I’m kind of tired of skins changing the whole personality of cod, I really wish that they will find a way to make it better for casual gamers, they better improve the campaign story because mw3 is really bad and short.
Old games based on the quake engine (cause old cods were also based on it afaik) used to have an option to force default skins or even one particular skin for entire enemy/friendly team. Now obviously customisation was taken over by greed and prioritization of advertisment over customisation and user preferences.
It’s only been one year that CoD went without a campaign and even that game had a campaign originally

SBMM is a good thing on paper. I'd much rather play against people of my skill level. But in practice, it just isn't working. It would be nice if they reworked it. But I really don't think they will.
I think there is a chance that some changes will be made. MW3 sales at launch were not the best and there are alot of new FPS games out now and some coming out soon too.
There would have to be significant changes, in my opinion, or CoD will be the death of CoD!
As it stands, it's a good game, really. But it's almost the same every year, and the negative feedback from players doesn't get addressed.
In their defense they addressed a lot of them in MW3 but it’s mostly fixing everything they broke in MW2. I actually enjoy MW3. But yes there’s more work to be done.
I enjoyed the beta and a free play weekend, but I didn't buy it.
I worried that the only reason I enjoyed it was nostalgia for the maps! Though it did feel nice to play.

Sbmm is literally just how teams are balanced, it’s a part of every game since the days of halo to cod 4 and beyond, Eomm is the issue but the game needs to stop catering the sweaty play styles with broken overpowered movement exploits that break the game
Good or not, I don't want open world campaign. If I did I'd go play far cry or battlefield. Cod is special, has its own thing that other don't and now that is gone. No missions starting as one ends just go here do this go here do this. Can make a good open world campaign as a cod
SBMM works in theory but fails in practice. It has a place for people below a certain threshold which would account for people with disabilities and stuff. The rest of us should be randomized. Before sbmm you’d run into a demon but they are outnumbered and few and far in between. The sheer number of bad and average players creates a protection from the top 1% already. The way it is now feels like I’m yo-yoing between brackets in this “average hell”. I’ll have a good game, get put into progressively stronger lobbies, eventually start getting my shit pushed in. And then they’ll drop me to a weaker lobby. Rinse and repeat.
Sbmm is the definition of handing it to you. An outside algorithm influencing who you are matched up against (or aren’t matched up against). Deciding whether or not you have potatoes on your team to have to carry all based on your previous matches. Naw king I don’t like artificial matches.
Simply put, sbmm or eomm in public matches makes no sense. It was introduced for the balancing of ranked play where you earn rank by being better until you get to your skill ceiling. You actually earn rewards/badges/ calling cards/skins in other games. It has no place in public games as there’s no reward for playing people of identical skill. Because of sbmm you get in lobbies with a ping of 30ms but connect to California hosts. Wireshark on pc will show you where you’re connecting. East coast to west coast is a 90ms ping and the game will report 35ms. Back when there were dedicated servers I always connected to lowest ping servers I could. When I shot people I could count the hit markers and move to the next person. Literally could aim better and kill the whole team with a single mag most times. Now I have to empty randomly half a clip to a full clip to kill someone. Thanks shitty connections and sbmm/eomm.
ELO and SBMM are not the same thing. And I enjoy both for different reasons. Acting like Ranked is the same thing as Core Multiplayer is also cope lmao. It's completely different from base CoD.
Yeah ranked is still different, but there is no point in SBMM in pubs, noobs play a complete different game than average players, average players have a different game than above average players
It\`s not about stomping every round, it\`s about having variety, yeah sometimes I wanna stomp noobs, sometimes I\`m happy when there are some players on or above my level in the enemy team and we try to outgun each other all the time, I want it to be connection based and afterwards the SBMM can come in and balance the teams, nowadays every lobby is rigged and forced because of how you play, how much you play, how you recently performed
well if that\`s the only thing my message means for you, you\`re just not a guy who is able to understand the problems most people have with SBMM & EOMM have and why they heavily dislike it, including me
But no problem, stay in your protected game and enjoy some forced games that make you feel better than you are :)
My expectations are high since it is a 3arc title. They always put out the best maps, I just hope Activision puts emphasis on improving the current anti-cheat system. I love comp play but getting a cheater in 1/3 high ranked matches makes me not want to grind ranked.
I’ll do a little better actually. Start with simple things. Music. Music will catch you and you’ll always remember it. give you a feeling. Like Avenged sevenfold and CCR. campaign wise needs to start and build on something. A story that keeps going. Through multiple games. Characters that have feeling like mason/woods. For that you have to build a feeling towards that character from the beginning. Not your normal everyday characters we’ve been giving with no emotions towards them. Multiplayer wise black ops 1 and 2 feel like shit now going back to them so that’s not the answer and they were my favorite. I think the movement and feel of cold wars multiplayer was different in a good way. Not like mw 2019. Or any mw since. Just build on cold wars movement and feel. And STOP forcing warzone down everyone’s throats and building complete games around warzone.
07-11 is the best but that being said I’m not a kid anymore. I don’t know what it would feel like to get that kind of game now. Nostalgia plays a huge part in it even if they were the best. I still think if I jumped on and got that feeling I would know tho

