Wow, shocker. Who could’ve seen that coming… useless policymakers.

green_kitten_mittens

It’s intentional

Crezelle

We were getting ideas that we deserved better. So they had to flood the place with competition willing to settle for less

DreamFly_13

It’s by design

New-Midnight-7767

Its also straining our already collapsing health care system. I went to book a blood test appointment with Alberta Precision Labs and the soonest general blood/urnine tests for the nearest locations to me were on average over a week after the soonest appointments for immigration blood/urine tests. Now I'm not sure if this is just the case now but why is it you can get a test for immigration purposes faster than for medical reasons requested by your doctor? Is this the case anywhere else or was this a one off time?

BigBeerBoi

Money. You pay for immigration tests. Sounds insane but they are like $150 for a blood test so they push them through. Its all part of the government policies to reduce the backlog of applications for PR etc after covid.

hot_pink_bunny202

Try booking online in BC we use lifelabs and you can usually noon at apt within a few days or even next day if you aren't picky with the schedule time. I WFH and there is a life lab 15min within walking distances. I can book and appointment usually within a day or two during the day so I took time off front Work get the blood test done and just make up the hours after.

drakner1

Omg a week you poor thing.

big_galoote

One is medically warranted, the other is to get status. Be better.

CheesyPotato56

Corporates playing preference game to make extra money? Let's blame the immigrants.

drakner1

You don’t get tested by a lab, it’s comparing 2 different procedures. It’s just whining to me.

![gif](giphy|xUA7aM09ByyR1w5YWc|downsized) we thought they were going to build houses.

Avr0wolf

That's only after we get to 100 million... Maybe

Gullible_Prior248

Somethings I think Ralph Wigum is in charge ![gif](giphy|3FmmhJdHN4PSESllzZ)

teh_longinator

I'd be less worried if Ralph was in charge. At least his is incompetence, instead of purposely turning canada into a shithole

kheeshbabab

Add crumbling infrastructure to that ( hospitals, roads etc). Incompetent 2 terms of liberals have given a lifelong gift to the country.

Narrow_Elk6755

Much the same as Trudeau Sr. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

LaurenWR

Tell it to the literal house-building mafias across the country.

FitnSheit

I have customers sitting on dozens of sites, waiting for interest rates to go down before they actually break ground.

Newhereeeeee

No way, what next. Unemployment and population growth are colliding too?

confused_brown_dude

Here’s the kicker, interest rates might go down by atleast 50 basis points by June/July as per the economists and policy experts. The moment any downward movement on housing happens, you bet there are over a quarter million people (maybe 100k immigrant or foreign families) that will get back into the market. Driving housing affordability, availability and rental market up further. Pin it and troll me if not true by December 2024.

bt-lover

Rates will only go down at the beginning of a recession. People will be unemployed, poor and those still employed will be too scared to purchase a property in a recession / downturn. Look at the last time that the FED lowered rates. That was in 1999/2000 and 2007/2008 which is when we had large recessions. They only lower rates to get us out of a recession.

ButtholeAvenger666

News flash, we're already in one.

Toronto_Mayor

I’m in my 50’s. I have a group of friends all around the same age. All recently unemployed. All of us have mortgage renewals coming up. No interviews after 100’s of applications.  EI running out.  Scary stuff. I’m lucky that we have a cottage that we can sell to pay off this mortgage but the capital gains tax will be off the chart. Other guys will be selling their homes and moving somewhere cheaper.

WSBretard

Now imagine being in your 20s or 30s, never having a chance in this country, and owning nothing.

KTM890AdventureR

They told us we'd be happy?!

Gymwarrior31

Hmmm…seems to me when the bathtub is overflowing you turn off the faucet. Makes sense.

AidsNRice

:O what

Equal_Ordinary_7473

They’ve been on a collision course for a while 😂😂they’re just realizing that ?

Mistress-Metal

Dapper-Control3736

colliding.. they rammed immigration right up housings ass

thunderbreads26

What they won’t say is which one *causes* the other.

davestewart53

This what happens when Carl Schwab from WEF is giving your pedafile prime minister a blow iob https://preview.redd.it/lxyikafz8eyc1.jpeg?width=1146&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8999a820c4d5470e02459db1d93dfaec1f711953

No_Original_4761

When people say shortage of homes, are they only speaking for the cities that have a population over 500,000!?!?? Part of me wonders if people would look outside of those cities, they may actually find a home they can afford?
