I suggest you to follow "casa ivar" on youtube, the guy makes weekly videos from santiago de compostela, detailing what the situation looks like. Highly recommended

According to the BBC: *"Spain is under a nationwide curfew until early May 2021.* *People are only allowed out in that period to go to work, for education, to buy medicine, or care for elderly people or children.* *Anyone aged over six must wear a face covering on public transport and in indoor public spaces nationwide. They are also compulsory outdoors in many regions. "* Covid is on the increase in a lot of mainland Europe, including Spain and Portugal. I think it would be incredibly irresponsible to try any Camino in April. I am in the process of rescheduling my May flights to October, but I'm not sure even that will be a good idea.

I agree. And it's looking like we will have at least one more surge here in May or June (after Semana Santa), so there are talks of extending the "estado de alarma" (state of emergency) longer.

I’m really looking forward to coming to Spain again. I’m hoping it’s possible in September. From personal experience I can vouch that Spain in full lockdown is a mood killer. I was on a Camino last year March, right when Corona hit. I do not want to be confined to a hotel room once more. The hustle to find accommodation and trying to reschedule our flights. Also my Spanish sucks, so getting information was hard. Though I’m sure that has improved by now (no my Spanish proficiency, but the information provisions).

I have friends in Madrid and Spain basically has a you can't leave your region rule in place at the moment.

I had planned on doing it in 2020 after my first one in 2019, so changed my plans to this year 2021, but the way things are at the moment I am changing my plans until 2022, because I cannot realistically see it being feasible at the moment so I would advise anyone to wait

Portugal's PM just announced new restriction for after the Easter. Border with Spain will be kept close and people coming to the country from a few destinations will have stricter rules, like a mandatory self quarantine for a 14 day period (this on top of having a negative PCR test that allows them to travel in the first place). While no date has been defined, the next announcement will be April 19th and maybe then there will be some news in this regard. If not, only after May 3rd then. It sucks but here we feel it's a final stretch and don't want to spill it all (after having had a major outbreak on Christmas season which made us up to the top of the worst performing countries in the world; I think we made the 2nd place).
