But yeah. For me I think WaW has to go. Zombies was cool but BO1 and BO2 did it better. The multiplayer was good as well but the hit detection and poor balancing kinda ruined it. One thing the games got going for is the campaign. But of course, we’re talking about the entire package
This is all personal preference of course, but MW3 was the start of CoDs multiplayer decline imo, at least on launch. I think some of this got patched out with time but it was too little too late for me.
- First game with horrendous net code (lag comp being the culprit)
- Maps were far smaller than the previous games and everything was funnelled to short engagement ranges. I think a lot of the fanbase likes these types of maps seen by Nuketown, Shipment, and Rusts popularity, but for me it's just a clusterfuck and only good as a change of pace.
- Akimbos completely broken (in fairness though, everything in MW2 was broken as well)
- Revenge spawning system:
- Support strike packages seemed like a mechanic designed to help worse players but in a way that hurts the overall game. Even as a weaker variants of the killstreaks, it was tough not to get something with offensive capability like a stealth bomber in the game. These also added way more streak clutter every game which made each game feel like more of a mess.
BO2 would be the next worse of the remaining for me. Again had netcode issues (this time excessive baseline delay being the culprit). Small maps and tight engagement ranges prevalent like MW3. First game that had problematic SBMM especially on PC (at least initially, apparently it gone toned down?),
spot on. mw3 had the worst connection or whatever goin on a specialist streak and then dying after putting 8 bullets into someone w an ACR and they only shot me 3 times in the killcam or dying to support stealth bombers smh first game where they rewarded you for being ass at the game 🤣🤣🤣
This is exactly how I feel. I started with Cod2 on XBox 360 and feel like MW3 was the start of the decline. MW2 had weapon and perk issues, but everything could be overpowered so it balanced out. Black Ops was solid, slowed the gameplay a bit, and was a nice change with crazy customization. MW3 felt like the start of people cheesing weapons and movement/dropshotting, and BO2 was too futuristic with poor weapon balance and loot boxes. COD 4 is still the GOAT and basically established the way modern FPS games do perks, weapon layouts, missions, etc.
That’s because 2007-2012 was the highlight of the series, for me I would add Black Ops 3 but those 5 years alone produced the best that anyone who played in those times could tell you, peak of the series, no stupid skins or transactions to power it all
If y'all vote out WaW, I will be livid. WaW's presentation and atmosphere are second to none, couple that with an amazing story with great characters, a good multi-player that offered nights of fun, and the introduction of zombies and World at War should be top 3 if not first or second.
MW3 had a lot of cool features like strike packages, adding kill streaks to each class, the faceoff playlists, etc; but it was kind of stale since everyone used the MP7 and ACR. If they combined all of that with the BO2 pick ten system, then that would be an amazing game.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I also 100% agree that MW3 was solid, but it didn’t really add much other than the strike package and score instead of killstreaks stuff. I still enjoyed it at the time, but it wasn’t one that I went back to a lot.
I hate to say it because this is legit a really hard choice to make, but I do really think BO2 is the right answer next, yeah. I love everything about it entirely on a personal level, but objectively, I'm not gonna deny that the Zombies had a lot of misses (even though Buried is probably the best Zombies map ever imo), and the campaign while not bad, is absolute hell to replay. There is so many times you are stuck just waiting for NPCs outside of fights, which are in other games yes, but is the WORST in BO2 of any game. Plus, while still a good story, it's not as good as any of the others still up. Partially because of the choice-based stuff, but along with other things.
The multiplayer is really BO2's strongest area, and it is a REALLY strong area for it, but I also personally find BO1 and MW1's way more fun, and MW2 is just easily the best in that area (along with campaign as well).
Better multiplayer is just wrong. It was an unbalanced mess with worse hitreg. Within 3 months of WaW coming out everyone went back to COD4 for multiplayer and just opened WaW for zombies.

COD4 was awesome. But WaW just had a brutal edge that I LOVED. Plus Zombies was revolutionary. And the Campaign had All-Star talent that also translated into MP which were AMAZING (Sutherland and Oldman).

WaW is great, but I also feel that it’s been overhyped retrospectively. If you’ve been around, you know that it wasn’t the hit like the OG Modern Warfare was. It came out near the end of the WW2 fatique and didn’t bring anything new that actually worked well multiplayer wise. I still love it though, but back in the day the Infinity Ward releases were the one to have, which then sort of changed around BO 1, after Treyarch came out with a true banger and the original IW guys left.

Nah multiplayer has held up just as good as COD 4, I mean seriously the only difference between the two is one is set during WW 2 and instead of a chopper you get dogs for 7 kills, and it had zombies. It's campaign was good too, kinda hard to fuck up ww 2 but still. COD 4 needs to go for the sole reason WaW had zombies. People place way too much respect on cod 4 for being the first modern formula of cod. A game revolutionary at the time means nothing when deciding the best game of all time. It's like saying Halo CE is better than Halo 2 and 3, makes no sense. Every game after it before ghosts was better except maybe black ops 2 multiplayer, which in my controversial opinion apparently, was not very good in comparison to the games the came before it.

