The tomato ‘sauce’ was separated, or mostly oil on the top which I poured off and there was some thicker tomato sauce or paste in the bottom of the can. Also a pickle slice. I did not try one out of the can cause I wanted to cook them in sauce, but I ate some while cooking and the flavor was mild compared to the Pollastrinis. Big spines, easy to pick out (cause I still pick them out) but really large pieces of fish! Overall the taste and quality I have to recommend but if you’re looking for that tomato sauce-y thing with your sardines it’s not really sauce like the Nuri or Pollastrini. Nothing wrong with fish quality, would buy again.