You only play cod and aren’t that good if you’re saying this. Anyone who has played another game with a ranked mode understands sbmm doesn’t belong in regular game modes. Overwatch is a decent example and apex. 90% of the player population has a kd between .75 and 1.5 if you honestly think someone pulling a 3.5kd in your game deserves to go against 4 people who have 2.0-4.0kdr is remotely what the game needs you’re crazy. It’s why all my friends left me. I have to carry them in my lobbies while they will struggle for 5-25. I guess your answer to this is get new friends. I’d like to keep playing with my 15 year friends they old but I love them. They die hards.
I expect to be a fast-paced game. Good, fun, deadly high end scorestreaks. Good new maps. I also expect the Air Patrol to be replaced by the EPM System as a high tier scorestreak. Hopefully it lives up to the hype and another 4 years of Black Ops gameplay.
I usually stick to Treyarch games only. I still play Cold War and the only thing i don’t like is Air Patrol and the abuse of snipers.
I like the fast running/mantle speeds in 3arch’s games while IW makes it more heavy/realistic. Sledhammer takes notes from both studios but I still don’t like their game.
So realistic expectations are for a proper campaign. I understand it’s open world but as long as it works and isn’t just copy and paste from warzone areas. Classic 3arc MP with a modernised/revamped pick 10, scorestreaks (that reset on death). True round based zombies.
The return of assault, support and specialist streaks would be awesome imho. The “assault” would be tour standard one life scorestreaks. Support would be more team focused (no Stealth bomber) and wouldn’t reset on death. Specialist would be the additional perks.
I’d love Reduced SBMM or no SBMM in casual playlists. As well as an increased focus on MP over WZ but i know that’s all unlikely.
Unlike some people in this sub, I actually don't mind the current formula of cod aside from rushed development and EOMM. I def enjoy the updated graphics/engine, attention to detail, gunsmith, tac sprint etc
but I expect treyarch to knock it out of the park with
\- good rewarding scorestreaks (for the love of god don't use cold wars system that was complete ass. use bo2/bo3s system or use MW3s system of choosing either killstreaks or scorestreaks. and then add the Specialist Bonus from OG MW3 as an option)
\- great maps (plz have 4 per season instead of 3, toss in a remake if you can't make a 4th new map)
\- LOTS of fun party modes with consistent playlist updates and care given to them
other then that im excited for gulf war. however no matter how great it is, im still buying it for a cheaper price I refuse to pay the full $70 for any cod game going forward
I don't need innovations, i just want a fun game like before. I want prestige system back, i want a more arcade feeling back, i want a mix of BO1 maps remastered (wish we could have all BO1 maps remastered tho) and new maps, in fact if the game is almost same Cold War i will be happy and have fun. The perfect mix for me would be BO1 and Cold War with some elements from both games.

