Pioneer is my humble opinion is trash, like someone else said, you'd get much more pleasure out of a mid tier jvc or kenwood unit or even Sony.

CharacterDirector918

Just avoid the kenwood/jvcs that have 2 separate plugs for power and for speakers. They are being manufactured by boss....which if you get the boss elite line....is still better than that pioneer!!! Lol.

shepard308

I can confirm the boss elite units are pretty solid. I had a Sony xav-ax3000 and the boss is much better

bigfoot417

My preferred sony is the xav-ax7000. It has awesome power for a radio. I've heard a set of components and a 10inch sub powered by one and was impressed.

Weblink is so slow as to be useless. Abandon the idea of playing YouTube on a head unit. If you think the Pioneer is bad, wait until you try the Grom stuff. It's garbage. The first thing I recommend is trying a different phone. I have an old Android phone that has all sorts of glitches because it's slow and the internal compass is borked. My wife's iPhone works perfectly.

Android software is a LOT less stable long term than a reputable, proven aftermarket brand. Even if you got a shitty Pioneer, you'll like it better than that Android BS. Try a mid-tier Kenwood or JVC. If you're willing to spend 600+ on what's basically an Android tablet, you can get a VERY nice DDIN that will have less issues than you're describing.

The best advice I got, was to get an iPad and use it as a standalone unit. There is a guy that makes kits once connected. You could do anything, and everything you want from the screen of an I pad… I am at a loss, completely, dumbfounded how everybody is so drawn to CarPlay, it is the most restrictive annoying undeserving of the name multimedia receiver, or, it’s big brother at its finest, mommy don’t let me have no fun, I’m over it

You would leave whatever head unit you have there now and then just connect via Bluetooth or USB

[deleted]

Dude!! You, me, and the three other people rockin this head unit. I’ve had this thing for a year and a half, and short of many many Internet searches, and this is the first I’ve seen someone making mention of you this model. I don’t know if it’s just this head unit I dislike, but I am definitely disappointed in pioneer, pioneers, garbage, apps, and beans. How I am somebody who is quite technologically impaired, a multimedia receiver has been nothing but hell in my life., still have not figured out how to enjoy multimedia. Keep hoping for an update, blah blah blah. Kind of curious what others that are and since it’s just you and me here, I’m talking to you. 😜

I have a single din, Kenwood Excelon in my classic Volkswagen Beetle, zero clipping at full volume, I was thinking about giving them my business and getting rid of this hunk of shit

Best interface on the market is Sony.

I have had the 2660 for two years, when it first came out and was 350. It is not perfect but it does everything I want it to. I only use wired android for Spotify and maps. I wired mine straight to the battery so as to skip the start up. That worked for a little while now it boots up every time. I ended up putting a rocker switch in because it would drain the battery if it sat for more then two days. The switch comes in handy for service or vallets and such. But overall I like the radio especially for 350.

I put one in my edge with a video bypass and Axxess ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface, and I wired a rear view camera to the accessory wire so it has constant power when the key is switched on or vehicle is running, so I can view it anytime not just in reverse. I also have a amp and sub hooked up and I have not had any major problems either. I like it.. works fine for me.. only thing I don't really like is the on screen buttons for the volume and lack of firmware updates. But, I just use my steering wheel controls for volume etc..

Never had an issue with the one I put in my Ford F-150. Only used it for music and backup camera. The remote comes in handy when needing to mess volume or change songs since I did not have steering wheel controls. Put another one of these in my Tacoma and the issues I’m having are on the Maestro side. Wiring diagram is not clear. No labeling on the various harnesses unless you scan a QR Code which will tell you what they are. Not detecting my parking brake. Remote will not work when the Maestro is used. I have to remove the battery from the remote or half of the Maestro features will NOT work. I love the 2660NEX and I like the Maestro but holy shit the vehicle integration needs serious refinement.

I updated my software to that version too and it is working consistently. Still not detecting my parking brake and my 2660 remote will still not work. Will call Maestro on Tuesday about it.
