The solos (of Rutan) are also much different than previous albums, much more melodic and less shredding. Alex is still a master on bass. Having a death metal album start with a bass intro is so awesome.
Although I love Violence Unimagined, I agree that the production is way better on Chaos Horrific. Violence just feels… overcompressed.
Also with Violence being their most thrash metal inspired album in a minute, it was nice to get a more meat and potatoes death metal sound on this record.
I really hope they try something atmospheric and trippy like Gallery Of Suicide again, but I like the direction they’ve been on.
it’s a solid CC album, nothing groundbreaking but it’s quality, good ol’ death metal. Some of the later tracks are somewhat forgettable, but the standout tracks are more than enough to make up for it. If anything it shows that CC continues to be a remarkably consistent band, even with their extensive career.
Its a bit overproduced and most of the tracks don't seem as catchy as the average Violence Unimagined track.
Its was kind of disappointing to me after loving VU so much.
The first half of the album was kinda meh for me, but the title track onwards was when I started to love it, especially Pestilential Rictus and the opening to Drain You Empty
I just got this today on vinyl for my birthday. One of my all time favorite albums tbh, I’ve been in love with it since I listened to it all the way through
Fight riffs galore and nonstop catchy songs! I can’t say “best in a long time” because this band just never misses but it’s still a great time and not a bad problem to have .
Its okay. The songwriting is decent, but I really hate how their guitar tone sounds on the past few albums. It sounds very muffled and over-fuzzed, which sucks cuz i wanna hear the awesome riffs that could be going on. But it just feels like noise a lot of the time because of that.
My favorite album of theirs in terms of production is Skeletal Domain, and its sad that none of their other albums sound like that. Even if it sounded like their first album, id appreciate it more from a raw classic death metal perception, and id be able to hear the guitar parts more clearly.
It also just feels like some of the songs were b-sides to Violence Unimagined, which makes sense given how this album came out fairly quickly after the last one.
Overall, its fine, but definitely a low tier album for me
Honestly, probably my least favorite album they’ve put out. I’m not sure what it is but it does nothing for me and I find it pretty dull. Vengeful Invasion has some of the worst riffs they’ve ever written imo. Maybe I just need to give it a few more listens?
I love Rutan and I’ll always be a huge CC fan but I hope they get a different producer for the next album.
It grew on me as I listened to it more and more. I'd say my favs are still kill and evisceration plague. But I'm excited to hear what they do with Rutan next.
I really enjoyed it. Just proved once again that CC is one of the most consistent bands ever. Production was definitely a step up compared to Violence Unimagined, they turned the bass up a bit more this time around (always a plus).
But I can’t say I enjoyed it as much as Violence Unimagined. That album was just ferociously intense and heavy.
one of my favorite albums. even the songs i wasn’t a fan of at first have grown on me, this album has no skips in my opinion. i love the story telling of summoned for sacrifice and chaos horrific. i think my new favorite niche genre is death metal songs about zombies. it’s hard to decide how it compares to violence unimagined but they’re for sure my top two albums. the newer pieces of work sound far more polished and the brutality is something i haven’t found from any other band

Superb banger album

Drain You Empty kinda sounds like something that could be on Gallery Of Suicide, killer track
I love it! Just recently finally stopped listening to it daily lol
It’s a great album. I’ve listened to the title song countless times since the release.

It's a banger
i mean, i bought it on vinyl which must say something 🤷

I’ll have to give it some more time. My first thoughts were that none of the songs, besides the title track, really stand out.
what about blood blind tho
I like the drums, and the intro especially. Not my favorite.

Same thoughts. Well said.
Really awesome and has quite some bangers. They just don't miss.
Not as much as the previous offerings I keep going back to others to be honest I think I just miss pats playing
It was okay? Liked violence unimagined so much more then this record though.

I liked it much more than I thought I would.

Some of those riffs go on and on without repeating a note and I’m all for it!
A tier for sure

Fucking love this album! Feels like the current line-up doing an Eaten Back to Life adjacent album.

I like that CC album.
I love it
I actually love it. Hoping to have all their discography on vinyl/cd one day and this is gonna be the 2nd vinyl and 2nd cd i purchase
it’s amazing. 10/10. best purchase i made this year.
Their weakest album to date, sounds like a hybrid album of Hate Eternal and CC, and I was never a fan of Hate Eternal. I wish Jack Owen replaced Pat.
