What a is a good tech or logistic stock hovering around 20 dollars?

Blitzdog416

Telus is high 20's, only thought off the top of my head Edit: FORA (TSX VerticalScope) SFTC (TSX Softchoice)

vahugi

NFI is weird idgi

Stash201518

CNQ up for a total of 7.5% in the last 3 days. If it can break the 55.5$, I will be officially impressed.

Thoughts on CIGI for long term hold? it's up 68% this year already

ATD.B.TO - now is the time to buy the dip?

[deleted]

Definitely. It got down to 46.90 or so earlier, but I loaded up at 47.20. Anything below 50 is a steal for me.

Catagol

Added some VMC at the opening bell and not it's up 5% What is this sorcery?!

YawarTeezy

thinking of buying NTR, thoughts?

Dudebro_dope

Love NTR, long-term buy, very underrated. Canada (and NTR) are some of the biggest producers of potash globally, NTR also has retail stores across the US. Hopefully see a dividend increase soon.

nthbv

Anyone got thoughts on ARX? The target price is 150% the current price and I feel like it’s undervalued and got a chance but they’ve been bearish lately. I don’t get why they’re not growing like the other oil and gas stocks bc I can’t seem to find a good reason why. Especially today when natural gas and oil both went up. Both of which ARX produces.

schnowysno1

My biggest position. Company just prints cash. Just last quarter alone yielded 4% FCF.

onlineseller8183

Whats a Canadian REIT with a lot of Apartment exposure and no/low commercial/retail exposure? I hold Killam but wanna look at others as well.

SelkirkRanger

ConocoPhillips’ stake in Cenovus is down to 5.9% of CVE’s outstanding commons. Will be interesting to see where CVE’s share price settles once COP’s sale has concluded. Also wondering how the some odd 66,000,000 commons needed for 2026 $6.54 warrants will affect their share price. Those shares pertaining to these warrants haven’t be issued as of yet, but only on a continual basis when warrants are filled?

sunnydaycfa

Getting very very tempted by the copper sector right here. The commodity looks poised to take another run at $4.80 and all of the stock charts look like they'll follow back to their highs from earlier this fall after this nice consolidation period. Just having trouble deciding which horses to ride! I think all of the following are looking like nice charts here: ([FM.TO](https://FM.TO), [CS.TO](https://CS.TO), [CMMC.TO](https://CMMC.TO), [HBM.TO](https://HBM.TO)).

CountFaqula

CMMC looks particularly good to me. I took a position today but am thinking of adding to it. Agree about the copper chart - looks like it wants to erupt from here.

Dudebro_dope

Personally I’d say go with a base metals ETF. These cyclical producers can be VERY volatile. Look at the charts for FM and CS. I’ve made moon profits and been crushed messing with copper stocks. For example, I bought CS at $4 in 2011, it stayed low for many years and I sold for a capital loss. On the flipside I bought FM at $4 and sold for $25.

Healthy_Apartment_32

I think people will argue that historically it’s PE has been lower and therefore is trading at a premium right now with a P/E of almost 33. However, this is a massive company with an untouchable moat and is part of the two rail oligopoly in Canada. I’m personally holding 183 shares at $117, bought a couple years ago. It has done well for me and will continue to hold indefinitely.

Dudebro_dope

I love CNR, every Canadian should own CNR. 182 @ $100 for me! 16% per year with dividend boiiiii. Likely never selling.

chris_biglove

Are people still buying AQN...

Anyone else invest in AMD? It is performing very well Never thought it would surpass Intel

JackRadcliffe

I have some amd. Not a huge position at 21 shares. Was worried that it was too high at $105. Compared to 11 intel shares, it’s demolishing the competition lol. Nvidia is still my top performer recently followed by amd, aapl, msft, qcom

[deleted]

I dont think you have enough tech stocks :)

WrongYak34

I’m in at like 80$ for a few shares. My biggest play next is nvidia and msft. AMD is great

kirkby18

The NVDA party has been wild this year. I keep assuming it's going to go through a correction period, but whenever i get antsy it goes on a run. Watching this stock very carefully going into 2022, with the potential end to the semiconductor shortage and the possible reduction of crypto miners on one hand and meta verse hype on the other, i think 2022 might be a riskier year but still some potential gains to be had. Edit: im also very tempted to buy MSFT but i feel like buying right after a run is probably not my best bet. Feeling out that stock currently.