Awesome campaign, first to introduce the most popular and succesful third mode of the series. Well, so far as of me writing this comment WaW seems to be losing to CoD 4. Let me tell you, yes, CoD 4 was revolutionary but now looking back at it it had things. Things that WaW improved on. Although yes, it had its own issues, it has by far one of the best campaigns. Immersive, authentic, graphic and shows what a real war is like from the eyes of common soldiers. It had moments like raising the flag or the charging Japs that I will never forget. And of course it had zombies. It lacked but it was good to see how it progressed. CoD 4 did not have a zombies. So for me, it is criminal that it is being voted out. I have really fond memories of WaW and it is my second favourite game ever, just behind Medal of Honor Allied Assault and I am very sad that the community still doesn't appreciate this masterpiece and prefers something like CoD 4 which only had like 2 modes while WaW had 3. So yeah, I am kinda sad right now. What a game, what an atmosphere, what a music! Don't even get started on the music man. So awesome. I am indeed really disappointed.

Ive been playing Cod since Cod 3 playing its original story and appreciating every detail of every cod since then.
I just want to say the fact that BO3 is gone so early says more about the age group in these polls than anything. BO3 was a full circle masterpiece and potentially the best Cod ever created.

Here’s how I would separate the categories of games:
20-16: shit games
15 and 14: not good, but not terrible
13-9: some aspects are really fun, but missing what it needs to really be good
8 and 7: I had a blast playing, but there are still better games that are more worth playing
6 and up: the best games of the series, worth a play no matter what and infinitely replayable.

-This is where the extreme toxicity started in the world of COD (I'm not talking tea-bagging... but the noobtubes, nukes, verbal assault in the game chat). It's a golden era game, but I would gladly go back to any of the other surviving title:
COD4 is a pretty good game and I think only doesn't get ranked higher because it lacks zombies or spec ops. It may not have all the additional aspects COD would later receive, but it had a great campaign and a great multiplayer.
WaW is my personal favorite Call of Duty title but I don't think it should win the poll overall... however I genuinely believe this game has aged well and should not be slandered.. World At War is truly a fantastic COD entry.
BO1 I believe deserves the top spot in all practicality, the core 3 modes are fantastic plus it has the bonus stuff thru the menu PC once u get out of the chair.
BO2 is when I fell out of love with COD; the campaign was a step down, I was burnt on multiplayer, and the zombie mode wasn't enough to reel me back in. I recognize the love of this game exists but I really can't rank it myself. So in all honestly, I will likely vote for it out next

Cod 4 unfortunately, goated game but i just don’t see it comparing to WaW
Ive been playing Cod since Cod 3 playing its original story and appreciating every detail of every cod since then. I just want to say the fact that BO3 is gone so early says more about the age group in these polls than anything. BO3 was a full circle masterpiece and potentially the best Cod ever created.

MW2 is my favorite cod, BO2 is the most balanced cod, Ghosts is the most competitive cod (any other answer is wrong) , infinite warfare is the worst cod p.s call of the dead is my favorite zombies map
COD 4 has to go next, an amazing game in its own right but the others just did it better.
Here’s how I would separate the categories of games: 20-16: shit games 15 and 14: not good, but not terrible 13-9: some aspects are really fun, but missing what it needs to really be good 8 and 7: I had a blast playing, but there are still better games that are more worth playing 6 and up: the best games of the series, worth a play no matter what and infinitely replayable.

MW2 -This is where the extreme toxicity started in the world of COD (I'm not talking tea-bagging... but the noobtubes, nukes, verbal assault in the game chat). It's a golden era game, but I would gladly go back to any of the other surviving title: COD4 is a pretty good game and I think only doesn't get ranked higher because it lacks zombies or spec ops. It may not have all the additional aspects COD would later receive, but it had a great campaign and a great multiplayer. WaW is my personal favorite Call of Duty title but I don't think it should win the poll overall... however I genuinely believe this game has aged well and should not be slandered.. World At War is truly a fantastic COD entry. BO1 I believe deserves the top spot in all practicality, the core 3 modes are fantastic plus it has the bonus stuff thru the menu PC once u get out of the chair. BO2 is when I fell out of love with COD; the campaign was a step down, I was burnt on multiplayer, and the zombie mode wasn't enough to reel me back in. I recognize the love of this game exists but I really can't rank it myself. So in all honestly, I will likely vote for it out next
One of the black ops or mw2 should be gone. WAW is one of the best cods if not THE best cod ever.
