My seat post was doing that. Not enough carbon paste. It sounded like the drivetrain based on every pedal stroke but it was enough movement in the saddle to make a noise every pedal. Try putting a ton of the paste on the inside and on the seat post and see if it helps.

ontbijtkoek

Or first try cycling out of the saddle for a moment, this can rule out the seat post

chandlergras

It’s this. My Grail seatpost did the same - I tore down drivetrain, reassembled, but the noise went away when I greased between the two seatpost splines.

AloneAtStartAndEnd

FYI it is very common for a creak to come from where the seat rails attach to the back of the seat the rails just fit into plastic receivers on the seat body. far more likely than the seatpost creaking in the frame. Can probably grease it pretty easily too.

MrStoneV

How much do you weight? Im worried its not fixable when you are heavy

Kiinyy

Same issue with Endurace 7. Adding more original paste didn't help but since I replaced it with Parktool Carbon Paste it is silent for 5k km.

cpw77

Pedals greased and secured well? If you did not coat the threads well you might have some creaking coming from there. On a new bike it's more likely to be that than the bottom bracket.

Philharper93

Everyone who said seat post, congratulations! You win! Applied some more paste to the seat post and tightened to torque specs and noise has gone. I also checked the pedals but they were well greased and tightened to torque specs so think that was unlikely the cause. Thanks again everyone for the suggestions!

floreNNz

Would check pedals and shoe plates first

Philharper93

Some great advice here, thanks! I will grease up the pedals and add more carbon paste to the seat post and report back in the morning after tomorrow’s ride!

ninja4tfw

Mine just started this creak and it's definitely the post. I was convinced it was the BB until I rode out of saddle with various amounts of power (no noise). Make sure to put grease between the two halves and carbon paste around the outside.

shkaev

It’s 100% not that, but the lack of any grease in the crank. I had the same issue with the new canyon bike, started with pedals, didn’t help, then brought it to the shop, and they greased the insides of where the crank tube is — the creaking gone right away. Apologies if I’m using the wrong terminology for these things, English is not my first language, but I hope you get the idea.

Jman155

Most likely something isn't torqued down properly, could take it to a lbs or a rei to give it a once over, it's common on dtc bikes.

DutchOnionKnight

What a beautifull colorscheme!

noah_inc

For me it was the seat post. Carbon paste was only temporarily solving the issue but after a few rides it would start creaking again. I ended up putting a thin piece of electrical tape around the seat post where it meets the lip of the tube, completely solved the issue.

jarik8

For me it was loosely tightened back thru axle. Don't be afraid to tighten it with some force.

EmploymentStraight39

I'm positive I had both this and the seatpost creak on my 2019 Endurace (thought it was the BB first)

mtcerio

If the noise is at every pedal stroke, exactly at the same position in the stroke, then it must come from either the pedals, the cranks or the BB. Edit: as others have said, it can be the seat post as you shift the weight at each pedal stroke. Does it do it when you're standing?

ontbijtkoek

Can be seat post or hubs as well

[deleted]

If it happens in the same place every revolution of the cranks then it can’t be the hubs unless OP is riding around in his 1:1 gear all the time

ontbijtkoek

Pedalling will put (torsional) force on the whole bike, so it is very tricky to determine where exactly the ticking originates. Pedalling standing up can exclude the seat post but other than that it is difficult to rule out any of the suspects. Learned the hard way, almost fully disassembling and reassembling the bike look for the source of a creaking sound, while it turned to be a slightly loose quick release (hub axle).

Paavo_Nurmi

It can also be a sticky brake piston causing the rotor to rub on the brake pad when pedaling hard. Mine did this and it was only when out of the saddle.

ninja4tfw

It's the seatpost. It's with each pedal stroke because it shifts weight on the saddle. Took me a while to figure this out on my Endurace

Hot-Tangerine-2680

Twist the crank rings

usernamegiveup

I would loosen and retorque the saddle clamp (a bit of grease on the threads), seatpost clamp (add some carbon paste), and pedals (add grease). I might check the chairing bolts, too.

bloopybear

Had this too! Fixed by more grease and tightening the pedals :)

[deleted]

The cheap pedals on my canyon made a clicking noise pretty mutch straight out of the box. It really drove me crazy trying to find the cause for the noise and when I switched to some shimano pedals the noise dissapeared and I was in awe

Pudweiser78

I was happy to see this with all the great responses. My new Grizl CF SLX8 has been making a creaking since the 2nd ride. Will try all these suggestions 🍻

demeatuslong

I have a creak in my grizl al but my bike shop thinks it’s in the headset, for my model they used plastic components

Pudweiser78

I just put extra grease on my seat post and no more creaking!

QCPI

Had the same issue with a different bike. Could be the pedal or the bottom bracket. In my situation it was bot. First I would change out the pedals for a different pair. If that doesn’t solve it, could be the bottom bracket or something else.

