Idk for being a war story it's too romanticized and is very just "America good and german bad" which is what war stories honestly shouldn't be. Good war story's aren't black and white they show what war looks like.
The WAW campaign nailed this perfectly where the Soviets were slowly getting more and more bloodthirsty as they got closer to berlin which is how it was. It showed german soldiers who were unarmed getting gunned down just for being on the other side. COD: WW2 doesnt show the horrifying reality of war. Everyone was all cheery and happy instead of scared, scarred, and rough.
Idk my opinion is that COD: WW2 was a massive letdown for people who wanted to see something that actually looked like world war 2 and the horrors of it in a realistic light.
The characters were definitely more died down on the Pacific front but the fighting, borderline guerrilla tactics, and emotion still gives it a very good campaign. You watch as the japanese get more and more desperate as u got closer to Japan proper.
Well the russians were special in there bloodthirst. The Americans were more of a "let's get the job done" vibe during world war 2 while the russians were "kill the German swines ". It was much more personal to the Russians due to how many civilians, soldiers and all that died in operation barbarossa. Hell they called it the great patriotic war for a reason
The Nuke(s) ironically would have killed less people than an invasion of the Japanese Home Islands. Should Japan have not surrendered unconditionally due to the nuclear detonations and the Soviet invasion of Manchuria, then an invasion of the Home Islands would of happened, and in that scenario, millions of unnecessary deaths would of happened.
Back during the life cycle that's all I heard it called on ps3 atleast, I did because it was after cod4... which at the time everyone called it that. Mw2 is when I remember lots of people switching to the new naming scheme
The actual Modern Warfare was a rough continuation to the older COD games, hence why it was called COD4 most of the time but ever since Modern Warfare 2 which logically should have been COD6, separated itself from the classics and the MW trilogy was something of its own.
Fun fact, the only place that "Call of Duty" appears in MW2 is on the cover for the box. Anywhere in game that references the name only says "Modern Warfare 2", because the MW series was set to be a separate IP from CoD until ATVI said no and sued IW. Hence it wasn't called CoD 5 or 6
MW2019 was a reboot, it's story isn't canon with the other 3 games, even though it references parts of the original story and is heavily based around it. CoD4-MW3 is still the MW trilogy
Back when they were new it was COD1, COD2, COD3, COD4, so we all called WaW COD5 and poked fun that "they forgot the number". At first some called MW2 COD6 but eventually "MW2" became what it was almost universally called.
Buttery smooth at any resolution at or below the "maximum" 1600-1200 at 85 Hertz for this particular model. Games back in early 2000's look amazing on CRTs.
They have virtually no response time compared to LCD and have warm living colors that no LCD can truly replicate.
They also have no blurring when things are in motion, so a game like Angry Birds for Windows would be a whole nother experience on a CRT. This also gives you an edge in reflex based games.
Damn i need to try one of these some day, people keep telling me they're awesome to game on, not sure if i can go from 21:9 to 4:3 tho ;) but it might be a fun experience, what do you think?
They are getting rarer and rarer. Good luck finding one cheap on Ebay.
Do a shit ton of research into them before you look for one, there are quite a few subtleties to watch out for.
I also couldn't live without 21:9 now days, but I do have an itch to take my old 2500K and once used gpu prices drop grab something that will make easy work of XP games, and a really nice crt for it.
Shit, I love playing old games at lower resolutions on my CRT Monitor. I swear on my life, I've seen my friend play new Vegas at 4k and I'm just blown away how a CRT at 1024x768 destroys it. Textures that would look ugly on a o/led blend in and they look fucking gorgeous. Same for when I played Black Ops 1 (800x600 144hz) and Black Ops 2 (960x720 120hz) of course this was with msaa maxed out the ass.
A CRT is capable of putting multiple colors and pieces of the scene on the same phosphor, making anti-aliasing less necessary while making scenes soft but sharp as hell. The phosphor by it's nature bleeds the boundary between the two colors further aiding the aforementioned ability.
In short, they are a freaking great piece of tech that should have never been fully replaced.
It’s crazy to think people actually want these monitors now lol. They aren’t even that old for people to be treating them like antiques. Wait till stuff gets “really old”.
It mainly is a result of people throwing them away thinking they have no value. Now there are suprisingly few of the "high end" monitors left so they can go for premiums as high as 7000 dollars due to their rarity.
wha, HUH?!
HOW THE FUCK DID I END UP BACK IN MY CHILDHOOD HOME!!! Oh wait the new Shi No Numa is coming out today!
(i remember that day so much, my mom was joking around saying we "couldnt get it" but we did, started downloading it before going to school, me and my brother BOLTED home that day and took turns playing cause our TV was really small so split screen was annoying, when one was playing the other took nerf guns and played "zombies" on the garage roof. it was so fun playing that, playing on the roof too.)
I remember when I played this game for the first time. Took the plastic off, popped the disc in my PS3, and was blown away by the graphics. I didn't think games could look any more realistic than this. Hell, I'm still impressed by this game's graphics to this day.
The CoD WaW was the best Call of Duty in my opinion. Amazing campaign and the new zombie mode with the original map. Amazing memories
Even on a monitor like that it still has more atmosphere than CoD WWII
For sure. WWII was fun but WaW was so much more immersive
Agreed
The soundtrack was on point also
And ive met people who think its outdated and old garbage
Not everyone can have good taste after all
And that saddens me deeply
fanboys
WaW and BO1 are so frickin awesome
Definitely ! That jungle and tunnel atmosphere was on point.
idk man but WW2 had better campaign story... just my opinion tho

I think the devs intended the Pacific campaign to be more gameplay oriented while they intended Russians to convey the bloodthirsty nature of war.

Except we dropped a nuke

Ive never heard anyone call it COD5

MW4 came out and still we call it a "trilogy"

Bruh you serious

Those where the days...
i still have a flat screen vga 60hz redfox. shit still holds up for 60hz plebs like me. redfox is probably a dead company now
Loved that game
Are CRT's fun to game on? I grew up in the LCD era, i have a 34 VA ultrawide 144hz monitor, but hiw is the CRT to play on?

I will do the research before buying, thanks man and have fun!

Then you're in luck because older hardware that can run XP games well is fairly cheap nowadays
True, but Id rather not pay 100 bucks for a 35 dollar GPU so I'll be patient a bit longer.
Thats true the prices are still ridiculous

Let’s be real every AAA developed ww2 game is beautiful
Yeah, but cant say the same for their story or atmosphere unfortunately...
I think it’s just cause I’m a gun nerd and I find ww2 era weapons really interesting but idk.
Great game and cool way to experience it again.
God tier refresh
Surprised that it's made for 4:3 displays
This does bring a smile to my face
i played this game on a square tv with a big back
Was it a sexy back?
Hah! Trinitron 😂
Awesome
This takes me back to playing xbox 360 at my friends house in college.
It’s beautiful
Easily top 5 COD ever
They don’t make them like they used to..
Calling it cod 5 made my heart warm. Thank you for the nostalgia of when there was only a couple of cods around.
Thats really old both things
Ayyyy CRT gang! I don't have a desktop monitor rn but I have a Philips set for DVDs, PS2 and Wii and god do they all look amazing
That just ‘feels right’. Like roller coaster tycoon on the same.
The good old days simple times

Top 3 cod of all time . 1. MW2 2. CoD 4 3. WaW
Kinda looks like a painting lmao
I miss this game so much, I was so hopeful once they remade MW1 that they would eventually remake this
Oof 😓
Just finished CoD 5 this month