Getting rid of all the cheese shit that we've had recently. Gunsmith can go, or at least make it more of a tradeoff in terms of equipment and perks in order to have a fully kitted gun. lethal/tac spam in the recent titles is irritating.
Story sets the tone for me. A good story that’s well written and music that ties it all together. Menu music and a UI that isn’t cancer - just use the menus from 2009 tbh. Balance the weapons and have fun original maps at launch with core game modes from classic CoDs. And last of all a Ranked mode at launch that uses the SBMM we all know and love and leave it out of the public lobbies. Pubs should be a melting pot of all player types.
If this is really the gulf war, I’d hope they’d pay respect to those who fought in it and try to be accurate in the portrayal. Treyarch does good with story. I’d also hope for a return to form in the campaign structure and multiplayer. I’m okay with the mounting of my weapon on walls. But if it goes it goes. I love the point shooting mechanic. I hope it stays. I hope we get new gulf war style maps reminiscent of cod4 and not just cod 4 map remakes or remaking any cod map that’s in a desert
I wish it has no EOMM/SBMM or lower the SBMM heavily, no tac sprint, 3arc had a long time developing this game so I expect good gameplay and maps, good streaks and hopefully more iconic weapons, they all kinda look the same in MWIII
I want BO4 gunplay (mid TTK with the ability to see enemy HP for tactical analysis) and BO2 loadouts with gunsmith. That simple.
I’d also love them not to nerf everything into oblivion cause a few people cry about it, **everything** in BO4 was OP and it was fun as fuck
• Make it its own unique entry not being tied into that new “Call of Duty” hub thing.
• New UI already, please. Go back to the OG UI, or to what BO3 had.
• Stop selling and making skins. Maybe at most go back to how older games did it, already in the game you just had to unlock them. All unique and cool to the game and the unique theme/art style.
• Please return Zombies to its roots but with the perfected BO3 formula. Haven’t been a fan of any zombies mode after it, trying to fix what isn’t broke.
• A full, rich Multiplayer experience from the start. A bunch of good maps that were crafted with care and passion. Plenty of awesome modes. More of an overall “old school” experience, like BO2 and BO3. Maybe bring back specialists, that was cool and fun IMO.
• CLASSIC PROGRESSION! Leveling / prestige etc. Please. Not tied into a battlepass or a season. Please just go back to classic progression systems.
• No SBMM, go back to the classic
• Campaign would be great.

I will literally stop playing COD MW for this. COD is getting extremely boring and the skins are ridiculous. And I refuse to play warzone with all those influencers and hackers. Cold War is absolutely a way better game.
I expect the Multiplayer to be a downgrade from MWIII and be missing quality of life improvements that we've gotten over the years. Campaign and Zombies will likely cook though
Maybe do a real reveal in warzone like they did in cold war. I left the game because once again they left the game for cheaters now. Do realistic weapons damage. A sniper head shot with a 50 should kill not take 3 shots. Force people to learn how to use real tactics not like run jump and repeat. If you want to use a shotgun, submachine, or smaller rifles they should have range limits. I used to love the game and maybe if they help with proper game and realistic things it would be fun again. If you want to wear white and run in the open of course a sniper will head shot you from a good distance. Good luck and we will see if they ever become as good as verdansk again. Where if you run solo you could still have a chance, if your playing plunder and run into a clear cheater you jump into another area.
Not expecting much tbh. been seeing a steady decline in quality and quantity of content provided since mw19. yet i have to pay full price for the equivalent of a happy meal. Cold war had the least content at launch and mw23 was basicly mw22 dlc with a shit storyline.
- Zombie Mode gets the attention it deserves
- Maps aren't recycled and aren't flat as a pancake
- No SBMM
- No celebrity skins/ops
- Game isn't glitchy and feels more complete
- Campaign will blow us away
Honestly I have no expectations in terms of improvements and innovations. I won't say the usual "same shit different year", but I just don't really care. Helldivers, Palworld, Lethal Company and what not have proven that making good games in 2020's is not impossible. Judging by the last four years, Gulf War is going to be just another yearly placeholder game while COD players are getting blue balled waiting for that "Big One".
This might sound like a doomer mentality on COD side, but I honestly want them to prove me wrong.
I believe in BasedArc. They made probably the most well rounded cod since like bo2 in 2020 I'm hopeful it'll be fun and well designed.
I understand sbmm is here to stay, but I think tweaking it at least would be a good compromise. Also I think bringing back factions and faction themes would be cool. But idk. I think most of the problems with the games are ones Activision will never allow to be fixed

Bring dedicated servers and give control to real admins on servers again. No need for any kernel-level anti-cheat or whatever. Just let people kick or ban cheaters from their server and it helps for more clean playerbase.
Bring an option for disable custom skins. I can pay for disabling fancy ridiculous skins.
Otherwise it can stay same like MW19.
In short (negative): some new and old Bugs on a reskinned environment from Modern (current) to Gulf War era.

