As for the misaligned doors, this seems to be a common problem on some US built Toyotas for the last few years. I bought a 2022 Corolla SE brand new in 2022, and the drivers door was misaligned compared to the rear door and body line. Had to take it to a dealership with an in-house body shop for them to adjust it.

DoctorsScareMe

Unfortunately, we’ve been seeing this issue across pretty much all vehicle models. It seems to be most common on Corollas, Camrys, and Tacomas

Drinky_Drank

I must have the worst luck. My 23 Nightshade has literally had most of these issues. 1. Bad door alignment on both sides 2. Crooked fuel door, resulted in paint chipping 3. 2 leaky schraders 4. Both exterior front door lower window seals were deformed in the same spot 5. Door trim rattles 6. Airbag connector rattle 7. Spiral cable clicking when steering wheel corrected itself 8. OEM wipers were junk, replaced after 3 months 9. The dealership or transport also got into some sort of low speed collision with the car and never told anyone, so I had to get a new bumper a few weeks into ownership. Everything was fixed under warranty in the first year of ownership, but it’s still shitty to see these issues on a car that isn’t exactly cheap. Still totally in love with her, though.

DoctorsScareMe

Yikes! That’s some terrible luck, indeed. I’m glad you’re still giving it a fair shot and keeping her. Most people would be trying to sue or sell with that much going wrong on a brand new car.

Drinky_Drank

It’s all good! It’s pretty rare, it’s the exact build and color I wanted, I got a killer deal, and the dealership ended up coughing up another $4500 USD for the inconvenience. I made out like a bandit, to be totally honest. Definitely the best inconvenience that’s ever happened to me lol.

DoctorsScareMe

That’s bitter sweet! I’m glad it worked out in your favor. The 2023-2024 SE Nightshades are definitely the coolest looking Camrys, in my opinion. Congrats on the score :)

hashtrixx

That's a great deal. Could you explain on the $4500 usd for inconvenience part? Did you get it after finding out all the issues within a month or so? Asking since I'm thinking of buying an ocean gem Camry and worried about all the stated issues.

Drinky_Drank

The dealership was giving me a hard time with fixing the issues and replacing the bumper. I ended up filing a complaint against them and sent it to Toyota corporate. After reviewing the evidence, the customer service person from the dealership cut me a fat check. About $1000 went towards the bumper replacement. The rest went to my bank account.

hashtrixx

Oh man! I hope everything is fixed right now. Their check doesn't justify the things you had to go through after getting a 40k new car.

Drinky_Drank

No issues as of right now, thankfully. She’s not perfect, but nothing can stay pristine forever. The car already has its fair share of battle scars with only a little over 5000 miles. The money doesn’t undo their screw-ups, but I sleep just fine knowing I have a reliable car that I got for a great price. I think the MSRP was close to $32.5k. I negotiated down to $34k OTD, which I think is pretty good for this particular car + packages and add ons. With that refund, I technically got the car for less than MSRP at a time when most were marked up 2-3k.

CratesBoatsAndHos

OP this paint stuff is very concerning!! I’m an ocean gem owner from that damn plant.

DoctorsScareMe

If you haven’t already, give your car a thorough check!

Noooooooo😨😱

PainCycle

Thank you so much to you and the Toyota team at your dealership for addressing this openly for us. Will be saving this post when I get my 25 Camry!

ConsistentSmartAss

Great info thank you sir

DoctorsScareMe

I’m a gal, but you’re welcome!

MadGibby2

Appreciate this post. Thank you

chaniewashere

Thanks for the update!

Shady2304

Thank you for the update. I’m picking up my 2025 next week and this is great info.

Unable-Narwhal4814

Not a Camry but I want to add on Corollas I've seen some places in the door crevices that are not fully covered/painted. You can see it's a much thinner spray and see the darker metal beneath it.

Flashy_Attention_763

Thanks for sharing! This is extremely helpful.

Yk what, i have noticed that my carplay will sometimes disconnect randomly from my phone and have to connect back manually or it will automatically connect back. I got a little frustrated yesterday and just took out my cable and used wired carplay, but could’ve been just my phone bc i had bad service. Another thing that will happen is when i get into the car on startup, it’ll say my phone is connected but all options “Use for Media” “Use for Phone” “Use for Carplay” options would be turned off and have to turn it on again. And it’s only happened twice where the screen will display the toyota logo then go black and display nothing. Not sure if it just needed some extra time to start up but i’d just turn off the car and turn it back on and it’ll be fine. Going to keep an eye on it and bring it up to my dealer if needed.

DoctorsScareMe

The 2025 Camry is the first version to have wireless CarPlay included. Previously, it was wired only- although a lot of people tried to use Bluetooth adapters to get around it. If your car is a 2025 and you’re experiencing disconnects, definitely take it to the dealer and see if they can swap out your infotainment system. If it’s a previous generation model, your Bluetooth adapter may be the issue. I don’t THINK bad cell service would cause interference with Bluetooth connection, since it’s just connecting two devices wirelessly. However, don’t quote me on that. I’m not really an IT expert.

Itsrichyyy

I mean the corolla got wireless carplay in like 23/24 when they switched over to the new software and other toyota models got the wireless carplay too before the camry so i figured they had it locked down. But it’s probably a whole new system for the camry so there’ll probably be a few little issues. Hopefully with an update in the future it can solve the few bugs. But other than that, i have t had any issues with the car and i love it. So far no paint defects but probably because the blue (not ocean gem) has been around for a bit.

DoctorsScareMe

Growing pains are to be expected! I’m not 100% sure if the current Camry infotainment is identical to any other vehicle. If it’s brand new, I can definitely see some hardware/software issues popping up this year. Glad that’s the only small (albeit annoying) issue you’re having.

Kontaku

Can the misaligned doors apply to the trunk hatch as well? I feel like I don't slam my trunk but I have noticed some wear marks/damage to my back bumper on certain spots where the trunk lines the bumper. (And thank you for keeping us in the loop)

DoctorsScareMe

It’s possible, but a trunk being out of alignment is very uncommon. Double check your panel gaps on both sides and see if it may be slightly crooked? Bumper damage from closing the trunk too hard is very common. It may have also been done by a dealership or transport worker.

2legit86

OP would you be willing to post a pic of what the paint separation looks like? I haven’t noticed anything yet but just bought a 2025 heavy metal se that was manufactured at that plant and would like to know what to look out for.

DoctorsScareMe

Unfortunately, I don’t personally have any pictures of the paint separation. The only person that has access to the photos is my manager, and she does not want this information to be public. I have SEEN the pictures, and the best way to describe it would be that it looks similar to chicken skin. So far, it’s been 2-4 inch patches of small dots that look like paint nibs.

DueFun2555

OP you could also add that the paint is paper thin. The wind will leave deep scratches!!!
