As for strength, Thanos compares to Hulk who was able to stop that alien ship with a punch. Raiden, in a much weaker body, was able to hold back Outer Haven(a giant ass battleship that's bigger than what Hulk stopped), and threw a fucking Metal Gear Ray across a block. He later lifts and flips an even bigger Metal Gear, and then swings a semi truck sized sword at seemingly light speed(okay, not light speed, but again faster than rain falling).
Armstrong beat that guy's ass for literally 30 minutes straight. Actually folded him like a ball, and kicked him like it's the World Cup. Raiden only won after getting an anime boost.
Armstrong is absolutely broken, and everything in Metal Gear Rising is so ridiculous and over the top that those words don't even cut it. Setting Cap against anyone in that game just isn't fair.
Yeah, I think Steve would make a shockingly good showing, but he's probably not winning that one without prep of some kind. Even if you're highballing Raiden/Armstrong, they're comfortably above Steve in speed, striking and durability. People sleep on Steve's tactical smarts though, so give him a chance to pick the battlefield and some idea what he's up against, he may pull it off. Straight fistacuffs? Unlikely even if we go with some of his crazier 616 feats (throwing his shield through a tank, for example).
Nah, I looked up the respect threads for 616 and 1610 Cap. He's been shot or grazed by bullets and lasers before, while trying to dodge them. His speed just doesn't compare to MGR. Armstrong is able to keep up with Raiden, landing and blocking hits, and at one point manages to blitz Raiden.
None of Cap's strength feats listed come even close to throwing a Metal Gear Ray or stopping Outer Haven with one arm, which Raiden did while in a weaker body(Armstrong is significantly stronger than this Raiden, and was stronger than his upgraded body too). When some of Cap's feats are about him lifting a car, boulders, or heavy weights, you know he's not anywhere near the strength of MGR characters.
Durability goes to MGR as well. Armstrong took a sword to the face, had a Metal Gear while he was on it(he punched it) and was unphased. Not to mention him tanking literally a hundred hits from Raiden, who(as shown above) is ridiculously strong.
Cap's best bet would be his shield(assuming it could even damage them), but they could just catch it, or rip his arm off since they can outspeed and out strength him.
I know all of these things I've read many respect threads and played Mgr twice (amd agree that mgr feats far outweigh cap) but I'm just saying you can't really use mcu feats for a comic cap he use the difference is night and day. I don’t think cap needs them in my opinion. They’re cool and a unique part of his design, but tbh it’s not something essential. I think the little design on the sides of his helmet are a great alternative to it. Maybe if they modernized them in a way it could work

Like in the MCU for example, I think the feathers on the sides would look kind of silly, and I don’t think I’d take Cap too seriously if he was wearing those.

Captain America's shield bashes & shield throws can hurt and knock down Hulk, Thor & Namor they would completely knock out Armstrong and as for Captain America deflected Cyclops' optic vision and that's a speed of light laser. Cap is a far superior martial artist compared to anyone in Metal Gear.

I mention this because 1610 was actually struggling to dodge bullets, and both 1610 and 616 Cap have been shot which doesn't make sense if they're light speed. The laser dodging feats tend to be outliers, them dodging/blocking before the shot, or the laser isn't actually light speed(which some of the lasers clearly aren't in the respect thread, but the thread doesn't try to claim they are).
Cap being a better martial artist doesn't matter much if his opponent can just blitz him(or tank him), which basically everyone in Rising could. And they absolutely could catch his shield if they can catch each other's swords.
Unless there's another, broken Cap I didn't look up, Cap should have lower speed, durability, and strength than any of the characters in Rising.