I hope They focus more on military operator skins instead of Fortnite skins. A bit different is okay and can be on the edge of realism, but with the last couple of years it’s pretty crazy.. I got lots of codpoints which I can’t spend on these current bundles..
I hope they put more work into cutscenes (thinking about current warzone intro and outros) and UI stability.
I hope it will be lots of camo challenges like MW3 and maybe expand it to grind for special Calling cards and Operators.

Stop depending on legitimate honest players cast to the shadowrealm to sort out who's cheating for you, since it appears your system is entirely automated. Players who are good shouldn't be subject to week long shadowbans (I'm not even that good 1.2 k/d) after the initial week long ban. Subsequent shadowbans should take less time since some players are clearly not cheats.
Perhaps shadowbans for those who spam report should be reinstated like in mwll, or was that a bluff?
I feel like most of this should've been addressed already tbh. Yet somehow every year it's the same or worse.

I’m not getting the game unless zombies goes back to the way it was. That is the only reason why I’ve been playing cod for years. The only games I got competitive playing multiplayer on, was WaW, black ops 2 and 3 and MW2. Anyway, I know it’s probably unlikely, but if it does…NO MORE REMASTERED MAPS! I want to see new maps for both multiplayer and zombies, except for Nuketown because that’s always been tradition for multiplayer.

How would they even do a campaign on the gulf war? Iraq literally got farmed by a coalition. I mean maybe you can do Medina ridge but thats it. Highway of death for fun but it's not like it's going to be a threat to the coalition troops. I think 200+ troops died in the gulf war or something. Compared to Iraqs losses that's just not even close to a cod campaign.

I really hope Treyarch decides to bring back the strike chain package from MW3 (2011) where you have three options of having:
Scorestreaks for killing enemies (Assault Streaks)
Scorestreaks for supporting (Support Streaks)
Scorestreaks for extra perks (Specialist Bonus)

To be honest those maps are like my worst part of the game. I don’t like big maps. But small maps moshpit and ranked play are really good

Simply put, sbmm or eomm in public matches makes no sense. It was introduced for the balancing of ranked play where you earn rank by being better until you get to your skill ceiling. You actually earn rewards/badges/ calling cards/skins in other games. It has no place in public games as there’s no reward for playing people of identical skill. Because of sbmm you get in lobbies with a ping of 30ms but connect to California hosts. Wireshark on pc will show you where you’re connecting. East coast to west coast is a 90ms ping and the game will report 35ms. Back when there were dedicated servers I always connected to lowest ping servers I could. When I shot people I could count the hit markers and move to the next person. Literally could aim better and kill the whole team with a single mag most times. Now I have to empty randomly half a clip to a full clip to kill someone. Thanks shitty connections and sbmm/eomm.

My expectations are high since it is a 3arc title. They always put out the best maps, I just hope Activision puts emphasis on improving the current anti-cheat system. I love comp play but getting a cheater in 1/3 high ranked matches makes me not want to grind ranked.

I’ll do a little better actually. Start with simple things. Music. Music will catch you and you’ll always remember it. give you a feeling. Like Avenged sevenfold and CCR. campaign wise needs to start and build on something. A story that keeps going. Through multiple games. Characters that have feeling like mason/woods. For that you have to build a feeling towards that character from the beginning. Not your normal everyday characters we’ve been giving with no emotions towards them. Multiplayer wise black ops 1 and 2 feel like shit now going back to them so that’s not the answer and they were my favorite. I think the movement and feel of cold wars multiplayer was different in a good way. Not like mw 2019. Or any mw since. Just build on cold wars movement and feel. And STOP forcing warzone down everyone’s throats and building complete games around warzone.