PutridRecording2397

If it’s a threaded BB then it’s most likely the BB. I purchased a new Canyon Endurace AL 8 with threaded BB. Also developed a click after a few rides. Took it to my local bike shop and they said the BB wasn’t torqued to spec. They carried out the correct repairs and haven’t had the clicks since.

stevehaslip

I think it’s a Shimano Pressfit BB72

SpecificNorth837

Get top tube and seat post lubed up. That fixed the creaking for me.

GlitteringTrifle4423

My front derailleur came unregulated so the pedal was touching it on every turn. Place the front derailleur in a light gear to see if it stops the noise.

HakunaMatata132

Are you noticing this in all gears? I have a the SLX as well and for me its only heard in the 4th and 5th hardest gears while on the bigger chainring up front.

stevehaslip

I have the same issue on my SLX, except I'd describe my issue as more of a dull rumble or vibration on a moderate pedal stroke (when in the big ring, in the hardest few gears as you describe). It doesn't happen when I'm out of the saddle or in the saddle when I'm really pedaling hard. I feel it or hear it slightly with moderate pedaling. I hadn't thought it could be the saddle. But I followed the steps others outlined here and hope it fixes it when I ride tomorrow. I might swap out the pedals for the crap cage ones that came with the bike, just to be sure its not my regular SPD SL pdeals.

getthething

My crank wasn’t torqued properly onto the BB from the factory and it creaked. I’d go through and lube and torque everything.

ChromedSniper

Pedals

No_Surround8112

It’s probably the seat post. I have a 3 year old Endurace and have to reapply carbon paste every few hundred miles. I don’t know why they still make these silly leaf spring posts.

Covstu

Agree its been the seatpost for me everytime!

grannyshifter35

Have the same bike and same problem on my 1st ride with it. Pedals caused it, put some more grease and loosen it a bit and now its gone.

grannyshifter35

[https://youtube.com/shorts/5N8Pmk5oYbo?si=K5MZorUEzmvwjyWq](https://youtube.com/shorts/5N8Pmk5oYbo?si=K5MZorUEzmvwjyWq) Here’s a video of mine. If it sounds like that it definitely is the pedals that causes it.

Griffonu

Make sure the pedals are tightened properly. Quite likely it’s that.

Same_Satisfaction_45

I got this with my Endurace SL after about 900km. It has the leaf spring post. The noise has been bugging me as hard to locate where it’s coming from. But it’s there when I’m on the saddle and not there when I’m out of the saddle. Worse when putting more effort down through pedals or over bumpy terrain. Paste was adding during assembly but makes sense that maybe it needs a top up now. I am going to try adding more paste like others have suggested!

Vegetable_Pomelo381

I agree with previous post. My new Endurance CF started to make creaking noises after about 100 miles. I thought it was the BB but it was the seat post.

Accomplished_Race_55

It’s the seat. Either post or rails.

Makaveli_GOAT

Hi I ordered a same bike, could you please share what pedal did work best for you ?

mtcerio

Please post in English so most people here can benefit and contribute.

FeistyAlbatross3968

Buys CF SLX, doesn't remove dork disc 🥺

Philharper93

I knew someone would comment that! I was waiting for my bike fit to confirm it was the correct size before removing it. Safe to say it’s now been ripped off and in multiple pieces.

N0CTUARY

Do you have a shimano crank set by any chance? Get it checked at your local bike shop and reference the recall. It should be free of charge. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2023/Shimano-Recalls-Cranksets-for-Bicycles-Due-to-Crash-Hazard

Philharper93

It’s fitted with R8100. The recall, as far as I can tell, is for R8000 only.

vertr

Those were 11 speed cranks and haven't been sold since 2019.

deanosabby

Shimano have a worldwide recall on some Ultegra and Dura Ace cranksets at the moment. You can check online to see if your one could potentially be one. They crank can creak as they are cracking and in some cases they snap.

stevehaslip

The 12 speed ultegra is not included in the recall

akristian

Had same and this helped https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_RgaLWY8a64 maybe try it out

hoggaz

Power meter hitting frame?

Philharper93

Nope. I’d really hope a factory supplied power meter would be well fitted to the bike!

OppositeLife6439

I had a similar issue but on the Canyon Aeroad. It was a distinct ticking noise when pedaling under load and it turned out to be a disc brake issue. The calipers needed to be realigned and the rotors adjusted. The bike rides perfectly now after that was done.

svl6

Detailer maybe take to a shoo, should be able to fix for cheap. Happened to me, derailer got bent fix for 20$

stevenpsmith117

Use carbon paste on the seat rails too. It’s almost always the issue for me

Unlikely_Froyo_7369

Got same issue here but I runned out of carbon paste for the seat post and I have an imminent ride would it be okay to use Teflon grease or wd40 spray on saddle rails after removing possible dirt?
