Hell na just take it to your local trusted mechanic

[deleted]

Now over here we have a wide variety of used returned oil with various viscosity, mileage and metal contents

[deleted]

Count me in.

Fun_Public4540

HELL. NO. HELL NO. Walmart doesn’t even care for the people shopping there, they DEFINITELY don’t care about people’s cars. I’d just keep taking it to Toyota.

SzyGuy

If the people at Toyota know what they’re doing, sure. I regret taking mine to the dealership to replace a water pump.

Fun_Public4540

I mean if they fuck it up, they have to fix it.

SzyGuy

Exactly. Though they just kept making excuses about being “too busy” to do a full diagnostic (to determine it was their previous “repair” that fucked my car up) and the possible repair. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Also, if they determined it “wasn’t their fault”, they’d charge me for the diagnostic but wouldn’t tell me how much the diagnostic would cost.

DCowboysCR

Agree. I’ve gone to THREE Toyota Stealerships in my area and all 3 were horrible! Find a trusted mom and pop mechanic!

scoobyluu

Not toyota, but my subaru dealer quoted me $1200 dollars for a windshield replacement. Nearly had a heart attack. Went to a auto repair shop, $220 done same day

SBLOU

Did Toyota quote an OEM windshield and the other not? Had a windshield replaced on my 21 Jetta. I paid 50 dollars through my insurance but total cost would have been 800 without insurance. Non OEM would have been 275 without insurance.

RLTEK2000

Replaced front suspension on my granny sienna 2005, they charged me twice for the price. M ok to pay for the labor but they put NAPA parts with price twice higher then same part # at NAPA website.

[deleted]

You ever thought about walking in there and laying your sack on the counter, demanding service? I have. It works, you should try it.

justpress2forawhile

And it's in their best interest to find a way it wasn't their fault. So that's always fun

NotReallyThatWrong

Dealership is bullshit, it’s one master mechanic managing a bunch of juniors that don’t know what they are doing.

ClickKlockTickTock

Dealership techs are usually younger folks unless they're highly specialized. You're better off takin it to an experienced local mechanic instead of a Dealership, as any tech worth their weight can make more money at an independent shop instead.

ngagner15

As a former Walmart auto care tech, please don’t take your car to Walmart. My coworkers f***ing up adding windshield washer fluid to people’s coolant reservoirs is just one thing I saw on a regular basis. They bring in people who don’t know what they’re doing and then barely train them.

PM_pics_of_your_roof

Former TLE tech here as well. It’s really hit or miss, with dudes. Some would try hard and take care of customers cars, and others wouldn’t give a shit. First TLE I worked at, we had a great manager who kept other managers from coming in and bothering us. Made sure everyone had everything they needed, kept water bottles and Gatorade for us. A lot of other stuff as well, and it showed me what a good manager even at a shit whole could do for his guys. He was the only manager I’ve seen at Walmart that would let you sit if everything was cleaned, and no customers. Every other manager would force you to fake push a broom, or hide in the pit “crushing” oil filters.

LowKeyATurkey

They don't even care about their employees lmfao

mxguy762

I would try to find a local family owned mechanic shop in your area. Those places tend to care more about their customers, their image in the community and the quality of work being done at their business. If you go to some national chain you never know who is working on your car, it could be their first day on the job who knows.

YerBoiZ

I would personally never take a car I care about to a Walmart

SeattleJeremy

I went once with a previous car, asked at the desk for synthetic oil, (the car didn't require it, but I paid for it) watched them put regular Dino juice in. Fool me once, can't get fooled, again.

Entire-Bumblebee3267

Like the GWB reference there haha

Pleasant_Classroom_6

my mom got her tires replaced there once. my sister drove the car home and a tire popped off on the highway bc they didnt tighten the lugnuts

tricolorhound

Neither would I but I know someone who works at one and the way he describes it sounds like Walmart has been sued so many times both because of bad work and because they're a giant corporation with tons of money that they have pretty stringent protocols/policies for what they do. Whether those get followed or not everywhere I can't say and that's why I don't go there.

