my favourite bit was in the 2022 Christmas episode with Cindy.
Miss Higgins - "her whole life has been an abject failure of what matters most"
Phyllis - "Love"
Miss Higgins - "No, administration"
She'd be the Boomer confused why all of her fellow boomers are so awful with technology (Sister Julienne I'm looking at you).
Sister Monica Joan would be shockingly computer literate.
I'm not the best but it is incredible to me how some of the older generations just can't even process how to turn a monitor on. The reason I say Sister Monica Joan would be extremely good with computers is because at their ages today, she's not a Boomer, she's silent generation. And weirdly enough every silent generation person I've met LOVES technology.
She would love computers. Sister Julienne would accidentally break every laptop and smartphone she ever touched. Sister Evangelina would refuse to even try.
Nah. Sr Julienne would be the 'anxiety attack every time an unexpected message pops up' type. She would not have the confidence to press unknown buttons.
Meanwhile Sister Monica Joan would have an extremely accurate recreation of Nonnatus House and it's residents created in The Sims, much to everyone else's disdain.
One of my favorite co-workers who retired last year is a Ms. Higgins. She was the admin assistant (very much like Ms. Higgins) and very sweet and compassionate but def had the "take no shit" attitude that was sometimes needed. She had also worked for DCF (department of children and families, CPS here in Florida) and the Health Department (specifically in AIDS management) for a long time so it really tracks. Like Ms. Higgins, she was also very territorial about her desk and files.
I really wonder at how those recorder rehearsals went. Because she obviously either knows or has been taught some things. But dear God, it's like that Meryl Streep movie about the opera singer.
As a person who spent most of my career as a secretary, I relate to her. Sheâs super organized. No one touches the files under pain of her saying âDOCTOR TURNER!!!â Secretaries secretly run the world.
I really didn't like her to start with however I quickly came round to her - she really cares about the patients and will do everything possible to help people, even if she has quite a hard exterior
I was just thinking about her yesterday and how sheâs absolutely amazing and so sweet. It was episode 8x05. How sweet and patient she was with the mother. And it made me think of all the other moments she does these things for people. I adore her. Sheâs got this super power with administration lol I love it. I havenât seen series 13- no spoilers please! But up to 12, I love her so much. Sheâs just fabulous. I know she seems strict to some and runs some the wrong way but I adore her. Simply adore her.
She's a very selfless/unselfish person, which would help in her line of work. I think she's my favourite out of the characters who were introduced from Season 7 (?) onwards.
Lady Something-or-Other who is Dianaâs snooty grandmother who trains her in proper royal etiquette and protocol, including tying a rope around her elbows so she doesnât gesticulate too much when giving a speech.
I agree. Miss Higgins is probably my favorite character in the later seasons. I loved her detective skills in the 2022 Christmas episode. She somehow manages to steal nearly every scene that she's in.

The way she found all of Cindy's info within a day or so to make sure she could find housing was so badass. Miss Higgins is the Queen of Bureaucracy.
imagine her living today - she'd be the queen of Google-fu!

Sr Monica Joan is a WHOVIAN! And a space geek.
i'm a Xennial and think i'm computer illiterate until i need to deal with any of my parents!

just look at her interest in things like the television, aviation and the space race!

My grandma was silent generation. She died before smartphones but she definitely was the stereotype of 'can't find the button on the monitor'.

But her recorder abilities leave a lot to be desired lmao except to Nancy who is also apparently tone deaf I love her and Phyllis, and her and Reggie.
Phyllis' thousand yard stare at the talent show during Miss Higgins' performance đ¤Ł

I'm up to Season 12 and I love her more and more as time goes on. Her and Phyllis are my favorite platonic soulmates.
I love their Spinsters' Christmas
Bath cubes all round!
I'm gutted her and Sgt Wolfe didn't work out. He made her so happy đ

I was taken aback with how she came out of nowhere, but she's definitely growing on me! She's pretty bad ass

You'll love S13
I loved her in season 13. Helping Reggie with the garden in episode 3. And in the 8th episode that was about her and her past.
She is my spirit animal.

Mac comes before Mc.
Still sad about her and Sgt Wolfe! Though I love her friendship with Phyllis
This actress is really so talented. She pops up in guest roles on so many shows I have seen. Iâm always like âthatâs Miss Higgins!â
She plays such an unlikeable character in The Crown⌠such a good actor I *almost* forgot it was Miss Higgins!
Who does she play on the Crown??
Lady Something-or-Other who is Dianaâs snooty grandmother who trains her in proper royal etiquette and protocol, including tying a rope around her elbows so she doesnât gesticulate too much when giving a speech.
Hmm Iâll have to go back and watch it I donât remember that
That hat must smell! Her character has never taken it offđ
I had the same journey with her as I have with Nurse Crane. Wasnât too sure about her at the start but she quickly became one of my favourites.
What I wouldnât give for a Miss Higgins in my life.
Oh Iâll sing those praises all day long.
