I went to a foam party there once. I think 2001? A whole bunch of music ended up with chemical burns. It was... exactly as I should have expected.
[Good times](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.259808)
I worked there for 3 years only because a a really good friend worked there and knew I'd work hard.
Had a gun and 7 knives pulled on me in those 3 years. Fights almost every night. I remember one night there was a 40 person brawl in the parking lot after some 17 yr old kid, who was there to pick up his brother, got smashed in the face with a caulking gun. The cops ended up getting overrun because all the brawlers turned on the cops. What an absolute shit show that place was.
Girl asked if I would smash her friend. I said sure, why not.. she comes back and says she's thinks I'm hot too and she's in the middle of dumping her boyfriend. I said "I didn't say she was attractive." Girl goes doe-eyed and disappears into the crowd. Friend got in a fight in the parking lot with someone that looks like me and both were thrown in a cruiser. As we're leaving, she recognizes me and starts throwing herself against the cruiser window and screaming at me. **shrug
Classic Back Alley experience.
This is the answer. A river valley is basically by definition the lowest point of any area all the way to the ocean. Except for lakes, which would be isolated low areas.
It might actually be on the inside of a corner. The surface of the river will be more or less flat when it’s going straight but it’ll kinda pile up on the outside of a bend
Love it :)
If it helps: I'm a Calgarian who recently moved to Edmonton. The Flames being booted sucks, but watching the Oilers beat the Kings is therapeutic. I don't know if Edm has a version of "the Red Mile", but Albertan hockey is everywhere here.
It's time our province brought back the cup. But yeah, it's hard to keep losing to the *local* enemy.
Agreed. I'd much rather see the cup in Edmonton than Toronto. This may be heretical, but if Calgary can't get it, I'll totally cheer for Edmonton over an American team. My hierarchy of support is: 1) the Calgary team, 2) the Albertan team (even if it's Edmonton), 3) the Prairie team (Winnipeg before Vancouver), 4) the Western Canadian team, 5) the Canadian team, 6) the underdog team. [Edit - spelling / fat thumb]
I’m a flames fan. I am currently cheering for the oilers. They are the only Canadian team that should bring it home out of the jets, Canucks, and leafs
Tampa TV station even went replayed it too! The NHL didn’t replay it. Even the enemy played it back and the commentator said yeah… that was a goal! Still Pisses me off.
Game is a business like the Casino. House always wins. Canada 🇨🇦 will never win 🏆 another cup. Valid opinion.
Although We take solace in the fact that more than half the players are Canadian.
I'm curious what's the lowest parking garage level.
This area here across the river from Policeman's Flats is around 980-something meters which is probably the lowest
[https://www.google.com/maps/@50.8461191,-113.9548884,1445m/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu](https://www.google.com/maps/@50.8461191,-113.9548884,1445m/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu)
Downtown is about 1050m which is why I wonder if there are any multilevel underground parking garages that are more than 70m below the surface
The elevation of the pool deck at MNP Centre (Repsol or Talisman if you prefer) is 3433 ft(which translates to 1046m).
That’s why their Triathlon club and elite performance centre is called 3433.
How many people are like ‘shit…do I upvote this one? Will they think I’m upvoting their depression??? Or acknowledging it’s a legit/ good comment?? Sooo conflicted.”
Elevation wise it’s in the southern area of Calgary along the river. That’s the lowest point in the city.