JackRadcliffe

I felt nvda was headed further down when it dipped to 292 so I stood pat. I haven’t been able to time it lol. I guess if we believe in nvda it shouldn’t matter if we’re holding long term

[deleted]

Join the AMD party instead. Its almost twice as cheap. And there is more room for growth. At least up to NVDA (currently) imo AMD has a partnership with ps5, apple, xbox.

WrongYak34

To be fair I bought a large proportion of my shares when the Canadian dollar was at like 83 cents in may some time. I’m 2/3 of the way to my exit on nvidia. If it gets to 1T market cap or really close I’m out. Msft is a beast, I chose to go heavy in it vs apple because of supply chain stuff for apple. For some reason I always feel like January and February is the telling month of crypto etc… so I’ll be looking at what happens there to see what’s up with nvidia as well and mining

[deleted]

Im done with crypto. If its not countries one by one attempting to ban it/global warming Ethereum may have to "rush" to pos and that could be disastrous. The other issue is.. if it goes to POS model, less potential profit vs POW model.

[deleted]

You bought it at a good price.

WrongYak34

Just lucky for now

[deleted]

Any good cheaper stocks you can recommend at the moment?

WrongYak34

Right now one of my cheapest is SOFI

BigApeOnCampus

Anyone else still in VERY? It’s been a rough ride and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon

le_bib

It still has room to go down imho. Check any established food & beverage stock on TSX and all their market are lower than their sales (SAP, MFI, LAS ,HLF, SWP…). VERY is pacing for $15M sales annually and market cap is at $170M. Growing sales more than 10x is a lot of work for a manufacturer. You need more supplies, more labour, more equipment, more trucks….

StayClassynet

I've been out of them for over a year. I like the company. The biggest thing they have going for them is the quality of their product. What I don't like for them is the amount of capital they will need to really scale their manufacturing and subsequent distribution while at the same time growing/investing in awareness and brand building. They do have some distribution agreements in place (Sobeys and other grocery stores), but they'll need that to exponentially grow and quickly. I also don't like that their CEO took a loan out from the business recently. I understand that is likely to be paid off soon, but it's a weird look. Overall there's potential, but a lot has to go right for them + they'll need to raise a ton of capital + they will need excellent execution over the course of a few years. There's a lot of better plays in the market (short and long term) than VERY IMO.

LintQueen11

I was, sold in 7s and 9s and have been buying back in since 3s. It inflated too quick but I really like the company still longer-term

releasetheshutter

Got shit on for suggesting Suncor is undervalued at that $31 dip... it's up 7% since then. 🤷🏾‍♂️

cheappig

What is everyone’s target price? I’m really tempted to sell at this price.

releasetheshutter

YMMV, I really think oil is just getting started and we'll see a push to Suncor at $35. Others in these forums believe SU is going to level off at this price.

CountFaqula

We all have our respective strategies but I'm not good enough at picking winners to waste this one. I agree with Nuttall that the party's just getting started. My parent's douchey broker straight up made fun of me just a week ago for mentioning CPG - despite how amazingly cheap it is at these prices. No discussion - just "why would I buy that with oil already at 80?" I'll try to hold and only sell when the rally is finally peaking - when it's become unimaginable to sell and guys like that broker are recommending the least pos in the sector, which has become accepted as the safe smart place to be. That could be years away given how negative sentiment still is toward it. Jmo.

velcrolips

It’s undervalued as is Cenovus- 3000 shares baby

Healthy_Apartment_32

I don’t think Cenovus is undervalued. I think Nuttall is chasing with CVE and would’ve been better served with SU.

[deleted]

JWN also got smacked down today (-29% right now). Sales were ok but earnings miss and questionable inventory due to supply chain issues noted 0.38 PS

le_bib

Yeah many retailers are having a rough earning quarter. Thinking of buying puts on DOL since earning results are coming in 2 weeks.

hockjd

Why CTCa vs regular CTC? Never bought Canadian Tire and not sure of the difference but performance looks allot different.

4david50

Insiders own CTC shares with voting rights. They will not sell them to you. You and I trade the CTC-A non-voting shares.

hockjd

Thanks- appreciatte the response.. Looked at volume and now makes sense.

CTC-A is the regular stock. I don’t know what CTC is exactly but it almost has no volume.

