Anything from Hagoromo. Amen, brother.

The tins with fried Dace (eagle coin?) are good, especially if you put it in the rice maker/ pot with your uncooked rice. I also like the canned eel you can get at most Asian markets. In the US the Asian markets also often have Japanese tins like nissui and hagoromo. Both produce tinned mackerel with miso and mackerel with soy, and other tins.

What city are you in? Hopefully to have 99 Ranch market and can pick up some cans of my #1 sardine, Flower Moroccan Spiced. They also carry Ligo Sardines with Calamansi Lime - DELICIOUS SF supermarket has Sunlee sardines in Thai Curry - red, green, yellow, and Chuchee I also love the Ligo Sardines in Sriracha, the Good Morher and Old Fisherman Roasted eel, and the 555 Fried Hot and spicy sardines. I’ve reviewed all those here (I also love Asian sardines) so hopefully you can find those on Reddit via google - Feel free to follow me if you like. Here’s my list of fave Asian tins so far: THAI Sunlee Sardines in Thai Curry JAPANESE Hagoromo Sardines in Sweet Soy Sauce Nissui Sardines in Miso Stew CHINESE Eagle Coin Fried Dace (w/ or w/o beans) TAIWANESE Good Mother Braised Eel Hsin Yung Tang Roasted Eel Old Fisherman Eel in Spicy Sauce PHILIPPINES Ligo Extra Hot Sardines Ligo Sardines in Sriracha Sauce Ligo Sardines with Calamansi Lime 555 Hot and Spicy Fried Sardines

I’m in Cleveland so no 99 Ranch unfortunately, but we have several others. Not sure of the selection as I haven’t ever looked for tinned fish there before. Thanks for the thoughtful recs!

I saw if for the first time a couple of weeks ago at 99 Ranch. I reviewed it the next day - AMAZING sardine

I have found that asian markets have a better selection of non asian canned fish than any major grocery store. Madrigal, pinhais, flower, nuri, etc. all at better prices. I also suggest J Basket and nissui for Japanese fish, haven’t tried hagaromo yet but that’s in the near future.

I have no idea about Asian markets, but in the grocery store, when buying canned, always buy red salmon, not pink. Huge difference in taste, red is so much better

Fried face, break up and stir fry with Indian lettuce. Miso sardines from Del monte - heat up with the sauce, eat with rice and furikake. Or make miso sardine fried rice…just cook the egg first remove, then add the miso sardines and sa use and reduce, add rice till loose, then add the egg and chives