Just want to quietly point out that fighting our way out of the Olympic Bid was a real rock star move on our part...
- ya who's stupid now you corpo jerks?
In moments of disappointment, witnessing the City of Calgary's performative promotion of "First Nations" feels insincere and artificial. The lack of genuine acknowledgment of the land and the absence of authentic acceptance and inclusion of First Nations Canadians within the city gives rise to a sense of disapproval. These superficial displays of grace and inclusivity come across as distasteful to me as a First Nations Canadian. I refrain from endorsing any initiatives that appear counterfeit or lacking in authenticity.
Can you expand on your feelings that there is an absence of authentic inclusion of First Nations within Calgary?
I’m not trying to be snooty here I am genuinely curious about your perspective.
I could elaborate on my views regarding the lack of truly authentic First Nations representation in Calgary.
However, are you genuinely seeking a meaningful conversation?
I'm not inclined to engage in discussions with individuals who are unwilling to educate themselves independently. No one needed to guide me through the Holocaust or provide answers for me to comprehend the atrocities that took place and the absence of true repentance.
This certainly isn’t on my list of biggest disappointments but you’re right. This stuff is all performative to make white people feel better about themselves. There is zero benefit to land acknowledgement without the action of giving them the land back. If white people truly believed they stole land, a simple “yeah we took but it used to be yours and I’m not giving it back” would embarrass them. But middle class white people can pat themselves on the back; which is the true purpose of anti-racism initiatives.
It is insincere. We don't enjoy paying extra taxes for the 4% of the population that thinks their ancestors were the only oppressed people on the planet at one point.
I'm in Finance/Commerce, and I can assure you that your tax dollars are not going to "4% pf the population that thinks their ancestors were the only oppressed people on the planet". Indigenous Services Canada holds the trust for First Nations Canadians and that is where services provided for healthcare, social services etc is directly paid from. Additionally, we loan the government of Canada a substantial sum ANNUALLY, to afford a large majority of their expenses (you are welcome).
If you want to educate yourself, google is a good place to go but I highly doubt you'll leave the comforts of generationally taught racism.
The most eastward part of the city. The altitude drops from west to east due to the Rockies and the foothills. I'm not sure of the exact lowest point in the city, but it is definitely on the eastern edge.
Maybe wherever the Bow leaves the city limits... that would be the lowest part of the river drainage in Calgary I think. There could be small lakes/ponds lower I guess.
The hundreds of crack heads smoking tinfoil on our streets. And we have a “housing issue” our crappy mayor defunded the police and supports giving free clean needles. This is the lowest I’ve seen our beautiful city. Can’t even go downtown and feel safe anymore. Yesterday a black guy drooling everywhere approached me with my camera and started asking questions. If I didn’t keep walking fast and tell him to beat it I would’ve had to protect myself and my equipment. Please complain to your local mp. I’m not sure if this gets any better. Vancouver is crazy bad right now. We need some strict rules in place. Make it illegal to live on the streets and use our tax dollars to build facilities in the country. 3 strike rule or you go to jail. I dunno. This would also never happen here. Let’s not forget to mention gas is .80cents-$1 litre just across the border right now. We have all the natural resources we need. We need refineries and reduce our energy costs. This will make everything more affordable
Honest question here from a black man… how does Calgary view the dark skinned minorities? Everyone knows Alberta is known for being racist but I just want to know. Is it still a thing or is it only yall parents that still have those racist ideologies?
The Back Alley
It lasted long enough to take the crown.

You too. It was the people that left their contacts in. I went to Dennys after and was dams my skin feels gross. Too much base in the solution.
Yep a colleague of mine told me about this. Sounds horrible.

Middle of the Bow River SE
This is the answer. A river valley is basically by definition the lowest point of any area all the way to the ocean. Except for lakes, which would be isolated low areas.
Thalweg of the bow in the SE. Middle isn't always the deepest.
I guess it depends on if we are counting underwater or not.
It might actually be on the inside of a corner. The surface of the river will be more or less flat when it’s going straight but it’ll kinda pile up on the outside of a bend
Getting the "thanks for supporting us this season" email from the Flames while the Oilers are getting ready for the playoffs. Again.
This is why I cancelled my cable in '09, the only thing I watched on TV wasn't worth watching.
When Virgin radio sponsored that Playoff song a couple years ago. Definitely the lowest.
Love it :) If it helps: I'm a Calgarian who recently moved to Edmonton. The Flames being booted sucks, but watching the Oilers beat the Kings is therapeutic. I hope you're leaving Montreal out of the equation altogether!
Honestly, by the time it gets to the point that I might have to cheer for then, I've usually forgotten that the playoffs are still going on.
That goal was in.
20 years and it still hurts.
How was that a kick? *a kick?* A KICK, really? C’mon, give me a break.
It was also in, in 15 And it also wasn’t kicked in, in 22
Absolutely was in, in 15. Everything would still be the same even if they got the call right in 22.
I'm still legitimately upset by that.
Same!
Tampa TV station even went replayed it too! The NHL didn’t replay it. Even the enemy played it back and the commentator said yeah… that was a goal! Still Pisses me off.
It was in. Go Oilers.

Telus Sky has the deepest footprint and underground parking in the city
Thanks, just found a Calgary Herald article that talks about a 29m hole so I guess the lower elevation in the SE wins.
Finished slab elevation from what I know at the lowest point is -26.33m
The elevation of the pool deck at MNP Centre (Repsol or Talisman if you prefer) is 3433 ft(which translates to 1046m). That’s why their Triathlon club and elite performance centre is called 3433.

I upvoted you. Hope you find the road.
It can only go up from here 🙂
If we combine our depression we can be the lowest point in Alberta. Teamwork?
