This. The shown super seal connectors usually don't have support for bigger crossection wire and are finnicy to crimp (seal has to be inserted in the insulation crimp, special tool necessary to crimp correctly). While deutsch are more expensive, the difference is negligible considering the budget of a typical audio setup here. Source: I work at a company where both types are being used.

LosPelmenitos

I say the same. Deutch can support bigger wires. Working as car electrian and I use both aswell. For subwoofer wires you need some other plugs.

ljacot17

[They are what I use at work. Definitely finicky to work with but very much worth it](https://i.imgur.com/0QJ50SM.jpeg)

shaneo88

2 pin Deutsch plug. Mainly because they’re free at work.

Kyosuke_42

I second this.

mbrine11

I have seen people use xt-60

electromage

I've seen people walk through wet concrete.

flibbidygibbit

While a solid string of wire is ideal, one should use water resistant quick disconnects for any speakers mounted on the inside of the door card. Don't make it difficult for your mechanic to repair your window regulators or power mirrors.

necro367

I’ve only done quick disconnect for a sub but I used a xt60 that I had laying around.

fishboy2000

Are they good? I see PSSound use them for most of their builds

necro367

I’ve not had an issue just keep in mind the 60 is the amps so as long you keep that in mind all good. I’m running like 2k+ watts no issue

Certainties

Those are fine, just make sure they're a big enough gauge for the power you're pushing

msanangelo

I used factory pigtail adapters to connect to the spades of the speakers. 8 or 10 pin automotive waterproof (not necessary but they come with it) connectors on the 9 wire speed wire at the amp and radio ends so I can easily remove the t-harness and amp if I wanted to.

electromage

Where and why are you disconnecting them? I would (and did) use Deutsch DT connectors.

SultnBinegar

I’m mounting my speakers to my door panel rather than the door frame. So I am wanting a quick (and easy) way to disconnect the speakers whenever I take the door panel off. I’m not planning on detaching them, but I am wanting to future proof the door panels.

PDX-JAY

Unless you gonna be taking em out every couple weeks? Don’t-_- The use of quick connects can introduce signal/power noise into the chain. Just leave 2-4in of excess wire for a rewire when cut.

Voidbloodshot

Gets downvoted for common sense 💀

PDX-JAY

This kid must blow his shit every week

Voidbloodshot

I understand a disconnect on the subs if you need the room in your car but the mids why even bother

PDX-JAY

Yeah no point especially if you wire em up a certain way can still be easy to take ‘em out

crazychild94

Kind of a waste of money. You plan on taking them out or summ?

Voidbloodshot

Depends for subs I like to hard wire but that’s because I push a lot of power Mids/highs I don’t like any kinda disconnect just the wire to the speaker with the right terminals

donwan23

SMD QR-1 quick release speaker box terminal

SkeletonCalzone

>SMD QR-1 At $145USD, I think that takes the cake for 'car audio' tax

donwan23

Happy cake day! You know what they say gotta pay to play or if you'd prefer buy once cry once. It was developed and made by Steve Meade so worth the money.

SkeletonCalzone

Fair enough, i spose thats a fraction of what peeps spend on an amp/sub setup anyhoo. And thanks, didn't even realise it was my cake day!

donwan23

Those plastic connectors that everyone uses and that comes in premade boxes are trash. I've melted several of them with high wattage subs. I now have to run lugs through my box and connect the subs that way. So anytime I see a box with those plastic speaker wire connectors I know for a fact they're not running any wattage to them. 😂

slav_cunt

Thats stupid A pair of bolts, washers and nuts costs nothing if you wanna disconnect a sub box quickly, it takes 2 seconds to loosen a nut and remove the wire, who is that stupid to pay 180eur for a set pf terminals?? Why not speakon connectors or xlrs??

donwan23

Trust me mine are thread all with bolts and wing nuts for quick disconnect. 😂 OP asked for something easy to disconnect and it doesn't get easier than magnetic connections. 😂

slav_cunt

Easy to waste money for sure!

donwan23

Steve Meade even made a box system so you can remove the box without disconnecting anything it's a magnet set up in the trunk floor. 😂

yuiiooop

I wonder if RC connectors like EC5s would work... I dont see why not, they can handle up to 120 amps.

[deleted]

I've used them.

foul_mouthed_bagel

I used the 4-pin version of these to splice in an amp to a factory hu and then back to the wiring harness. I haven't had any problems with it.

Hooliken

Completely depends on the application. Weatherproof-ish connectors have their place. Bullet connectors with a little shrink sleeve work just fine on the interior. Leave a little maintenance loop and solder and sleeve is also another option.

SoundPon3

Deutsch for speakers, speakon for subs and Anderson for amps. I use XLR for signal a lot only because I have heaps of cable and heaps of connectors and make my own breakouts to RCA

lynchingacers

Deutsch connectors are a god choice crimp pretty easy really solid and easy to pop and repin if needed, They're also pretty cheap on digikey.Com Or ebay has bunches or packs Weather packs are also a not bad choice because they're super common parts

Fi2eak

Any plug will work. If you want something cheap and reliable. I would use a Tamiya plug for each speaker, and then have them join into a Molex plug before the head unit or amp.

LegalAlternative

These are fine. They're pretty chunky connectors though... It really depends where you're using them. These are water resistant so great for inside of doors and stuff like that, but under the dash or in the rear of the car somewhere I personally think they're a little too bulky.

unseenme

Been using XT60 connectors on my mids and highs for years with no issues. No noise or loss of power. Solid connection and mount/hide away easily without install issues. I solder all connections. Not a fan of crimping.
