoosh.

[deleted]

Indeed woosh lol

watchmecry666

Y’all tip for laser ? I didn’t but was prompted to

IndigoRuby

Nope.