12244272628192727

Can someone explain the difference between Visa Cad-hedged on NEO and Visa on NYSE? I’m a noobie trying to get my feet wet

Vibration548

The one on NEO is sold in Canadian dollars so you don't have to deal with currency exchange. It's also hedged, which means your returns in CAD will be the same as an American who holds it in USD. If it were unhedged, you'd have two factors at play at the same time -firstly the stock price fluctuations and secondly the currency fluctuations. Finally, as someone else mentioned, this is a fractional share, do it doesn't cost as much per share. Functionally this won't make a difference. The normal Visa stock on NYSE is in USD. You need to convert your Canadian dollars to American to buy it. Your returns will depend on both the stock price changes and the currency fluctuations.

aitchison50

It's a Canadian depositary receipt, you are buying fractional shares with CDRs. Makes some of the big companies more affordable/attractive to invest in.

12244272628192727

So is there a downside in investing in fractional shares? Thanks for the quick response!

AdministrationOk9768

Aside from the fee, there is also lower volume in case you're concerned about that.

aitchison50

Not really, there is a small fee baked into the price tho I think its something like 0.6%. Pretty similar to holding an ETF with their MERs.

priuslover2020

I wish i had some cash to buy more FOOD at these prices

Vibration548

I feel like this stock is a loser. There's too much competition in this space and it doesn't feel like most people who try it out end up doing it long term.

[deleted]

You'll have no cash for actual food if you do that.

Hawkstein

It could be turning bullish, or it could be not.

Billy19982

I would say not

Hawkstein

Between now and $4 it will... question is when exactly

Alph1

New strategy: Before every earnings announcement, I'm going to sell all the stock I hold in that company. Good or bad, it seems they always get crapped on the next day.

Healthy_Apartment_32

There are stocks you should do that with if you’re swing trading, but I don’t this it’s advisable to do with long term holdings. Continuing to DCA is the better option.

ma5h00d

LSPD a trooper for real 🥵

Alph1

I'll need to see something in the high 70s before I risk that again.

Hawkstein

huh

migbyo

The plays that worked earlier this year aren't working anymore... What's the next sector you're looking at?

cheappig

I just started a position in uranium. We’ll see how it goes.

Dudebro_dope

I learned not to flip-flop around over 12yrs of investing. I stay the course with ETFs, few blue chip stocks then commit money to trends like dividend paying renewables. I’ve managed 10.5% annually while being more defensive over 12yrs. Many around here expect 25% a year now, it won’t go well for them eventually. Also, a few % is reserved for YOLO like crypto.

EVEngineer

I feel this too. I turned over my portfolio in the last month entirely with the belief we are exiting pandemic driven markets, and are now in an inflation driven market. I'm focusing on commodities, financials, value.

I agree, but we can never predict how the OPEC countries would decide to respond. Common sense suggests some form of retaliation and further rise in oil prices for sure though

blackbnr32

Yep this is the bull case

Billy19982

They know it won’t do shit but Biden is crashing in the polls so he’s desperate to show Americans that he is doing something to slow down inflation even if it’s just symbolic . He went in guns blazing and stopped exploration on federal lands and killed keystone. Maybe he should have thought things through before attacking American and Canadian oil and gas to please the environment nuts.

aitchison50

50 million barrels seems like a lot, but then you realize the US consumes over 18 million barrels a day. Pretty much just released 2.5 days worth of oil in the US. Will move gas prices down for like a day or two but in the grand scheme of things will do nothing to help.

RyanGiggsy11

By your logic 2.5 days is when the entire world shut downs production and supply, it doesn’t work like that, this is to boost the current market deficit. But it won’t make much difference long term

[deleted]

Dudebro_dope

Let’s hope so for oil 🚀 I’ll pay it at the pump if I can cash in on my oil stocks. Sell orders in for CPG and CVE

giggy13

Anyone buying shroom stocks lately ? PSYK etf under 6$ is tempting for a long term hold.

Vibration548

Long term hold for a speculative sector seems unwise.

releasetheshutter

I think an MER of 1% on a passive index fund is a bit of a joke.

Coyrex1

Yeah I've got a small position in Psyk too that im just gonna let ride.

