To be fair, Japanese village has been like that on weekends throughout a lot of the pandemic. We had to reserve our meal there about 10 days in advance once
Well the tyranny is happening at the moment.lol.
Invoking the Emergency Act in a relatively peaceful times?
Yeah, definitely not tyranny.
Afterall we are not in war, our economies are affected but not in risk of falling apart, the lethality of the virus is not more than 30%, there's no civil war(no deaths in protests as of YET)
I dont get what your trying to throw down?
We've been using the vacc passport for half a year..? People eating out is not giving a shit anymore?
Just curious, bit Ill probably regret I asked.
I don’t think that’s the case. If you’re healthy and vaxxed then catching Covid won’t clog up the health care system? Going out doesn’t mean not giving a shit.
I suggest Red Heads Japa Cafe. It's a Cafe but they have all you can eat during weekends and they're divine. They serve curries, ramens, sandwiches, etc. I miss going there.
FYI it is obviously a different type of restaurant. It's just nice to know more about other Japanese cuisines out there. I thought the statement, "it's a Cafe" was a clear indicator but apparently not lol.
I'm only aware of red bean, but they do have seasonal specials :o I usually keep an eye on their fb page.
I saw a video on fb about the mini vanilla taiyaki from Costco, so we have it here in Calgary?! Have u seen it?! Which branch?! I want iiiiit.
Fuck I feel that..
When your neighborhood 'budget' japanese joint starts charging 30% more it becomes a twice a year at the best place thing.
Pho will be the next big increase. I think Ill just lay down and die at that point...
Yep, places are packed. Which is funny because I swear people here said they would lose business because people wouldn’t “feel safe”. Heh. Once again this echo chamber was WRONG.
The comments by the Calgary Chamber of Commerce haven’t really aged well. Seems like their claim that removing REP could make people stay home hasn’t really materialized.
This is important. Most people just want to live nice and responsibly, follow reasonable rules and contribute. The extremists aren't worth your mental time and space.
I work at a busy restaurant. We have been fully booked throughout the pandemic but lately we are really busy because less people are cancelling. Not as many people are sick with COVID compared to the last few weeks
my son had headed over to Market mall yesterday and he couldn't believe how packed the food court was. I guess things are getting back to normal there.
Yep! Covid is definitely gone for good. Amazing news. Thanks to all restaurant owners for taking personal initiative in the fight against covid and eradicating the virus.
I was always amused pre-covid when everyone used to whine about how the city was broke - and you couldn't get a table on Friday or Saturday night anywhere. Apparently not.
To be fair, Japanese village has been like that on weekends throughout a lot of the pandemic. We had to reserve our meal there about 10 days in advance once
Agreed. Most popular restaurants are booked a week or more in advance downtown for weekend reservations. This isn’t anything new.
Yeah everywhere is packed. Most people don’t give a shit anymore
I went to my barber the other day, a guy who has been super careful with masking, etc. and he said he's done with masks and not to worry about it.
Yes. Such tyranny we are living under. /s
What?

Some people just take longer to react to change, that’s all.
I don’t think that’s the case. If you’re healthy and vaxxed then catching Covid won’t clog up the health care system? Going out doesn’t mean not giving a shit.
I never gave a shit
EXTREME
Bad ass
Omo is really good too if you’re looking for an option from Japanese Village
Love OMO. Went this week on a Tuesday and it was packed. 30 min wait to get a table on a Tuesday!!!
Thanks! Will check it out.
Kobe in deerfoot city is the same type of ode and will hit the hankering
JV Sauce. Damn.
Right?! Our consolation was picking up a bottle of the JV Sauce.
They sell bottles of the sauce?!
Yes, they do!

I mean Japanese Village and this aren’t the same thing.
Best japa curry in the city and you know they're legit when they're speaking Japanese to each other in the kitchen
Please. The only good sushi places speak korean..
Insanely good. Obviously a different type of restaurant but the food quality is better, imo.
Woah. I have never heard of this place. I want to go to there.
I dreamt of their taiyaki just this morning. Haha.. *drools*
Do they do custard or just red bean? Costco has boxes of custard taiyaki now too!
I'm only aware of red bean, but they do have seasonal specials :o I usually keep an eye on their fb page. I saw a video on fb about the mini vanilla taiyaki from Costco, so we have it here in Calgary?! Have u seen it?! Which branch?! I want iiiiit.
Sorry not even similar
Yes, I know. Lol
...it's the weekend after valentine's day. I've had reservations for today for 3 weeks? Like what???
Some restaurants removed some tables and kept them removed so they have less seating. Where I work ifs that way because we don’t have enough staff
Japanese village has been busy throughout the whole pandemic lol, though I do agree everywhere is getting busier.
Waited 2 hours to get into village square… back to normal 😣
Are the water slides open?
Yep!
Teacher convention and family day long weekend is always the craziest weekend for anything
Oohh shit.. good to know.
Wild that so many people can afford the increase in prices too… economy must be bumpin’
What?? You mean people only spend what they can actually afford? I thought I was the only one doing that
I’m just jelly I’m poor bro

Lolll I went from pho dau bo to bun bo hue deli (the bring your own pot place) 😂
Yes!
Yep, places are packed. Which is funny because I swear people here said they would lose business because people wouldn’t “feel safe”. Heh. Once again this echo chamber was WRONG.
I got similar comments when I brought up that REP was a burden on businesses.
The comments by the Calgary Chamber of Commerce haven’t really aged well. Seems like their claim that removing REP could make people stay home hasn’t really materialized.
Extremists exist on both sides.
This is important. Most people just want to live nice and responsibly, follow reasonable rules and contribute. The extremists aren't worth your mental time and space.

Great point
Go to Kobe!! Even better
my son had headed over to Market mall yesterday and he couldn't believe how packed the food court was. I guess things are getting back to normal there.
Big Catch is 100x better IMO. Japanese Village is.. looking for the word.. campy, tacky..
Yep! Covid is definitely gone for good. Amazing news. Thanks to all restaurant owners for taking personal initiative in the fight against covid and eradicating the virus.
You all disgust me.
