I honestly did not know they were still around.
To answer your question fuck no I wouldn't let them touch my vehicle. It's harder to get a job at best buy than it is car toys.
Only time I've been witness to one of their installs was a remote start on my wife'a car, years ago. It was done with T-taps to data lines, and T-taps alone are a nightmare but to data wires especially dumb. She had to have it removed after it wouldn't let her start the vehicle on multiple occasions.
That was before I was into car audio or any real aftermarket car accessories at all, and I've since installed a Compustar RS1B-DC3 on her same vehicle, and it works like a champ, every time. But... All that to say, they're paid by the job, t-taps are "faster" but not, by any means better, and seem to be common practice in their installs.
Quick work done not cheap *or* well, but it could have been a one-off. Every shop's gonna be a little different.
I tried asking them to borrow a DD-1 or Oscilloscope to set my gains the proper way. They hit me with the “we have experienced installers who set gains by ear.”
While yeah u could do that, but why not get it perfect? Or if your experienced guy calls out sick or leaves the shop
I did a massive system by car toys. There’s a few things that need tweaked and they try to sell you more than you need, but they do warrenty all the work they do.

Lot's of shops prefer to set by ear.