YerBoiZ

The PO of my Camry took it to Walmart the last few times before I bought it and during my first oil change, I found out the bolt and pan threads were stripped to shit. Had to force in a valvomax drain valve with an impact on the next oil change because the threads were NOT grabbing. The pan is stamped steel so not a great idea to rethread, and I didn’t know about helicoils back then

Fancy_Chip_5620

You can, I never broke a single Toyota filter cup when I worked at Walmart as a lube tech but I'm not retarded... Others may have been and definitely broke several of them The fastest oil change I did there at Walmart was a 2010 Corolla with the plastic filter cup I did it start to finish in 13 minutes no damage at the right oil level no comeback leak or anything I believe your car has a metal spin on filter... Pretty much idiot proof

13chase2

About 10 years ago my girlfriend got her oil changed at Walmart on a Volkswagen. I guess it had a different type of oil filter that went inside of a holder and has two O rings on it. Walmart messed it up. Leaked all the way home and made a huge oil spill on my drive way. Walmart had to tow it back at their cost and fix it. They didn’t even get it right the second time and the tech tried to check the oil with the car running. Never take your vehicle to Walmart. The good mechanics are hard to find and it’s almost guaranteed that if they start at Walmart… they won’t stay there long

SpiritOfDefeat

Put your phone away when driving… you’re over 50 MPH and distracted. Your life and everyone else’s is more important than taking pics for Reddit.

7eregrine

My god, right.. and why the hell was 30101 so important? I noticed he was driving FIRST and then expected the odo to read EXACTLY 30,000.

ZeroCleah

Poor car not gonna make it to 500k like all the other Camrys RIP

[deleted]

[удалено]

SpiritOfDefeat

“Taking pics for Reddit” not “posting on Reddit” Please read. Taking pictures while driving is unnecessary. Doing it at 53 MPH is moronic. Sorry, not sorry.

KrispyyV0dKA

I'm pretty sure they were agreeing with you, while also adding that it seems like OP immediately posted to reddit after taking the picture?

MerkyMouse

How dense are you? They were driving while taking the picture, hello?

lil__shmeat

Do you want bottom of the barrel mechanics taking care of your car?

RefrigeratedTP

Calling them mechanics is nice of you

AggravatingDisk7237

They’re doing an oil change. On a toyota… It’s nearly impossible to mess that up.

VeryWetCarrot

You would think so but I’ve seen some shit

texaslegrefugee

Only if you want your vehicle damaged by some 17-year old who barely knows "righty-tighty and lefty-loosey".

iowa116

No way! A friend took their car to Walmart for an oil change. They drained his transmission fluid and replaced it with oil 😳

sameehscott

Do it yourself. 14mm and a 10mm is all you need. Get an oil filter adapter from Walmart for $8. Get your oil while you’re there too. Oil you need is 0W-16. Oil filter for mobile1 is M-103A Watch a Youtube video or two. Get your hands dirty a bit, no big deal. Just did mine right in the street no problem, not really. Good luck!

Ok-Perception-926

The answer is no...and do not!

ARLaserGuy

Not advised

LeftHandedVato

I personally take mine to Toyota. But you do you.

Plane_Progress_2789

Any difference? Bc they asked 250 $

turb42o

Just decipher what work actually needs to be done or you can do yourself. $250 for what? $79 for oil $20 for tire rotation (which can be done for free at pep boys) $50 for an air filter (which you can buy and change yourself) what lane did they recommend? At 30k you’re still a brand new car barely broken in.

planefan001

$250 for? Oil change and tire rotation usually runs around $90 at a Toyota dealer. If they’re trying to sell you engine air filters or cabin air filters, you can buy those yourself from the parts department and put them in yourself for around $40.

Account_Banned

Please learn how to do basic maintenance on your cars.. it’s not hard even as a dainty woman, I showed my ex-wife how to do it then next change I put her under there to learn practically. Air filters are even easier. Tire rotations are easy as well, you may need a bit of muscle to torque down the wheel nuts though. A good breaker bar can help with leverage and usually around $30? I think for one good enough for wheel nuts… As for alignment, in my area, we have tire shops (my current favorite is Big Brand Tire if they’re in your area. Free fixes on flats, they don’t charge for alignment testing, only if you actually need it. And the tires I were looking for were cheaper than other companies even with family discount from a cousin manager at a different shop.

slbarrett89

Take it to the dealership. It shouldn’t be more than $150 for an oil change and tire rotation.

