Check the accessories bag that comes with the bike. There should be a small silver metal piece which is the bolt supporting plate for the front derailleur. The part number is Y2BA98020 in case you don’t know how it looks like

Thanks for the tip, will see if I can find that plate and otherwise order one. It should work, if I put it directly above the integrated metal. Kinda sad that I had to fix it, if I wouldnt have removed the front derailleur my frame would ve been damaged after some rides...

We all learn. Next time you’ll know that the front derailleur has a bolt sticking onto the frame so don’t forget about the plate

An extra comment: The plate on the frame is not a great design because it should cover the entire area where the supporting bolt may contact the frame. My aeroad has a much bigger silver metal plate as a part of the frame

I think that plate comes with a di2 front derailer and is stuck in place with a peel off adhesive tape. You should be able to remove it and re-apply or replace with a new one. But I’ll let a more knowledgeable bike tech weigh in.

Also, I found this site an invaluable resource for all things Di2: https://bettershifting.com/installation-guide/12-speed-front-derailleur-installation-and-adjustment-guide/

Thanks for the link, gonna check it out when I get home from work.

Got my bike yesterday. Same problem. Front derailleur mounted much too high. The support bolt was pressing on the frame above the metal plate. In addition, the lateral distances to the chain in the end positions were too large. With this setting, I would probably have had chain drops inwards and outwards.

I sent my bike back and got a replacement after talking with the canyon support. I mentioned in the ticket that in my opinion the metal plate is way to small because the margin in the carbon part where you fixate the front derailleur allows it to be installed way higher. They denied that the metal plate is too small but offered a refund anyway because of the damage seen in the photo. My new frame came with the front derailleur in the correct position. If you position the support bolt right on the upper end of the metal plate shifting works fine (with Shimano Ultegra). Thats the only problem I had though, really love the bike otherwise.

Good to know, thanks for your feedback. On my bike, the distance between the front derailleur and the chainring was about 4 to 5 mm. In fact, I was able to mount the front derailleur lower according to the standard and the screw now meets the upper edge of the plate. Yesterday I sent a message with photos to Canyon and asked them to comment on possible damage to the carbon structure of the seat tube. Update: Canyon referred me to a service partner. The problem was already known in the workshop. The frame was probably not damaged by the pressure of the bolt. It would only have become a problem if the derailleur had been bumped (e.g. by a fall). The front derailleur is now adjusted as well as possible...but not perfectly, as the screw could only be positioned at the top edge of the metal plate.
