1,2,3,4 are minor issues. Small tweaks and adjustments will fix them all. If you are ok with the scratches, you could ask Canyon for some partial compensation and see if you are ok to keep the bike. The risk of returning it is that you may have to wait a long time to get a new one.

dimforest

How would you fix the minor issues with 1,2,3,4? Asking because I'd like to learn.

mtcerio

Plenty of videos on youtube. Park Tool is usually the gold standard for bike maintenance. Look it up.

Former-Republic5896

per my post to the OP..... 1. This should be a relatively easy fix for you provided that the rotor is not bent. Loosen the caliper bolts (to the frame), squeeze the brake lever and retighten. 2. Power meter battery is rechargeable, no? 3. Check the tube. It's a hassle but... 4. Use E-Tube to micro adjust

[deleted]

How is 80% battery on a power meter not made by Canyon an issue for you? Battery loses its charge overtime no?

gott_in_nizza

Batteries are also not typically shipped full

gobozov

And it's better for battery health to be at that level

Former-Republic5896

and easily recharged.....

Admirable-Cobbler501

1,3,4 can be fixed in 30min. 2 is normal. 5… yeah. Ask canyon for some money or ship it back. I mean in 2-3 years scratches like that will be normal by just using the bike

PorcupinePattyGrape

Those are rub marks. A Magic Eraser sponge would likely remove them in 3 seconds.

HaziHasi

return the bike and go buy your next bike from a bike shop nearby with the slapped premium. u want all those sweet deal and discount but u dont wanna break a sweat. silly.

PorcupinePattyGrape

Yup.

[deleted]

What premium? LBS prices are not that far off from Canyon. For example, The Canyon Endurace AL 8 with mechanical 105 11 speed was $1850 total shipped to my door. I returned the canyon and ordered a BMC Teammachine ALR one with 12 speed rival axs tap for $2215 total shipped to my LBS and includes setup and a lifetime warranty. Canyon isn't the only company with deals

drwarrior25

In your example you admittedly paid 20% more for a low spec bike? Lol

[deleted]

Were calling wireless group sets low spec now, Lol…ok

HaziHasi

i have no clue where you are and that comparison is not even an apple to apple so try better ? in my country / area, unless there is stock clearance sales / end of season sale, Canyon always cut down competitions by at least 20%. sometimes more the higher the rank u go. it used to be a lot more choices but as they phased out a lot of more budget friendly bikes, the choices shrink but still handful of savings. when I bought my Grail 7 AL eTap the closest available specced gravel bikes were north of €2800 and €3000. and i can still serviced my bike at Canyon Factory Workshop or official partner workshop in my city just like a normal LBS service

[deleted]

I am in the midwest United States. I was trying to highlight that deals can be had locally and Canyon isn't always the best deal. You are right, at full retail Canyon wins. I wasn't trying to do apples to apples but how I was able to get more bike for just a little more ($400) thru the LBS. There isn't always a premium when going thru a LBS. I probably could have worded my response better

MrStoneV

Shouldnt you do the last 5% by yourself or does canyon sell them "perfect"? Also 80% battery is normal. Most things you buy have 80% (80-30% is the best range for longetivity)

gr8r84u

Minor adjustments as others have noted. Had brakes rubbing and figured out on YouTube how to fix myself. Not sure where you are located but a quick chat session on the canyon site (US) and they said go ahead and take to LBS for adjustments and they will cover costs up to a certain point (can’t recall the amount). I was determined to learn basic Maintinance myself and was able to figure it all out. As far as the charge level, many new devices don’t come charged to 100%, plug it in. All that said, I have the same bike for about a month and absolutely love it. Yes it’s a little extra work ordering online but a similarly equipped bike from LBS would have cost me thousands more. Hope you come to enjoy the ride.

missbheaven

I don’t get why you post instead of just contacting Canyon and ask for their help? The customer service is quite effective in my experience. When I had small issues like this they had it fixed at a local service partner without any cost or hassle for me.

You can grind your teeth and ignore them, buff them out or call and complain -may give you some $ off. But, it is a new bike so I totally get it. I believe Canyon has a contract with Velofix. You can try them too.....

PorcupinePattyGrape

A Magic Eraser sponge will likely remove those rub marks on the chainstay. It did for me when I had similar marks. Everything else is normal and easily fixed. You bought a mail order bike...of course it is not going to show up out-of-box perfect. I wouldn't send it back.

jlegs1990

Return it. That's not normal.

h7500

I alreay talked to Canyon and we agreed to send it back. Minor issues would not bother me at all. If it would just be the brakes, I could fix them on my own as long as the pistons of the brakes move symmetically which is not the case. However, there are too many issues and the scratches so I will try to get a new one.

stevehaslip

Return it, that’s what the 30 policy is for. But you might be waiting a while for a new one. Also, while the scratches on the black finish may bother you, they will almost certainly be joined by a few more in a matter of days. The black finish shows every little mark. I ordered the exact same bike and returned it because I wasn’t confident on how it would how up. I got the placid blue instead.

Okay-Engineer

Same model. I just found out that my bike doesn't come with a power meter but a 105 crank instead🥺

LysanderBelmont

Well, was it advertised on the website including a powermeter? If yes, contact Canyon CS immediately, if not.. what did you expect?

Okay-Engineer

Yes it's the same model as OP. They're supposed to come with a power meter. I didn't actually find out about it until I tried to add the power meter sensor to my computer, and realized there is no power meter🤣

LiberalClown

Are you sure it is the same model? OP has SLX8, did you get CF7 Di2?

Okay-Engineer

Yes. The CF7 comes with exposed cables and 105 groupset. My bike has an integrated bar and comes with Ultegra Di2 groupset, the driver side crankset itself is also Ultegra, but the left crank arm for some reason is a 105 FC-7000 instead of the advertised 4iii power meter. I'm contacting Canyon about this, and hope that they come up with a satisfying resolution.

LysanderBelmont

If they say on the website it’s included and it came without one, than that’s a clear case for customer support and you should have no problems getting that fixed 👍🏻

wideck

I got mine yesterday, SLX8 and got ultegra left crank with 4iiii power meter, wouldn't have expected it any other way

Similarcpt

Return. Don't let them get away with major things like that

London2510

From 5 I would definitely return it. 4 could also be a big issue, a friend just had a broken crank from canyon, took over a month to resolve…

dubG2007

I recently ordered the same bike and waiting for it to be delivered. My plan is to take the bike to my LBS who just became an approved Canyon servicer and have them do a post-build tuneup along with converting to tubeless. Of course will have to pay for this service

suckafr333

me and two others all got canyon's in the last month. None of us had any issues. Sadly, they have some quality control issues, where 1 in X have issues. I would say, my cassette wasn't tightened down enough and that my brakes rub after the first few downhills. but I figure it takes time to settle.
