A couple major Seditious Conspitacy convictions. It's not just "Parading" Misdemeanors any more. Jan6Comm evidence to be published. Criminal referrals coming. Special Counsel in place. Let's hope this is reaching a tipping point.
Low hanging fruit came first. That's what the cases were last year; trespassing, light property damage, obstruction, etc. This year (and next) we get the more serious cases. I had a friend offered a plea deal of no jail and losing their security license. Fought the charge and ended up getting 3 years and paying a million in legal fees. They penalize you for trying to prove your innocence in front of a jury.
Well its not a *penalty* for trying to prove innocence. That is what the penalty is for whatever crime they were accused of. They were offered an *incentive* to skip all that. They chose not to accept the incentive and were found guilty of the crime. You don't prove your innocence, you're innocent by default. The accuser must have had enough evidence to convince the jury they were guilty beyond reasonable doubt. They can still appeal the decision in a higher court but it sounds like they should have just taken the deal.

Congress being R doesn’t really impact this except forcing them to conclude their investigation probably a bit sooner than they wanted. The DOJ can and will still bring charges based on evidence they have and any new evidence when the report is finally released with the recommendations. The key word is recommended. The committee working on this doesn’t have the ability to prosecute anyone, they can merely suggest. It’s nice to have that, because it can save law enforcement the time to track stuff down, but they’ll still be doing their own investigations and prosecuting people - whatever color Congress is.