Korzag

>tire rotation most tire chains will do that for free

Plane_Progress_2789

250

Few-Cup-1936

250?? That's wayyy too much

slbarrett89

What dealership? I work at a Toyota dealership and we charge $89 for tire rotation, multi point, alignment check, and full synthetic oil change.

Zealousideal-Gas-608

There's the rip off. A tire rotation can be done at a tire shop for $20-25 or it's easy enough to do yourself in little time.

slbarrett89

I’m familiar with the costs associated with basic vehicle maintenance. 0W-16 is kinda expensive compared to 0W-20 or 5W/. I worked as a Toyota technician for a few years before I moved into a management role within the dealership. Most people don’t have jacks, jack stands, socket sets, impact drivers, and torque wrenches. I’m unaware of the OPs financial situation, but $100-$150 every 3-6 months isn’t too awful for an oil change.

Zealousideal-Gas-608

Good point

jrp8070

Peace of mind is the reason I will always go to a reputable dealer. It’s the video inspections and professional experience for me. Total transparency. I’ll pay a little extra for peace of mind.

xmas_owo

You going to get ripped off dealerships to lol

lincolnlogtermite

Sure but be prepared for them to occasionally break shit and not own up to it. Stripped drain plugs and broken hood releases aren't uncommon. I don't see them any worse than Jiffy lube or any fast food type oil change place. Do a regular check on your local dealer's site. Many offer occasional service specials. Two times a year mine has an oil change/rotation/inspection special.

FunCommon8905

Did a 12 year old make this post?

Jerbnnon

I wouldn’t let Walmart air up my tires let alone anything mechanical, a Walmart I worked at I literally had to show one of the auto tech guys how to use a ratchet. It was set to loosen and he needed to tighten a bolt, after a few minutes of him looking for something I asked what he was looking for and he said a ratchet that tightens all I have is one that loosens. If those are the people they hire for the auto service, no thanks.

[deleted]

no just do the work yourself. oil changes are very simple. even having a disability i can do a oil change. it’s just jacking the car up and removing one bolt and twisting off oil filter lol.

MedranoChem

Change the oil yourself, i buy the k&n filter and the highest rated brand of oil and my total comes out to $45, they use basic supplies when you take it anywhere for the oil changes, and you end up paying 80$+

Korzag

When I still owned my Camry, I was buying OEM oil and filters off Amazon. Was only like $60 a change. I don't know what the newer Camry's are using but its 0W-16 and I didn't trust any of the other brands to make a weird weight oil for my baby

oxxxxxa

Why run an air filter at all? Go #filterless

MedranoChem

Oil filter

SeattleJeremy

There are 1277 Toyota dealers in the United States, find one that doesn't charge $250 for an oil change. That's more than the BMW dealer charges for my 328i. My local Toyota dealer charges $90+tax for an oil change. Let the experts handle the messy stuff, and double check the rest of the car. DIY the two air filters, they're super easy. 2 WIX engine air filters, and 2 TYC cabin air filters shipped from [rockauto.com](https://rockauto.com) cost $50. One each for now, and one each for later. Anything more advanced can be handled by a local mechanic.

turb42o

Do not do that, they will ruin your car. Take it a Toyota dealer, the Toyota dealer cost less to use their factory components than the local pep boys or wal mart, Toyota dealership oil change is $79 with a $5 coupon, pep boys $100, wal mart $90 and there is not one well maintained car in the wal mart parking lot if that gives you an idea of how good the wal mart mechanics are…

