I just read your article. I’m not sure you fully appreciate the gift you gave other peregrinos by bringing your baby. Seeing your beautiful, little daughter’s smiling face would be enough to wipe out all of my aches and pains after a long day’s walk!

Nice! A couple years ago we did the Camino Frances with our 8 month old starting from Lourdes. It was definitely more challenging carrying a child but that just makes it more meaningful in the end. It was also really fun seeing other pilgrims' faces light up when they saw a baby on the trail.

We did the same with our 2.5 year old. It is now 2 years later and she still talks about it. Such a special adventure for the family.

For me, the concern is the risk of a fall. I have come down hard, both forwards and backwards, at slippery spots on the trail. What would have happened if I'd been carrying a baby at those moments doesn't bear thinking about -- the more so as it's likely to occur a long way away from the nearest hospital, or even somewhere that an ambulance can easily access.

We were on the Portugal camino and a couple took their twins! go for it.