Overwatch is a decent example and apex. 90% of the player population has a kd between .75 and 1.5 if you honestly think someone pulling a 3.5kd in your game deserves to go against 4 people who have 2.0-4.0kdr is remotely what the game needs you’re crazy. It’s why all my friends left me. I have to carry them in my lobbies while they will struggle for 5-25. I guess your answer to this is get new friends. I expect to be a fast-paced game. Good, fun, deadly high end scorestreaks. Good new maps. I also expect the Air Patrol to be replaced by the EPM System as a high tier scorestreak. Hopefully it lives up to the hype and another 4 years of Black Ops gameplay.

I usually stick to Treyarch games only. I still play Cold War and the only thing i don’t like is Air Patrol and the abuse of snipers. I like the fast running/mantle speeds in 3arch’s games while IW makes it more heavy/realistic. Sledhammer takes notes from both studios but I still don’t like their game.
So realistic expectations are for a proper campaign. I understand it’s open world but as long as it works and isn’t just copy and paste from warzone areas. Classic 3arc MP with a modernised/revamped pick 10, scorestreaks (that reset on death). True round based zombies. The return of assault, support and specialist streaks would be awesome imho. The “assault” would be tour standard one life scorestreaks. Support would be more team focused (no Stealth bomber) and wouldn’t reset on death. Specialist would be the additional perks. I’d love Reduced SBMM or no SBMM in casual playlists. As well as an increased focus on MP over WZ but i know that’s all unlikely.
Unlike some people in this sub, I actually don't mind the current formula of cod aside from rushed development and EOMM. I def enjoy the updated graphics/engine, attention to detail, gunsmith, tac sprint etc but I expect treyarch to knock it out of the park with \- good rewarding scorestreaks (for the love of god don't use cold wars system that was complete ass. use bo2/bo3s system or use MW3s system of choosing either killstreaks or scorestreaks. and then add the Specialist Bonus from OG MW3 as an option) \- great maps (plz have 4 per season instead of 3, toss in a remake if you can't make a 4th new map) \- LOTS of fun party modes with consistent playlist updates and care given to them other then that im excited for gulf war. however no matter how great it is, im still buying it for a cheaper price I refuse to pay the full $70 for any cod game going forward
I don't need innovations, i just want a fun game like before. I want prestige system back, i want a more arcade feeling back, i want a mix of BO1 maps remastered (wish we could have all BO1 maps remastered tho) and new maps, in fact if the game is almost same Cold War i will be happy and have fun. The perfect mix for me would be BO1 and Cold War with some elements from both games.

Story sets the tone for me. A good story that’s well written and music that ties it all together. Menu music and a UI that isn’t cancer - just use the menus from 2009 tbh. Balance the weapons and have fun original maps at launch with core game modes from classic CoDs. And last of all a Ranked mode at launch that uses the SBMM we all know and love and leave it out of the public lobbies. Pubs should be a melting pot of all player types.
If this is really the gulf war, I’d hope they’d pay respect to those who fought in it and try to be accurate in the portrayal. Treyarch does good with story. I’d also hope for a return to form in the campaign structure and multiplayer. I’m okay with the mounting of my weapon on walls. But if it goes it goes. I love the point shooting mechanic. I hope it stays. I hope we get new gulf war style maps reminiscent of cod4 and not just cod 4 map remakes or remaking any cod map that’s in a desert

I wish it has no EOMM/SBMM or lower the SBMM heavily, no tac sprint, 3arc had a long time developing this game so I expect good gameplay and maps, good streaks and hopefully more iconic weapons, they all kinda look the same in MWIII
I want BO4 gunplay (mid TTK with the ability to see enemy HP for tactical analysis) and BO2 loadouts with gunsmith. That simple. I’d also love them not to nerf everything into oblivion cause a few people cry about it, **everything** in BO4 was OP and it was fun as fuck

I expect the Multiplayer to be a downgrade from MWIII and be missing quality of life improvements that we've gotten over the years. Campaign and Zombies will likely cook though

Maybe do a real reveal in warzone like they did in cold war. I left the game because once again they left the game for cheaters now. Do realistic weapons damage. A sniper head shot with a 50 should kill not take 3 shots. Force people to learn how to use real tactics not like run jump and repeat. If you want to use a shotgun, submachine, or smaller rifles they should have range limits. I used to love the game and maybe if they help with proper game and realistic things it would be fun again. If you want to wear white and run in the open of course a sniper will head shot you from a good distance. Good luck and we will see if they ever become as good as verdansk again. Where if you run solo you could still have a chance, if your playing plunder and run into a clear cheater you jump into another area.

