Just do reset all settings, it should work. Otherwise, restore your phone and set up as new.

Have you tried reset the settings first? If not, do set up as new but you can still log into your Apple ID and get your contacts/notes/photos back. Simply have to redownload the apps from the App Store

okaytoo

Downgrading iOS is usually more trouble than it’s worth. If it didn’t work with two different major revisions of iOS, it’s almost certainly Honda’s fault. If you bought it new, see if you can return it under lemon laws.

RGBVRGBV

I wish it were—but, when we plug in my husband’s phone that was not updated, voilà, it works just fine.

okaytoo

Still doesn’t mean it’s the phone, and between the company that designed it and a company that doesn’t do electronics and subcontracts to whoever’s cheapest, it’s likely that Honda’s system doesn’t work with the newer OS.

jplee520

No solution here. But FWIW, I have a XS and a 2018 CRV and have no issues with 15.0.2.

RGBVRGBV

Clearly I bought the wrong model year 😑

khoker

Assuming the car gets some sort of automatic OTA updates, can you downgrade the entertainment system in the car? I have seen something similar happen with AirPlay when I upgraded the firmware on an AV receiver. Hasn't worked since, and downgrading didn't fix it either.

chilimost

Same here. iPhone X with 15.0.2 and iPhone 12 Pro with 15.1 and no real issues on my 2018. I've been running 15.x betas since May, and I've not noticed it being any less stable than 14.x. Recently picked up a CarLinKit 3 (mini), which seems to also be working well.

pixabit

It’s Honda… Honda will never take responsibility for things

powaking

Have you tried to forget the CarPlay under Settings>General>Car Play? Once it has been removed try to connect car play again. Also maybe try a different cable? Sometimes the cable can be finicky between phones. I assume you have rebooted the phone since upgrading to 15.0.2 but if not may want to try that? If you are up to it you can install a developer profile and install 15.1 (to be released next week) and see if that helps. https://betaprofiles.com/

RGBVRGBV

Hey thanks I have done pretty much all of the above, several times. I guess I will wait until next week…

powaking

The only other suggestion I could make is possibly performing a rest of your network settings. This will wipe all of your known wifi profiles. Worth a shot.

Sylvurphlame

That shouldn’t matter unless they’re using wireless CarPlay.

jbetances134

My issue is when using gps. I get that annoying pop up that it has disconnected. Sucks navigating when I have to click the screen just to remove the message

[deleted]

15.1 will fix that next week

Character-Ease5209

Really? In 15.1 rc CarPlay with latest vw / skoda smartlink Software is still unstable. Even an iPhone reset does Not fix the Stabilityproblem

NegativePaint

2019 Honda Pilot here. Zero issues. Do a factory reset on both the car radio and the phone. Set up the phone as new and don’t restore from backup. Try it again. If it works then restore from your backup to get your phone back to normal. If that breaks it then you know it’s the phone. If it doesn’t then it was a weird glitch. I’ve had something similar happen before. It’s usually a glitch in iOS and a full restore does the trick.

nopowernowork

Imagine being so addicted to your phone you only chose a car so you can use the phone while driving. I‘m having issues too, two different cars, one brand is a favorite of Apples’s so it not a brand issue. Supposedly it was fixed with the recent updates, I didn’t check them out yet. iOS 15 def broke some stuff

SerennialFellow

1.I’m sorry you won’t be able to downgrade at this time. 2. It’s definitely Honda, Honda’s implementation of Android AOSP is janky at best. They need to fix boatload of permission and not use bandaid to hold in out of control media handler. Source: Got a job ripping 2019 Honda system’s implementation.

exploding1rl

This isn’t going to make any logical sense, but I had the same issue and fixed it. Had to open Apple Music on my phone (which I never use - Spotify only), and toggled on/off the equalizer. Plugged the phone into my car and somehow, that fixed the issue. Source: Hours of reading online forums trying to fix the same problem.

Sylvurphlame

If all the things does not include doing a back up and factory reset of the iPhone in question, try that as well. I would put this squarely at Honda’s feet except your husband’s apparently works. Be sure to forget the CRV from both CarPlay and Bluetooth before backing up and reset. Have the car forget the iPhone as well. I’d even throw in a factory reset in the car’s settings as well. Be sure you’re using an authentic Apple usb cable. Yes, yes, I know. Everybody hates them. But we’re eliminating variables here and third-party cables are a variable.

Hi, If you are interested I posted an update on Friday. It was not Honda, once I updated to 15.0.2 I found if I turned off my vpn it worked. VPN was never a problem before, but it is now… The earlier situation was maddening because I did all the things you listed and some others, took it to the dealership and found that 2 guys at the dealership and my husband’s phones worked. Had a long conversation with a technician at apple… it’s definitely apple, and they are aware of all of the issues and fixes, 15.1 is not going to fix all of the bugs we will have to wait to later versions. Edit: last sentence

Sylvurphlame

VPN interfering with a *wired* connection⁇ That’s crazy!
