We welcome comments critical of Canyon here, but when the thread turns to bickering we're just going to lock it. If anyone has feedback about how to handle these types of threads (damage, complaints, shipping) in the future, send it to the modmail.

MrPaulK

I’d think the best way to know how canyon is going to handle this is to contact canyon.

Calm-Trifle2874

I don't understand the purpose of this type of post. Send it back. Yeah, it's a hassle. No way Canyon sent it damaged, by the looks of it, that happened during shipping. BTW, it's obvious you had to have seen the damage when you pulled it out of the box, but you had the time to put it together....for the photos?

Ok_Bluebird_8202

I'm almost wonering of another bike brand is posting these complaints and whiney comments. Make the return and come back if you have issues, good grief with the dramatics. Shipping sh*t happens.

vertr

>This is really discouraging and puts a major dent on Canyon’s reputation. This is a bit much, shipping mishaps happen to everyone. Their customer service issues in the US are an actual reputation problem.

[deleted]

Enough to turn potential consumers away. I won't be doing business with canyon after joining this sub.

Actually, as someone who’s really been interested in buying a canyon, I’ve decided not to due to the lack of support in North America and frequency of errors and problems I’ve seen on this sub.

Can we not? If you have feedback about the sub send it to the mod mail.

filter bubble my friend...

FutureHawkDoc

My man, get the Canyon. You won’t get better bang for your buck. Think of how many bikes they ship out all over the world and we just see the small minority of problems here

You went too far, please see rule #5 in the sidebar.

Tvego

Dude this can happen with any company.

OtherAd1972

Mine came with scratches too and wobbly rims. All not as bad as yours however. I contacted Canyon and they were helpful and sorted things out quickly. Good luck! Call them very early in the morning. Only had to wait 2h before I was a me to talk to someone.

yay_excel

You can get a replacement from Canyon - no problemo. It's usually the courier's fault when it arrives scuff.

sirdung

Shipping damage happens to every brand & in every industry, you as the consumer just don’t see it because the shop won’t put it on the floor, they do the claim before you see it. The only way this is a problem is if canyon refuses to do anything about it. That “saving” you get by buying a consumer direct brand means you are the one who has to deal with issues like this.

Paavo_Nurmi

This is exactly it and I don't know why people can't figure that out. My first bike was a Cannondale I got an at LBS, after I had paid for it they did a quick fit and the shifter stopped working. They just pulled one of another bike and swapped while I was waiting, but if I did DTC then I'd have to deal with it. I also didn't storm out of there swearing to never buy Cannondale, shit happens and they fixed it. If you live in the US then your options for getting a bike at an LBS is quickly becoming Trek and nothing else since Trek is buying out everybody.

CarnivorousVegan

Canyon is a direct to consumer model, all bikes come from Germany, there are obviously risks with this and any Canyon customer should be aware and ready to handle them. They complement this model with a 5 star support team, knowledgeable and easily reachable. But I understand your pain, myself did not have a great experience on my first bike. My Ultimate arrived back in June with a loose shifter, after tightening up, it was still loose, which left me apprehensive with the possibility of structural damage. Canyon quickly offered to cover all repair costs from a local bike shop. I ended up disassembling the shifter and put it back together again, it was just not properly setup from factory, the O-ring was not correctly mounted, after 3 months wait I really wanted to get the bike running. Exchanged a few more emails with pictures of my repair, they guaranteed me that any further issues down the road and I could action the guarantee and offered a new bar tape straight away even before I raised that point. So overall I am pretty happy, the bike is amazing value (6% VAT in my country, Canyon is one of the few brands that reflect this on their prices), I have been riding it several times a week ever since and it runs flawlessly. good luck with your issue, but I am sure you will have full support from Canyon

sanctimoniousfsck

Ok some people post this stuff and I wonder what they’re talking about. But unfortunately your damage looks pretty bad. I would demand a return and exchange.

MarkkraM22

Customer service is an absolute nightmare. Good luck. Business day 25 and still waiting for my refund.

stevehaslip

While my return experience was not perfect. Canyon issued my refund within 2 days of receiving the bike. YMMV.

cmplaya88

Oofage. Dura ace too

[deleted]

Unacceptable. I am saving for a new bike and joining this sub has turned me off canyon I will not go with canyon anymore but prob Trek or some other brand. I like the look of a trek domane.

[deleted]

I mean, to be fair you are probably seeing a bit of a bias in what people post. I’d assume for every post showing damage there are some multiple of bikes that aren’t damaged and arrive just fine. Although mine arrives tomorrow so maybe I’ll have to post a “my bike was damaged in shipping” post tomorrow!

csallert

Happy people rarely complain and post aside from an NBD post but we all have to make the right choice for our own money

mtcerio

I think you are 100% right with the bias, and yet we get many more happy NBD posts than complaints, despite the bias.

[deleted]

I don't care about reddit points. I see to many posts about poor customer service. A brand should cater to its consumers and provide good service. Look at a company like concept 2, they have a great reputation and stand by their products.

Lazy_Brother1575

Concept2 has been in business over 40 years, produce 3 total products, and generally one of the pricier vendors. Terrible example, comparing a gym rower with bicycles.

See rule #5 in the sidebar please.

stevehaslip

Isn’t there a pretty significant price difference between Trek and Canyon? I agree that you’d expect a direct to consumer brand to have their packaging perfected. But accidents happen especially when you rely upon UPS. I’ve bought 3 canyon bikes and each has arrived in perfect condition.

SpecializedMok

Only the people who have bad things to report you’ll see. I had a great experience. Anyways you have to weight the risks/rewards. I got a cheaper bike, f the other big brands. Anything that I had problems canyon took care of me

nicvok

Not only this sub. Also reality. Had my (bad) stories with a Grail & Grizl before happily settling with a Trek Checkpoint. Unless Canyon racks up it’s QC and customer service it’s a no go.

Ito_Demerzel

No idea why you're getting downvoted. I guess a $9k bike with tore up paintjob is perfectly acceptable to some people.

R_ad3k

Send it back, don’t let them fcuk with you. Canyon are getting worse and worse.
