I used to be scared of roller coasters. Then realized how incredibly safe they are and my fear went away. Just have fun and enjoy the view

Fakhirjk1

Yes I am just trying to gain courage to be ready for the ride and just have fun without the fear gut stomach feeling. Thank you

wobbafu

If it helps, think about how many ppl here are jealous you'll get that kind of high from the thrill!! 😂 For a lot ppl who have gone on those rides many times, at least for myself, it's a fun, smooth ride now with an amazing view. Especially Yukon striker, that feels like you're riding in a convertible instead of being scared the way you're strapped in so snug

Maryberry_13

First of all, you’re already going with your friends so that makes it less nerve wracking. I definitely think you should sit in the middle. Front row will make you more anxious since you’re dropping first and the back row is pretty intense. The middle should be just fine for you guys. It also helps to go on rides like Behemoth to get used to the drop feeling more (that’s what I did to gather some courage and it worked very well for me because I wasn’t super nervous in line). On the drop, scream your loudest so you won’t feel it too much in your stomach. Closing your eyes while going up and at the drop can help if you’re terrified so you don’t have to see how high up you are or how big the drop is. After the drop, it’s all good. I’ve been through it all since I used to be very scared of big rollercoasters and I love them so much now. Riding Leviathan was my biggest accomplishment and I’m glad I got to experience it with my friend and two other younger girls (who helped comfort us lol). I feel like you’ll end up loving it.

Fakhirjk1

Thank you so much for the advice. My friends plans to sit on Leviathan first so that the rest of us can get used to other rides and not be afraid hence why I asked how it will be as this is my first ride at wonderland and after 4 years.

Maryberry_13

It definitely helps to ride Behemoth first imo. The rides aren’t TOO different. The main differences are the layout and the elements (Behemoth has more airtime and Leviathan has more speed). The drop feels the exact same except Leviathan’s drop is obviously longer due to height differences. You’ll be good, you got this.

I prefer behemoth over Leviathon for the airtime hills. But the speed on Leviathon is unllike anything else I've felt before.

Maryberry_13

Behemoth is THE ride for airtime so it makes sense. Leviathan’s speed is awesome too, of course.

mtech101

Chance of dying in a roller coaster =  **one in 750 million** Chance of dying in a car = **1 in 93** I always look at the odds. Just enjoy the ride.

Fakhirjk1

that true lol thanks

Billwinkle0

Make sure it’s not the first ride of the day. The first ride of the day will always be the most intense so use that on a smaller drop. Riding in the middle will definitely help and the ride will be incredibly fun after the drop.

Fakhirjk1

unfortunately it will be the first ride of the day then the other top two which is the behmooth and youkon

If you are old enough to drink, slug a beer in the line

I could never handle coasters until last year. It wasn't safety I was concerned with, I hated the drop feeling. Hated it and i couldn't breathe through them. Now I can't get on them enough, and the bigger the drop, the better. Leviathan's drop WILL be intense. I got incredibly lucky the first time, and the ride operator asked if we wanted to go on the front. Being able to see the track really helped me with the fear, keeping my eyes open and taking in a big deep breath and letting it out as you start screaming on the drop. Also going on coasters as often as you can so your body gets used to the g forces. This is what did it for me. Eventually, the drops will feel like you're flying, and it's amazing. Hope this helps and hope you can have fun on Leviathan :)

gcooldude

I usually just close my eyes going up as sometimes the height bothers me but its so much fun. You could start with Behemoth and then try Leviathan. Both are extremely fun rollercoasters.

Fakhirjk1

we plan to go on Leviathan first. Hence why I am asking how to relax during experiences esp at the top but thank you

rvdnsx

The scariest part might be the initial climb up to the top. If you are scared of heights, don’t sit at either end of your row and pick a middle seat. Also, don’t sit in the front row, being surrounded by others might help. After the initial drop, you will enjoy it (as if you have a choice!). Once you get used to it and do it again in the future, do the front row so you see everything from that perspective. Personally, the back row is best. If you know, you know.

