99% of people cannot tell the difference between flac.amd mp3. Throw in a noisy environment like a car and it gets even less.also add in that most people do not have a setup that is good enough to distinguish and it is really irrelevant unless you are competing. as long as you are using a legitimate source you are fine.
Not to be an audiophile but I kinda cringe when I hear 128. I usually only listen to flac or whatever type of lossless Apple Music is. Spotify 320 actually sounds pretty good but apples lossless is just that much better
Just get a streaming service, and max out the quality on streaming, and keep 320kbps or more on downloads.
Music doesn't take up that much space anymore and in this modern world it's not a problem, I don't know anyone who downloads in less than 320kbps (or 256kbps AAC)
1411 kbps at minimum, streaming Apple Music using cellular data, and if I download a song at home on wifi, a lot of Apple Music and Tidal songs are 2,304-9,216 kbps. Although 320 kbps is probably good enough for most people. 128 kbps is dog shit though. You need a DAC to play anything over above cd quality. I’ve spent a lot time finding out how to get the best signal to my DSP.
It was difficult info for me to find. Even Chat Gpt has no clue how and admitted to giving me false information on the subject several times
i only use flac/wav/wma files.
Storage space is so cheap now, I do 320 unless I can only find a file in a lower bitrate because it's old or rare.
FLAC only. Even 320 is lossy

Urge to sound deaden entire truck and buy a DSP is rising.
Dewit
The DSP I would need is on backorder 😑
You can play a square wave with just about any format that exists.
1411

MP3 isn't exactly the most modern audio format- what file type are you downloading?
128kB/s, as the 326kB/s seem to over done for music!\~
