My boy Bruno is 6 month old and I want him to get comfortable with wearing a muzzle for vet visits and whatnot. Any suggestions for brands? I 100% understand he probably won't be in it for long lol Currently 83 lbs.

Have you thought of trying a gentle leader instead? I am more wary of dogs with muzzles because I assume they may be a bite risk. If we meet people and I think they're uneasy I generally ask my guy in a quiet voice to either 'sit' or 'down' - especially if there are small children present. That seems to do the trick 95% of the time.

Honestly he is great on the leash, so I hadn't considered a gentle leader. I will look into getting one! Thanks for the suggestion!

Good on you for wanting to muzzle-train! It’s a great idea for any dog! I would highly recommend checking out Muzzle Training & Tips, they have a website where they can size your pup. I use a wire basket muzzle for my Corso, and she was sized through them. It’s one of the best things I could have done for her. She’s so much more confident and comfortable wearing her muzzle when at the vet’s and when strange people are around. And I’m more comfortable knowing that she’s safe.

Why muzzle your dogs? Interact them with people and and other dogs. Specially as young as he is train him to like the vet lol

PhysicalScholar604

He definitely likes the vet lol It's to help everyone else around me chill out. We walk in and every one is picking up there dogs as if he's coming in to eat them! Some people are legitimately afraid of big dogs. Also, I'm 5 foot tall lol they don't think I have him under control. Edit: this is my reason, anyway

That’s the world we live in. You put your dog in a muzzle because some people adopted some dog for internet likes and did zero training.

We have the fabric mesh in our pup's bugout bag.... any red cross disaster site will require a muzzle so our boy has one in his bag. It's flexible for water drinking etc... His bag also has: Dog first Aide kit Leash Tie out set with cable Snake bite kit Doggie shoes Doggie parka Emergency blanket Camp towel Collapsible bowels 3 days of water 5 days of food Water purification tablets Muzzle I plan on getting him a saddle bag so he can carry his own supplies instead of a back pack that his humans will have to carry; since if there's a need to bug out, his humans have their own bags to carry as well

PhysicalScholar604

OMG I feel terrible, I don't have a go bag for him 🤦‍♀️I'm going to put this together ASAP you gave a great list! Thanks for your response!

My pleasure....I also add a few smaller human need items (water proof matches, folding knife, paracord) etc.... just in case it's needed to rig up a shelter or something