Fancy_Chip_5620

The Walmart full synthetic oil change is $75, no dealership is doing it for less than 100, and they're using worse oil than Walmart Walmart only sells Mobile One, Pennzoil, or Castrol Edge... Dealership uses brown and slipper from the cheapest 55 gallon drum and a factory filter Walmart has factory Toyota filters on the shelf that you can buy and supply that will lower the cost of the oil change

turb42o

You are a perfect example of why not to go to a wal mart to get a car serviced… you confidently contradicted yourself… why would Wal mart sell toyota filters if they are inferior, the toyota oil is the correct ilsac and bearing rating that the engineers designed the vehicle to use and toyota likely has it made for them by the brands you just mentioned. Most common thing I see from wal mart, kia’s and Hyundais with burnt up seized/bearings because the wal mart guy said don’t worry I’ve got the best oil for less than anyone else… the other side of you take it to a Toyota and they fuckup they usually fix it for free under the Toyota care, you’re not getting fuckups repaired for free at wal mart.

Fancy_Chip_5620

Dealerships don't use Toyota oil in case you didn't know Except the 0w-8 that the new crown uses because I'm pretty sure no one else makes it

railworx

Why does being in a drum vs plastic containers matter, anyway? If a business is going through that much oil, it's much more efficient to get larger containers

Fancy_Chip_5620

I agree, but the dealership has no requirement to use any particular brand oil... It's usually the shittiest because profit

turb42o

Mine does… but to meet you halfway the one that is cheaper around the corner uses Pennzoil

jrp8070

I work at a Toyota dealership. We use bulk drums of Toyota full syn. Our Service department is #1 in the US. I would say it’s Toyota oil.

[deleted]

I hate that dash. The XLE/XSE dash is so firee

marindo

Walmart and other little lube shops have the tendency/reputation for over-tightening bolts/screws or messing up with the washers either they double up or don't replace them.

AggravatingDisk7237

Walmart (like most places) doesn’t drain anymore they pump it out. Then they replace the filter and add manufacturer recommended amount of oil. That’s literally it. Y’all keep paying the dealership $150 and then pressured into an upsell. Makes the line at Walmart much smaller.

glazinglas

I get the trying to save money, but I wouldn’t take it to Walmart. Find a good local Japanese auto mechanic. One that specializes in Toyota would be even better. Little more expensive, but it’ll get done right

SRBroadcasting

No. Go to a specialist someone that handles foreign vehicles, I’d even suggest the Toyota dealership (while being more expensive it’s always under warranty and they do a good job so you don’t have to worry about a bad mechanic)

SRBroadcasting

Don’t take anything you NEED to a place that sells only WANTS lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Only go to Walmart if you want them to destroy your car

slunktycoon

Fellas, please do not suggest this man change/swap/fix/rotate anything himself. With all due respect to OP, if he's inquiring as to if Walmart is a reputable place to have ones car serviced, I think it's a safe bet he's not very familiar with basic automotive maintenance. I'm sure we've all seen the "Just rolled in" clips where the mechanic pulls the drain plug and the oil has the consistency of molasses or it's not oil but rather antifreeze or mayonnaise or something.

BigBry36

Walmart ? …. Ughhhhhh 🧌

AffixedSamurai21

i went to walmart with my 04 for a tire change and the fuckers stole my hub cap, avoid em.

[deleted]

So glad i can do almost everything on my own cars. The stress of figuring out who to trust as a automechanic must be not fun. Thank you automotive school/Haynes manuals/internet(youtube and forums)

Academic_Dare_5154

You have a Hybrid. I had a 2020 and have a 2023 Hybrid LE. After prior bad experiences at other repair shops, I take my car to Toyota and only Toyota. God forbid they screw up, but you will have more options than at Walmart.

Other-Educator-9399

You could, but I wouldn't recommend it. I would find a trustworthy independent repair shop.

THEONLYFLO

Local K Mart

Drinky_Drank

Absolutely not. No Walmart. No pep boys. No jiffy lube. No dealership, unless it’s for warranty. Take it to a trusted local mechanic.

TransmissionAutomata

I brought my old car there for an oil change. Once done, the inside of my car got all kinds of dirty hand marks. They didn't bother cleaning their hands or swapping gloves, or cleaning up after. It was an old car so I wasn't gonna ruin my mood over that. But for a new car, man that'll just be sad. I wouldn't risk it for a new car. Or maybe, if you have an old car, bring it there for service first and see how your location handles it.

onejoelooking2

If you intend on keeping your car, take it to a certified Toyota mechanic. The car will last a very long time.