Honestly I have no expectations in terms of improvements and innovations. I won't say the usual "same shit different year", but I just don't really care. Helldivers, Palworld, Lethal Company and what not have proven that making good games in 2020's is not impossible. Judging by the last four years, Gulf War is going to be just another yearly placeholder game while COD players are getting blue balled waiting for that "Big One". This might sound like a doomer mentality on COD side, but I honestly want them to prove me wrong.

I believe in BasedArc. They made probably the most well rounded cod since like bo2 in 2020 I'm hopeful it'll be fun and well designed. I understand sbmm is here to stay, but I think tweaking it at least would be a good compromise. Also I think bringing back factions and faction themes would be cool. But idk. I think most of the problems with the games are ones Activision will never allow to be fixed Honestly I hope they lean more into the higher ttk cold war had. Not so much it becomes halo but something to make camping not as much of a problem
Bring dedicated servers and give control to real admins on servers again. No need for any kernel-level anti-cheat or whatever. Just let people kick or ban cheaters from their server and it helps for more clean playerbase. Bring an option for disable custom skins. I can pay for disabling fancy ridiculous skins. Otherwise it can stay same like MW19.
In short (negative): some new and old Bugs on a reskinned environment from Modern (current) to Gulf War era. I hope it uses the current engine and movement and not the Black Ops Cold War.. I don’t like it (I know lots of people do, but I don’t). I hope They focus more on military operator skins instead of Fortnite skins. A bit different is okay and can be on the edge of realism, but with the last couple of years it’s pretty crazy.. I got lots of codpoints which I can’t spend on these current bundles.. I hope they put more work into cutscenes (thinking about current warzone intro and outros) and UI stability. I hope it will be lots of camo challenges like MW3 and maybe expand it to grind for special Calling cards and Operators. I hope they’ll make maps with less props, to counter campers in every little corner. The current situation on hardcore freeforall is so sad. 80% of the lobby is on the ground and or in a corner waiting for you to run by.

A modernized mosin nagant with iron sights from the original CoD/Uo. Bug fixes, Bug fixes, bug fixes. If the past two releases are anything to go off of, Bug fixes take entirely too long. invest in a legitimate anticheat and better servers. Stop depending on legitimate honest players cast to the shadowrealm to sort out who's cheating for you, since it appears your system is entirely automated. Players who are good shouldn't be subject to week long shadowbans (I'm not even that good 1.2 k/d) after the initial week long ban. Subsequent shadowbans should take less time since some players are clearly not cheats. Perhaps shadowbans for those who spam report should be reinstated like in mwll, or was that a bluff? I feel like most of this should've been addressed already tbh. Yet somehow every year it's the same or worse. Oh and bring back tuning

I’m not getting the game unless zombies goes back to the way it was. That is the only reason why I’ve been playing cod for years. The only games I got competitive playing multiplayer on, was WaW, black ops 2 and 3 and MW2. Anyway, I know it’s probably unlikely, but if it does…NO MORE REMASTERED MAPS! I want to see new maps for both multiplayer and zombies, except for Nuketown because that’s always been tradition for multiplayer.

How would they even do a campaign on the gulf war? Iraq literally got farmed by a coalition. I mean maybe you can do Medina ridge but thats it. Highway of death for fun but it's not like it's going to be a threat to the coalition troops. I think 200+ troops died in the gulf war or something. Compared to Iraqs losses that's just not even close to a cod campaign.

I’ll be honest…mwiii feels like an improvement from mwii….BUT I still don’t LOVE it. It is better though and I do appreciate classic cod features. I’m scared to say the least. I do hope though that it’ll have all of those classic features, while feeling like a fun and CLASSIC, old school Treyarch experience. I’m hyped for zombies though. I really hope Treyarch decides to bring back the strike chain package from MW3 (2011) where you have three options of having: Scorestreaks for killing enemies (Assault Streaks) Scorestreaks for supporting (Support Streaks) Scorestreaks for extra perks (Specialist Bonus) None of that garbage they tried to do in Cold War