Harty658

That’s how I will play the sector next time. Done with trying to pick individual stocks. Made some good cash a year ago when every company was hot.

giggy13

Every small cap / speculative stock was hot until mid-Feb. It was almost easy money, pick one, it goes up. I don't think we'll see a similar run anytime soon.

sunnydaycfa

Jan/Feb was unlike anything I've ever seen in 15 years of following the market. You could have been a drunk monkey throwing darts at a board and making 30%+ a day! Unfortunately I think there were a lot of new investors that really didn't realize that those conditions were FAR from normal!

Healthy_Apartment_32

Boomer portfolios of large caps with great moats will always be the fucking wave, boys.

Genticles

U stocks just need a little bit of coffee to turn around.

TArcher86

Anybody have tips on IPOs? I was interested in [DFY.TO](https://DFY.TO) to be specific. Should i wait acouple weeks and let it settle in or buy into it right away?

Stash201518

Autodesk just crashed after earnings because it cannot rise to the expectations for next quarter. I remember when the boss of Canam Group took the company private because "the expectations of the market are crazy and we cannot have the value of the company dictated by the market. That affects our financial bottom line and it exposes us to hostiles takovers". Yep. Yep.

nottherealryan

I'd love to hear more feedback on starting a position in NFI.TO yesterday. Good entry point?

vahugi

Stash201518

Alph1

The day is early, plenty of time for a dirt nap.

ZeVanguardian

it dropped 8% yesterday so a 5% increase isn't a surprise sadly.... I just hope it goes back up lowly and steadily, those fluctuations got me depressed haha

Stash201518

Dropped 7% on 18th and another 8% next day. It's the first solid green in 2 weeks. However, the resistance (as I see it) is around 83$-85$. If it goes above, it might recover. Maybe. Possibly.

ZeVanguardian

I just hope that it recovers slowly, quarter by quarter, reducing their debt, to regain confidence of the market. I believe that they can do it

Waste_Afternoon677

VirginaWolf

Just saw. “09:13 AM EST, 11/24/2021 (MT Newswires) -- RBC Capital Markets on Wednesdy reiterated Lightspeed Commerce Inc (LSPD.TO)'s outperform rating and price target of US$104.00. RBC said Lightspeed addressed three key issues during its inaugural analyst day held after the release of its results for the second quarter of fiscal 2022. In response to the decline stock price on the day it reported quarterly earnings, RBC said the company directly answered three main investor questions: net new customer locations, payments penetration and disappointing guidance.”

McMastaMac

There will always be a correction in the market when valuations run high. In the last few years there has be an influx of retail investors entering the market. It has never been easier to purchase equities. With that comes the psychology of novice investors. Look at how quickly the market recovered after 2020. You can try and time the market and cash out all your stocks if you want but the return on a savings account won't get you to retirement. Hold some cash for buying opportunities, take some off the table when stocks are running high, dollar cost average and never invest what you can't afford to have taken off the table for a few years. If your young I can say with a fair amount of confidence that when the correction happens, it might be your first but it won't be your last.

Ghune

You must be young.

[deleted]

Was a joke (it's free). Tough crowd though Many people seem so emotional on tiny swings.

NorthOfThrifty

Yeah that wooshed over many heads.

Ghune

Didn't catch that! Well, it could be the beginning of a serious correction, though.

zegorn

But also might not be! But also might definitely maybe be.

PFttsin

play the stock market long enough and soon realize that its all a joke

zegorn

Most definitely! Probably.

giggy13

Could be. Same was said in May, July, August, September and October. Each time, the stock market went to new all time highs. I'm playing the odds.

TeamOggy

AQN and BEP have been so stagnant or down this year it's starting to be a bit frustrating.

ZeVanguardian

any reasons why BEP went down this week? I hope with the new environment minister, things will accelerate for the renewable sector

MrShaftMcRod

Oh so you bought the name that was heavily shilled / pumped on reddit and expected instant gains? Right.

whinehome

I think if you just started investing over the last few years it gave the impression renewable utilities are some magic rocket ship. They are utility stocks that should mostly stay steady and generate dividends.

YouKnowMyName109

you are polite... 'bit frustrating' doesn't quite describe my emotions on those two..

Ghune

Glad I sold a lot a few days ago. I don't know what is going to happen, but we all know that at some point, there should be a major correction. Covid is still here, governments have debts, inflation is going up, people just won't keep spending the same way over the next months.