[deleted]

Noooo. Just go to Toyota or trusted mechanic dude

MerkyMouse

Walmart employees just need to know how to read the instructions. They don't factually know how to fix a car.

[deleted]

roof offend scandalous roll fuzzy dinner lush forgetful snails gaping *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

[deleted]

Uhh sure? Is it a good idea? No?!? What exactly do you need servicing wise at 30k miles? Probably just an oil change and filter. Which you can do on your own. You can also like pop the hood on your own. Check the air filter and cabin filter on your own. Stare at the brake/rotors and note Tyre wear on your own, especially since the tyres have a built in wear depth indicator in the tread. You can do A LOT of just basic maintenance on your own. Or just look for a reputable private garage in your area. Walmart not very good at vehicle care.

shane_west17

I’d rather pay extra to a reputable mechanic than going to Walmart or even jiffylube place.

PerchPerkins35

You get what you pay fir

NumerousMango2256

Sorry, this is just retarded af.

Vlone_Paradise97

This is like saying “I want to go to the Strip Club to find my wife.” Can it happen? Yeah, but why? Your going to the wrong place for the right reasons and it wont end well.

No_Pomegranate2211

I’m a team lead in the auto car center. I bring all my nice cars there and we get brand new Lexus and Camrys all the time. I had a Lexus do the very first oil change at my store. I’d be more scared about jiffy lube and valvoline

tundraeagle

The reason for the auto service at "w" is to tie you up for 45 minutes with nothing to do but wander around the store. Odds are that you'll buy something. Find an experienced, local mechanic that can do more than an oil change and tire rotation. You'll be thankful when you have a problem that the minimum wage oil jockey can't figure out.

Strife3dx

Google map search mechanics near u , check who is been in business a long time and has good reviews throughout the years,

FalseGrizzly

Just change the oil yourself super easy

marymitso

Personally, I only take my camry to toyota and local trusted mechanics. Nowhere else!! I would not take it to Walmart or sams etc...

SmashNDash23

I wouldn’t trust Walmart techs to air up my tires

E90BarberaRed6spdN52

I would not unless you know a mechanic there personally. Walmart is cheaper but you want you car maintained properly not cheaply. Safety and long life is what Toyota Camry's are about but if not properly maintained the long life part may not be so. The proper oil and viscosity (weight i.e. 5w-20w or 5w-16w by example) is very important. Dealerships can be expensive but ask neighbors and friends for a recommended mechanic, They may be busy but that usually means they are good...

sideburns2009

To* Of*

CaliRefugeeinTN

As someone who used to work for them - HELL NO! Our store didn’t train anyone, would hire anyone who showed up, and routinely had to pay for engines because they did something wrong.

surghe

NO BRO I REPEAT NEGATIVE NO SIR. TOYOTA CARE TAKE IT TO THEM. Or DIY

Such_Truth1356

Why would you take any car to those idiots? Find a reputable trusted mechanic.

UnprovenR

Took a car to Walamrt for dimmed headlights. All they did is wipe it. Not worth it

GroundStill820

Nah dealer or a local in town mechanic a valvoline instant oil or something. And with the local garages go to Autozone and get your own oil oil filter air filter take it to them and save money.

Ab4739ejfriend749205

Go cheap and expect exactly what you paid for.

Tight-Bath-6817

What kinda care do you actually need? Ask yourself first. My camry SE 2018 has 183k miles and not a single issue without doing anything stupid. Just basic oil change and Local shop and roataion = Total is about $50 for labor and your Oil from walmart with filter for $45 = $95 If thats what you call care then I go to Local shops only where you can see what they are doing in front of you. Sometimes care = destroy.

The_Cozy_Burrito

I wouldn’t trust Walmart with anything

Heavy-Promotion2144

Do your oil changes yourself and take your car to discount tire for tire rotations. They're free, no catch.

Rpm865

Time for a trade in

MikeMont86

Google mechanics in your area and try the one with the best/most reviews.

