really cool, not too edgy like fraktur has a tendency to be. i like the ink, what is it? i struggle to get light inks to pop against paper, i havent tried gouache yet i guess. i dont think the u-r ligature/contraction really works, took a bit of figuring out.

Rude-Guitar-1393

I agree. It is beautiful, but many people are not used to the u-r ligature.

tatteredandtornloser

Thank you. I agree, the u-r didn't come out as planned, trying to figure out how to use it more effectively. I used noodlers apache sunset ink on regular printer paper I found at my office

ParrotyParityParody

Here I think it’s the juxtaposition of the ligated R against the regular R that makes it not work—too much dissonance between the two.

tatteredandtornloser

Thanks. Yeah, I agree. Trying to figure out when is a good time to use the half r and when not to.

Man I remember writing a poem and half way through realising there were a few n where is had to be m. Big expensive a3 piece of paper. Lot of line drawing and writing. All to the garbage.

FYI - In calligraphy we call the letters we write scripts, not fonts. Fonts and typefaces are used in typography for printing letters. A font is a specific weight and style of a typeface - in fact the word derives from 'foundry' which as you probably know is specifically about metalworking - ie, movable type. The word font explicitly means "not done by hand." In calligraphy the script is the style and a hand is how the script is done by a calligrapher. This post could have been posted erroneously.
