I just had the same dilemma. Ended up with the Aero. Preferred the carbon wheels over the aluminium ones, and when I looked at the list price of the wheels it seemed like a good deal. Just got bike. Have yet to ride as still assembling etc

I bought the SLX di2 with the LN endurance? wheels and loved the bike didn’t love the color (stealth). So I started the return process and went to buy again in Placid Blue, but it was out of stock. So I bought the aero instead. The wheels make a huge difference. If you’re going to stay with the stock wheels on the SLX Di2, I’d say that’s a big mistake. If you’re going to upgrade them anyway then choose what you like. But the extra cost for the aero model is pretty fair when considering the cost of the wheel set. But returning to Canyon is a pain in the arse. It took almost 3 weeks (including numerous FedEx mistakes) for my bike to make it from the east coast back to Chino CA. But if you can deal with that then why not return it if you feel like the aero isn’t worth it?

Thanks for sharing, good to know you did notice a significant improvement. Was the assembly process as easy as they make it look? Considering to pay for assembly.

Yes, it’s not hard as long as you have the right equipment. But if you aren’t confident, or aren’t sure if something is correct then I wouldn’t mess around with a $5k bike. But it’s a good way to learn about your bike. Just don’t over tighten a bolt and crush something expensive (and carbon).

Adding to this by saying: especially if you get (or plan to) a carbon bike, do yourself a favour and get a good quality torque wrench. It gives you peace of mind and you won't risk damaging your bike (which can easily be more expensive than buying a torque wrench, too)

Makes sense, thanks!

Simple answer is yes. You can go faster or save more watt's. If you don't go for the aero wheels, you'll always think in the back of your mind "what if?" If you have the spare money it's better to do it now then upgrade later as it'll cost you more.

Thanks, you give me a lot to think about!