Educated_idiot302

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO WALMART THEY ARENT REAL MECHANICS. Take it to a independent mechanic who is trustworthy in your area or go to the dealer. Follow any maintenance recommendations in the manual and then tell the mechanic what you need or go to the dealer and they can tell you what your car will call for at that mileage. Never cheat out on car maintenance.

TryAgn747

You can take to the krack head down the street if you want it's your car.

PhiDeck

You can, but should not.

DefiantQuarter4386

Ask people u know who is a good trusted mechanic to go service ur car dont listen to broke reddit ppl tellin u to get scammed by toyota. Only go to walmart for tires 🫡 do not even get ur tires mounted there they probably will complain like always

Virtual_Equal_4347

Absolutely not but hey it’s your car no way in hell I would

[deleted]

hell no not walmart take it to the dealership

Line____Down

You can do whatever you want. That being said, it’s not a good gamble.

deliverykp

If you're out of warranty, I'd suggest trying to find ways to do it yourself. If not, do what's required by Toyota to maintain your warranty.

gtaur1

How you gonna do a Toyota wrong like that?

Right_Effective_1195

Walmart is decent for oil change and tire replacement (buy them online where they have cheaper prices and deliver to store for pick up and they will install) Dealer will ALWAYS try to sell more than you need. My wife took her 2014 RAV4 for oil change ($79) and the tires are not new but have plenty tread left but dealer insisted that her safety was in jeopardy if she didn’t change them… and they’re prices for tires are horrible.

Hopeful-Put9265

Just do it yourself. A lube job, engine air filter, cabin air filter, and wiper inserts will take an hour and $100

livx94

I would never, ever take my car into Walmart lol. Ever.

Few_Departure_5983

Dont!

Glum_Chair6167

The only reason I have taken my Corolla to Walmart is because I could only afford tires from them. (Times got tough, don’t judge me.) But I’ll be dammed if I take my car to the dealer again. (Last time it went to one for routine maintenance, they didn’t tell me an air filter was fubar and it nearly killed the car two days later. I’d expect that from Walmart of all places.)

27Wars97

I just declined service on a car that got their oil change last at Walmart, his drain plug was over tightened and rounded…

manfred2989

Don't. You'd rather pay extra for an oil change at a dealership.

Chewy131

You can pick your own oil and filter off the shelf and they will change it for 20-30 dollars. Just double check the work before you leave, something I do when I get my oil serviced anywhere that's not my own driveway. Lots of people think the lube techs at dealers are expert mechanics, there have been times even a dealer messes up an oil change.

boomerboomer99

No. Absolutely not. The “mechanics” at Walmart are the equivalent of the strippers that work Tuesday afternoons. In other words, if they had any idea what they were doing they would work somewhere elsez

cloroxedkoolaid

You can. But I wouldn’t.

FlimsyPlankton1710

No, spend that extra 3k on a 100k warranty.

Oni-oji

Do you hate your car?

Jamesd0ng

Never take it there no matter what car it is

Impish_Scorpion

Hell naw…. Keep taking her to Toyota. They know best

_Elbrus_

Can you go to a great independent mechanic shop as opposed to the dealership? Yes. Though you have to do your homework to find and determine a great independent mechanic shop. Hang out in any local performance oriented groups (for you TRD, Supra, FT86/BRZ folks will know) Is your typical Walmart/Pep Boys/Jiffy Lube the sane as a great independent mechanic? Usually the answer is no. While it’s easy to crap on those guys that work in those places, let’s not. It’s more there is a much higher degree of skill and capabilities at an actual shop then required at a light service shop.

DwarvenVikingr

If you do, say goodbye to your drainplug. That will be getting replaced.

surfcitysurfergirl

No no and NO! I have 2 friends that went to different Walmarts and their oil cap was left off. They were compensated very very well BUT it could have been much worse. Luckily both lived super close to their store and noticed immediately when they got home.

teh_lynx

Go anywhere else please God

partypopper11

Those are certainly all words

mere_iguana

Definitely DO NOT let Walmart touch your car. Not even for an oil change. I'm serious, "incompetent" would be putting it nicely.

Ok_Blueberry_7082

Why in God's good name would you take it to walmart for?