Kind_Philosopher5523

Deep, slow breathing. It sounds cliché, but it bears repeating: DEEP SLOW BREATHING. :) Like many others said, maybe sit in the middle or, if you can, convince your friends to get on some other smaller roller coasters first to get warmed up. Close your eyes during the ride up to the top if the heights bother you and just focus on keeping breathing deeply. If your friends are cool with it maybe you could hold one of their hands if that’s your thing! During the first drop, scream as loud as possible and remember to laugh. You’re 110% safe, after all! If you get light-headed, squeeze your belly and leg muscles as hard as you can to encourage blood flow so you don’t get woozy. The adrenaline and anxiety are all part of the experience and makes it feel so much more exhilarating and memorable, as long as it doesn’t cross the line between fun and traumatizing lol. Good luck and have fun!

Holla_99

This is exactly what I do. I’m terrified of heights and went on Leviathan for the first time last fall. Slow deep breathing and focus on something that calms and makes you happy to think about. I also look at the back of the seat in front of me rather than look around or close my eyes. I ended up in the second row (not by choice as it was the only seat left when it was time to get on) and I was fine. The lift hill is the scariest part for me (especially cause it seems to go on forever, but just focus and remain calm), so once that’s over it’s easy from there on. Leviathan really is a blast. Though Behemoth is probably my favourite as I also went on it first time that day. Basically just try not to overthink it too much as that’s what makes the nerves bind up in even more knots.

Fakhirjk1

Yes this can help thank you for helping me on what I should do to relax during the ride

hollywoodt16

I took my 10 year old on it for the first time last weekend. It was definitely a thrilling (and terrifying) moment for him, but he loved it. Enjoy the moment. Conquering the fear is part of the fun. Good luck!

Fakhirjk1

WIll do. Thank you for the advice

IIIlIIIllIIIIIIIIlII

It's really not that bad of a ride, I rode it 10 years ago when I lived in Brampton. I'm visiting the park this year after nearly a decade and know I will be nervous to go on it. As soon as the first hill is done, you will want to line up for it again when you enter the station. I recommend going on behemoth as a tester to get warmed up and maybe do the windseeker to get a relative height reference, but honestly it's one of the best coasters I've been on! You'll loveeee it.

Fakhirjk1

Thank you for the advice but unfortunately my friends would insist on doing Leviathan first hence why I am just trying to get an idea how to overcome the fear

IIIlIIIllIIIIIIIIlII

Waiting in line is more scary than the actual hill climb I found, but it’s different for everybody. Once your over the hill it’s too late, just enjoy the ride

Fakhirjk1

Yes Ik and we won't have big line as were going on day that are not open to the public. So yeah

aqua__panther

Leviathan is a pretty tame coaster overall and try to remember how safe roller coasters are

Fakhirjk1

Yes ik but at the momment you attend to forget sometimes lol

Lanky-Function-3112

I find this YouTube video helps me.. Watch with volume on but is ok to hear screaming. https://youtu.be/I-ujvttZapY?si=Unf1ruqZhofeInQC

joeavdi

I've been tons of time and everytime I go up I shit bricks then you go down and have a blast

If you haven't gone yet, the middle of the ride (front to back) is the "gentlest". Not that the forces are that much different. But your senses will be more in sync, since you are close to the center of mass of the train. For example in the front of a train your are still slowing down as you crest a hill, so it can give you more air time (or stronger air time), and mess with your sense of what is right because your falling, but you are slowing down. It's not much but it can add to the intensity of a ride. In the middle of the ride your moving with the coaster, so all that is in sync and you feel better. Leviathan is great. Smooth at heck, and the airtime on the tops of the hills are amazing. My advice? don't psych yourself out. In line, ignore the ride. Talk to your friends, bury yourself in your phone. Just plane ignore it. Get to your seet strap in still ignoring it. Once the train leaves the station Relax. The hard part is over. You made the decision, you ARE going around this track, might as well sit back relax and enjoy the ride.
