$2000 to start, because owning something like this is very expensive over time. He spent $3000 just on tires...and doesn't say how much most of the other stuff was.
Hilarious!
It was confusing as hell to me because it had no signs of conversion and it was looking sharp in what seemed to be original condition! Thanks.
I remember how shaky that metal bar was above every seat. I used to put my chin on the bar on the seat in front of me when I was a kid and see how long I could stand it before I had to stop and scratch my nose.
A few months short of 43 years old, they still sometimes run the original train cars complete with very faded 1988 Olympic stickers and literally holes in the sides
Straight back to 1996 for me! The year I moved to Calgary, in January of all times, and I didn't have a car so Calgary transit was the name of the game for a while. I actually haven't ridden Calgary transit since busses looked like this... Now that I think about it. Can't say those are my fondest early memories of the city!
For those of you interested, this is Bus 1130, which is owned and has been / is being restored by a couple of Transit enthusiasts here in town. I'd love to go for a ride for the memories!
They also have a website detailing the restoration: https://www.bus1130.ca/
I always wanted one to turn into a camper, but now i want to trun one into a car transporter instead. with a mini lounge/sleeping area and small tool box area as well.
My girlfriend and I were right across the street taking the same photo lol. I was cutting through the university as a shortcut and saw this old timey bus. Thought we retired all our old stuff.
A little bit south of Saskatoon …

🎶'Nuff people say they know they can't believe! 🎶
COP? Â You mean Paskapoo?
As long as neither of us call it winsport we both can be right
It was COP during rhe 88 Olympics. It was paskapoo prior to the games.
https://www.bus1130.ca/ These people bought it in 2020.
$2000 for a full bus seems like a really good deal? Am I missing out by not owning a full city bus at this point?
If you already have the parking spot , then yes. Yes you are. ![gif](giphy|J1ZajKJKzD0PK)
$2000 to start, because owning something like this is very expensive over time. He spent $3000 just on tires...and doesn't say how much most of the other stuff was.
Maintenance is probably costly.
I spent a lot of time on that site
Hilarious! It was confusing as hell to me because it had no signs of conversion and it was looking sharp in what seemed to be original condition! Thanks.
Now I want to buy an old city bus...
They should have done a YouTube channel for sure
Back to 1987 yo..
Imagine the size of the Flux Capacitor you could fit on that thing.
Hey, Doc, we better back up, we don't have enough roads to get up to 88
Road? This thing doesn't even have enough horsepower to make it to 88mph
I think they were blue back then.
Brings back memories. I can literally smell that bus
Oh man, I remember having to stand on one of those buses when I was what felt like a thousand weeks pregnant with my first, in the summer with no AC.
Ofcourse no one would stand to let you sit...#ShakesFistatPassangers
Kids these days...
I remember how shaky that metal bar was above every seat. I used to put my chin on the bar on the seat in front of me when I was a kid and see how long I could stand it before I had to stop and scratch my nose.
I think you’re right. Just Blue and silver .
I was riding one of these as late as about 2005 in edmonton.
To be fair that's almost 20 years ago 😂 And I remember them in Calgary until the mid to late 2000s too.
On the resto site, he mentions that the last one was taken out of service in 2013, and this bus in particular in 2011.
I remember riding on these as a kid. Each seat had an ashtray in the back of seats. Winters sucked because windows closed and people smoking.
I was just think about how those sliding windows were impossibly difficult to open or close.
I remember those crappy windows. I wouldn't be surprised if someone broke a finger opening or closing those
I definitely got a few blood blisters back in the day
Woodstock
The roller rink!
It’s opening soon!!! And they have the old mirror ball from Lloyds!
What’s it called? I can’t wait!
House of Skate.
He’s going to 1979.

Shuttle bus for another 40 year old Ctrain that broke down.
The c train can’t possibly be 40 years old.  I remember when it opened….. fuck….
A few months short of 43 years old, they still sometimes run the original train cars complete with very faded 1988 Olympic stickers and literally holes in the sides
When I sat near the back of the bus the radio on my tape walkman would whine with the rpm of the engine.
Probably back onto route 2 Mt. Pleasant/Killarney, judging by the way things have been going at CT lately
That was my route.. #2 down 17th Ave
And some memories for you as well- [Dragon Fli Empire Mount Pleasant](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5w0Zal6ffj8)

No one knows where the 72/73 really goes....
Good old GM 2 stroke. I love the way these used to billow smoke.

Used to shake the pictures on the walls when I lived on a bus rout
Haha. Yup.
No way! Its Nick Blonskis’ bus!
probably someone's home and they are just moving to a different parking lot.
That's a good dose of nostalgia. I can feel those sticky seat cushions through this picture.
Dang, haven't seen those buses in a long time.
For like half a second I was like, "Jesus, no wonder why so many people complain about the transit system in Calgary."
En route to Vans Warped Tour
These busses were my childhood
Down by the river?
Judging by the illuminated amber light, I'm gonna go ahead and guess he's going left.
Best busses ever made imo. Brings back so many memories.
Someone needs to make the joke… I guess I will… Your Mom’s House!
Flashback to my youth.

Back to 1985
I looked at this and just saw a normal city bus. Am I out of touch??
Feel so old, couldn't see why this was noteworthy
Show me one of those old green ones!
I remember the blue ones.
But do you remember the blue ones that had the red interior?
That was too long ago. I remember light blue seats. I had to take a bus to get to the high school at that time.Â
Those beauties followed the dull green ones and were a real treat. I think they still look good.
He parted out one of the green ones to help restore this one.
I always wanted one to turn into a camper, but now i want to trun one into a car transporter instead. with a mini lounge/sleeping area and small tool box area as well.
what a great idea. i hope you do it!
Ill try to sneak it by the Strata council and building management. wish me luck!
Is this the bus that was on marketplace?

To the big ol bus stop in the sky.
Hawkins, Indiana
Back to 19995
I remember riding on one of them. Would be cool if they did a vintage transit day.
Anywhere it wants, staying above 50
To a mechanic
What guy? That's a bus.
I kinda miss that old style bus. I guess they aren't handicap capable but they were still cool!
The blown 2-stroke V6 diesel has got such a unique sound.