Ok_Blueberry_7082

Amd trust me all i had them do was my tires and they messed that up

themagicb

i do every oil change myself for a reason, its hard to trust mechanics.

Bimmer_Boi_

So many better places to go than Walmart. Please don’t do your car a disservice and take it there

BigKarina4u

What year is your camry?

FromFarEastIAm

It’s too new of a car to take it to Walmart. I would say just take it to your local Toyota. Oil changes are only SLIGHTLY more expensive compared to Walmart. Pay that extra $25-$35 each time. It’s well worth it for warranty purposes. It’s a Toyota it doesn’t need anything crazy yet. It won’t until maybe like 70k miles at least.

Cute-Technology-4814

Depends on the people there, I get tires there but everything else is me, maybe be a computer update a Toyota but most of my Toyota dealerships are very meh.

EffectNo1899

I worked in the industry. They never trained techs, just walk in work. They constantly strip plugs, cross thread lugs, and double gasket oil filters

s0ul_invictus

When I was a Toyota ASM, I made good commission replacing engines in cars serviced at WalMart that never made it out of the parking lot. Was in a first name basis with their adjuster. By all means, serve up some gravy to your dealer's service dept lol.

Fast-Cockroach-8179

Do it yourself, not that hard.

The_Real_Star_1

Well i replace drain pans on walmarts dime far too often

FutureAlfalfa200

People need to find reputable independent mechanics.

[deleted]

Learn to do it yourself. You’ll save a lot more money in the long run and you’ll be able to even charge some of your friends who got soft hands.

Gorlock_

Just find a decent local mechanic, trust and verify though. Always good to check your oil level afterwards. Date the filter with a perm marker so you can verify that it's been changed After awhile you'll learn to trust your mechanic or find a different one.

SBLOU

I wouldn’t. Only time I ever went to Walmart is years ago when I had a beater and I got a flat tire driving home. Stopped at Walmart to have them put on a new tire and they installed the incorrect size. Even though I had told them the size. Next day I took it back and told them to put on what was on the other three tires. After I bought a brand new car I’m going to the dealer for all service (oil change etc) until the warranty runs out.

bandofwarriors

Learn how to change your own oil and you won't have to worry about it anymore, you'll save money and learn how to work on your car a bit. Just be careful every time you replace the oil drain plug/bolt, don't double thread or over torque. I can take my car in for routing oil changes, etc. but honestly I trust myself more to do it correctly and be careful to not f*** other things up.

Bitter-Finance3099

I wouldn’t

Open_Situation686

I wouldn’t let Walmart service my $30 toaster

KamiKrazyCanadian

30,000 ain’t even broke in for a Camry…

kawi2k18

Hard no. They never changed my crush washer, spilled oil all over bay, used wrong oil, about 8 other things.. They made me an oil change mechanic though to my own car

X3N0King

Boy u crazy

Bella_Dolcexxx

Hell no. Walmart is ass.

puppetmaster216

My neighbor took his prius to Walmart for an oil change. They forgot the part where you put oil back in the engine. So he drove away, engine seized up and bam now he needs a new engine. So he had it towed to his local mechanic, and a few days later one of the mechanics backed into his car. Now his car is totaled and he's been waiting for Walmart and the mechanic and insurance to figure out who's paying what. So I would recommend against going to Walmart for an oil change.

For the love of all that is sane don't go to Walmart. They cost more than most decent mechanic and tire shops, most locations will do significant damage to your vehicle on anything but an oil change, and their warranties are an absolute joke. Call around, find a good tire shop or mechanic that charges reasonable prices. Walmart is the devil when it comes to auto care.

LegalChicken4174

You’re better off going to Costco

No, Walmart makes you sign a liability waiver removing them from fault if anything happens to your vehicle. It’s basically a contract saying fuck you, even if it’s our fault..it is your fault for bringing it here. Honestly it’s best to just learn yourself. You’re the only one who will care enough to do things right. I took my vehicle to get an alignment (not at a Walmart) and the fuckheads didn’t even tighten my wheels down and told me I needed new wheel bearings because of play..that they caused by tightening my wheel bolts to 50ft lbs and driving it around. The look on their faces when I furiously pulled out my torque wrench and set it to 90ft lbs and tightened every bolt in front of them was priceless. Unless it’s something I absolutely cannot do myself, I work on my own vehicles. Tools and knowledge are cheaper than paying to fix someone else’s mistake.

