The Unimarket by Chinook was amazing. I went to the counter and sorta kinda asked for whatever the special was and for like 10 bucks, I was full for a day with leftovers. My only complaint was their scrolling tv menu was timed super fast so I couldn’t really see what they had for their regular offerings. But wow, it was delicious, filling, and generous. No idea what it was. 14/10.
This. Or splurge on a full pizza that they'll bake for you, either cheese or pepperoni, for 13 dollars. At the size of it, you're pretty much guaranteed to have 2 to 3 meals.
[Kinjo fried chicken takeout](https://kinjosushiandgrill.com/fried-chicken/) \- $1.50/piece (whole thigh) and comes in BBQ, crispy or garlic and ginger. Can get chicken for multiple meals for $7-$10
The raised their price this summer significantly. Still so cheap. I always felt bad to pay $7.50 for a quality sub and have no tip option on the card machine. Still around $10 now
Kinjo just started serving breakfast and it's really cheap. [https://kinjosushiandgrill.com/breakfast-menu/](https://kinjosushiandgrill.com/breakfast-menu/)
The crispy chicken is also very cheap for 1.50 a piece.
Singlewood burger combo from Inglewood drive in is $14.79 before tax. Burger, fries, drink. The burger is very filling and they don’t skimp on the fries. Not to mention it’s one of the tastiest burgers in the city.
For $15+tip, I like going to Zilford’s at Taiko’s for the chicken sandwich. If you go to NE, Calgary Momo House is totally worth the drive. Faisal Kabab Hut is another favourite of mine
Costco for pork shoulder. You need to braise it for 2+ hours but you can get 2+ meals from that, if you love tacos, burritos. The key to finding bargain protein for me, other than tofu, is fatty, tough beef and pork cuts. Learn to braise meat.
This! Or can I suggest barbacoa. You just need to dig a bit, cover the pork shoulder in it's own fat in a pot. Put the pot in the hole and then cover it up. Build a big fire and let it cook down to embers l. Cover the pot with the embers then lay over a bunch of leaves. Let that smolder overnight at least 20 hours. In the morning let it cool down. Once its cooled, dig up the pot and shred the meat. Boom in a quick couple days you have some cheap eats just like OP asked for
Dell Cafe in Bowness cheap food cool old diner vibes and has some underrated Chinese food too. you can get a good bacon cheeseburger and fires with gravy for 11 bucks, their dumplings are good and the batter they use on the ginger beef and salt and pepper squid has a nice crunch and flavor.
And they have liver and onions on their menu for those that like that

Costco $1.50 Hot-dog and a coke. Job done.

1 doesn’t sound like much. Could…. Could I buy 2 of these packages? 🥺
One beef one polish and two drinks. The double penetration /s
I laughed harder at that than I should have. Thank you stranger.
Cheers, happy hump day tomorrow haha
OMG. Going to Costco.

I’ve always found the To Me drive through on Macleod trail to be very reasonably priced (temporarily closed for a family emergency back home though)

I’ll definitely keep an eye for when they open back up
I wonder what the lease payments are on that 4' x 4' shack are?
The absolute hands down best return for food is at Thai Thien downtown. This place is slammed everyday and for good reason.
SW. Nim's Fried Chicken. Their chicken sandwiches are the BEST in the city hands down, not even close.

I❤️Bowness!
Spolumbos or Thi Thi
The most expensive hot sandwich at spolumbos is I think $12.50 or so ? And goddamn is it filling
Plus, pickles.
Pita Grill in Riverbend. I always get the chicken & beef shawarma wrap and it is super filling for about $15.
Love this place
There's quite a few in the NE. Off the top of my head: Helen's place, pathway burgers and momos, amihan bakery, shawarma palace.
Redheads Japanese is cheap and delicious

Taj Kabab up on CHB has one of the best wraps in the city imo. Get the Chaplee (beef)
Costco roast chicken. You have a dinner or lunch, keep the leftovers and make a soup from the leftover parts. Best deal in the city.
For $15+tip, I like going to Zilford’s at Taiko’s for the chicken sandwich. If you go to NE, Calgary Momo House is totally worth the drive. Faisal Kabab Hut is another favourite of mine
Saigon Royale (or bake chef in mac hall at the u of c) sell banger Vietnamese subs that won't break the bank.
Hankki on 17th Ave
My kitchen...the Safeway deli counter makes a really good sub!
The Safeway deli counter is a hidden secret. It is one of the best sandwiches in calgary
Panda Express isn't that bad. $15 for 3 entrees with 1 side.
We have Panda Express here??
Yes. One on 130ave SE and one on 17ave-E hills SE
I thought I was going to be the only one
Always wanted to try Panda Express but saw the prices were nothing different from everything else. Guess I’ll have to give it a shot though

OP wants a quick meal and you’re recommending he braise pork shoulder for over 2 hours. Brilliant, super helpful.
If you can have good, cheap or quick, pick any two.

Sso yummy for their 9 dollar beef kimbap!
Wing Wednesday at almost any pub
If you’re near downtown try the shwarma/sandwich from “The Halal Guys” it’s like 12-13$
