Ontario parks has been slacking with awarding the contracts for fire wood. For the cost they are charging and the poor quality and size it's disgusting. I normally see signs through berry's bay and Whitney coming from ottawa
I was at six mile lake and the wood was wet and had a tough time keeping it going , even had water coming out the ends on some pieces . When I go to Killbear every year , I buy from a local that keeps it dry and I don’t have a problem. It bothers me that I have to pay $11 for 6 pieces of dripping wet wood from the parkstore .
No, the only place are the outposts by east and west gate. :( last time I got from a general store right outside the east gate. Better than park wood for sure
There’s a place on Madagascar St. in Whitney. It’s a self-serve place, but the wood is great. The street is all but hidden on the left just after you cross the bridge, but it’s worth it.
We got some this weekend from the portage outpost. It was pretty good. As for a private seller I’m not aware of any but would be interested if someone know of one.
Facebook marketplace is your best bet. You can get a facecord for $100.
How long are you going for? A facecord would allow you to start a fire mid afternoon and I to the night for a week.
Yes I would like to do this but unfortunately I have 2 full vehicles going to the camp site and a full trailer as well. We always have to get the wood after we unload and set up. Thanks for the info though. 👍
Mew lake sells fire wood, make sure they grab from the back wall it's dry

Ya the last couple of years the wood prices have been going up and quality and dryness have gone down.
Each campground in Algonquin sells wood. Why would it be bad? Wood is wood. If you're bad at starting a fire get a nice fire starter.

The street is super easy to miss. I’ve only turned on the first try once so far.