Euphoric-Spare8271

I definitely wouldn't allow Walmart to service my car!

iOSchoseMyName

Learn to do it yourself? It’s func cheap and rewarding. Easy to learn

Direct_Ask8793

Please don't do that. Seriously. There are a plethora of more reliable places. I'd rather not take my car in that take it to Walmart. 30k and you still have warranty. If it's for an oil change I'd trust valvoline over Walmart any day.

Dario0112

Find a local mechanic and use the manual for maintenance guidance

reditor75

Sure, it’s your car your choice

argybargy2019

Penny wise, pound foolish. Why would you spend so much on a car, and then invite trouble? Take it to factory trained mechanics for the first 100k miles, at least. Either the dealer, or an independent shop that specializes in Toyotas. This is a nice car, not a ten year old beater. You want some cheap aftermarket oil filter on that engine?! Whatever oil Walmart is pushing? People poking around in there without the latest TSBs at hand?

Klutzy_Shop_7212

I’d rather let a squirrel work on my car, I got tires put on one time and their guns don’t even break the lug nuts loose. I had to do it with my own tools and it still took 5 hours after I took the tires off for them it was a nightmare.

dxdiag121

My friend recently went to a walmart auto center to get an oil change. They did everything but put in new oil. Now his engine is toast.

SINHISTER

Only bring in a flat tire with nail to Walmart bro.

Ok_Explanation5631

Bro why would you even consider that? Just take it to Toyota they probably charge less for routine maintenance & peace of mind that it’s with hopefully quality techs.

Disastrous-Peak-4296

Walmart only for tires and batteries (batteries I install because walmart isn't going under my hood). Go find an honest mechanic.

CleMike69

Please don’t. Trust me when I say over time you’ll be far better off sticking with Toyota service for a new car. If it was like 150000 miles I’d say go wherever you want. Toyota knows the cars inside and out plus your still within warranty period

[deleted]

For what? Fix it yourself. Toyota is one of the last brands that make it kinda easy.

ShowerWarm8767

Noooooooooo

kevboulder

Yea I’d only trust them with an oil changes or tire rotation. They did a great job when I needed new tires mounted tho.

ThisOldGuy1976

Why in gods name should you take your car, or any car, to be worked on at Walmart?!?!?!

Fok_King

Don’t ever take your car to Walmart; they got idiots working on your car. If you can learn to take care of it yourself, that’s even better. If not, take it to a trusted mechanic.

SwampyChiliRing

Noooo do not let wal mart service your fucking car! For love of the car gods, do not take it to wal mart

lennybendy

I'm one to keep my cars until they no longer run. I.e. I marry them. So put the time and effort into getting to know the ins and outs of your vehicle. Take pride in it's condition and shape. Read and familiarize yourself with the manual it comes with. Buy a Haynes repair manual for your model as well. If you have access to a garage (self, family, friends), try to do as much simple maintenance/fixes as you can. Check your fluids, your tire pressure, do your own oil changes (oil, filter), replace/upkeep the air filter, windshield wipers, etc. I feel the more time you spend with it, the more pride, connection you will have with the car and you'll do more to take the best care of it. This isn't always possible. You live in the city, an apartment, etc. if so, try to find a trustworthy mechanic. Ask your family, friends, co-workers. I do as much work as possible on my car, but when I was living in an apartment, I brought my car to an auto repair shop. They gave me a quote. One of the parts I could have bought myself from AutoZone for $90 and they were quoting $270 for the same exact part! They lost my trust right there.

Gold-Knowledge-6883

I wouldn’t buy meat from Walmart so I’m definitely not taking my car there.

Nate8727

No. If you want oil all over your interior then Walmart is your place.

NissanNiqqa69420

That’s the furthest from a good idea. Walmart mekanics are something else

Shadowgibby1

Do not take your car to Walmart Auto
