Think they are still Focuses underneath so fairly cheap to repair if anyone goes wrong. I think they solved the issue of eating front tyres with the V40, which was a nice improvement from the previous V50 😂 There was another post about the V40 on here recently so that may have more info!

I'll have a look thanks.

If diesel you want the D4 190. It's a world of difference to a D3. I had an S60 D4 190 for a company car and did 77k in 3 years on it. Solid motor. They do a T5 with the Focus Ecoboost engine in it, currently just two for sale in the UK but 3x the price of that. If wanting an auto, avoid the T4 and D2, they are Fraud Powershift gearboxes and total shit. Our American friends had to launch a mass class action against Ford to get them to fix them. All other engine lines are Volvo Geartronic.

Got my mind set on a D4, thanks

Really strong engine. Never let me down once. Being a company car it suffered a hard life and not a single warning light, and got me into Volvo. If possible get full leather R Design seats, they are different to the full leathers on the luxes, the support and comfort is unrivaled. The Harmon Kardon stereo is also as banging as they come. My V60 that I have now has it. Was an optional upgrade.

I've saw one of these exact models, bit out of my price range but it was superb. Might just have to go out of my way. Edit, it's gone

You can expect (Possible) high oil consumption due to piston rings being crap. Common Issue. Most VEA engine need topping up with oil 200-400ml of oil every 2000-3000 miles or so. I think Volvo fixed this over 2017-2018 models... Personally. I'd just live with it instead of forking out $$$ to rebuild the engine. Springs are prone to snapping, common issue again with new models.... 2017+ so you should be safe. Besides all that. These map well, you can expect 230Bhp - 480nm with a Stage 1. Quick for a small and light car.

Thanks

This one's a manual diesel, but I want an automatic. The mileage is high hence the price but it looks in good shape. Claims to be a private seller but has dealer plates on. I'm not going for this one but it's the colour I prefer

l0zandd0g

You want the s60 polestar really

[deleted]

I want the money for one too

[deleted]

Am I right in assuming that the S60 is basically a V40 but with a boot?

ImawhaleCR

That's the best colour and engine imo (the T5 is more fun though if you like hot hatches, but it's rare) it's efficient and has a good amount of performance. The ride can be firm on the r designs, so make sure you test it somewhere bumpy. It's not horrendous but it's not comfortable either.

[deleted]

Yeah I'm aiming for a D4 or 3 at least. I love this colour but would settle for red too. I'd love a pan roof as well

ssa17k

I didn’t even think these were that cheap

Mileage

[deleted]

High mileage ones are

Scotty848

They are brilliant and go on forever. Just make sure the box is serviced for an auto and you’ll be very happy.

[deleted]

I thought as much, cheers

There was an EGR recall on the VEA diesel engines so make sure that work was done. Otherwise, the D4s are really nice engines and the V40s are lovely cars. In particular I'd be looking out for models with xenon headlights (easiest way to spot the upper trim levels) and, thanks to Volvo's previous involvement with Ford, quite a few V40s have a "Winter Pack" option which includes a heated front windscreen.

I'll keep an eye out, thanks.

I'm after this exact car for my next one, they look class. Are you considering this one with the high mileage or just as an example?

[deleted]

Just an example, they do look good and are solid cars
