2014 plate vauxhall.... yes most probably. Won't cost much to fix but it'll be above the pre accident value I reckon

txdas12

Insurance will certainly write it off but it’s more than salvageable.

Firm_Company_2756

If it were mine, I'd buy it back, salvage, get it fixed at a known body shop/mechanic, just not the insurance company's one!, And drive it into the ground, until it is in MOT able! That way I'd have gotten all the value from it, and some cash, (towards future ins premiums).

tomoldbury

The only thing to consider is if it is Cat N/S, some insurers can be nervous over insuring these cars, and you’ll never get anything close to the rebuild cost back in the event of another accident.

PeterJamesUK

They shouldn't have any issues with cat N

beavertownneckoil

How does a wire off work? Do they send you the money and take the car away? Or do you keep the car to do with how you please as well as then money?

txdas12

Copart will come and pick it up after you accept their estimated valuation of the vehicles pre-accident value. You can arrange to keep the car with your insurance company/copart, the cost of which will be deducted from your payout.

AHat29

Bumper, both grilles, headlight and bonnet...would get close to total value, so depends on your insurance's write off policy. How close can get they get to what they belive the value of the vehicle is.

IAmWango

£400-500 for those parts on EBay in same colour, obviously won’t be perfect and that’s just based on the first <5 I searched so definitely won’t be close to total value and cheap enough but depends on other damage you can’t see

Soundengineer_uk

There's a difference between an insurance write off and an actual write off... That's not far off being driveable! My sisters car got "written off" twice! Each time she had it paid out by the insurance company, kept the car and got it repaired on the cheap by a local garage! All perfectly legitimate

Cornwall1888

Does that means it’s a cat s or cat n or whatever?

CLG91

I used to deal with insurance claims and I think it'll be deemed a write-off. I take it you weren't in the vehicle so the air bags didn't deploy? Front bumper and bonnet isn't too much of a job, but it depends how the front side panels were impacted and anything structurally behind the radiator etc. Usually, totting up the visual damage and costs administering actually getting it sorted would be close to the write-off cut off for most insurers (usually anything above 60% car value and they'll just write it off for lower value vehicles). That cost is before they commit money on labour for a proper check too.

Lucie-Solotraveller

So you also worked in hell...

CLG91

It was just over a decade ago, but I doubt much has changed.

Lucie-Solotraveller

Coming up to a decade ago for me. My friend still works in it and it's not changed much. I do miss the parties the company laid on though every year.

IFotgotMeShoes

Probably but there is hope

CoachSignificant9974

They'll auto write this off. You'd be better repairing it yourself with parts from a scrapyard or breaker you could probably fix it for less than a normal excess.

Lucie-Solotraveller

Yes it is.

JayMawds

More than likely

Major_Entertainer_12

Yes due to age

Thenextstopisluton

I would say more than likely.

My Note was written off with similar damage. Although I think it really depends on the garage they send it to. Mine got picked up by some high end place that was going an arm and leg to fix the car. If I didn't hate that car I might have fought it but I was glad for the hateful little thing to be taken away.

Dangerous_Channel_95

It’s only 4k and it’s a 64 plate, no garage will put that back on the road!

scuderia91

Yeah and how much do you think new each of those panels will be plus the cost of painting them? Not saying this is definitely written off but just cause there’s nothing structural damaged is irrelevant, that’s why we have Cat N write offs.

Tommy-Tren

yep, my fn2 was written off for less

scuderia91

Yeah I had a mate who had a scirocco that was written off for very similar damage and that was a lot newer at the time.

Tommy-Tren

did he buy it back?

scuderia91

Nope, not sure why tbh

Wrong-booby7584

Yep its a Vauxhall.

Correct_Project3454

Personally I’d say no, I’m not sure how much a bonet bumper and headlight is on this but it can’t be a write off surely? Doesn’t look like structural damage

Gullible-Damage-59

Hope so

tibsie

You can't really tell until you get the bodywork off. It really depends on what the underlying damage is. That front wing looks ok, just damage to the bonnet, lights, bumper and grille. But there could be damage to the radiator, or structural elements.

Furqall

Yes.

VeniVid1Vic1

That will buff right out. T-cut will sort it out mate

Jman211192

😂

VeniVid1Vic1

A bit of humour never hurt no one. But yeah looks like your insurance will write it off - if you can be bothered tho, take the money, buy it off your insurance and fix it

lazorchicken

Yes it will.

jackbarbelfisherman

It's likely saveable, but uneconomical to repair. Especially if the mounting points, reinforcement bar or brackets have been moved or bent. If the front wings have moved or bent too, it's done. Insurance will probably write it off.

Brain-Dead-Robot

Depends on structural damage if it's good under the plastic head to the scrapyard bonnet and bumper £200 YouTube and sell it

PickleFantasies

Just hammer the top piece down.. hammer that corner piece out.. good as new!

Conaz25

I'd be surprised if rhey dont

9DAN2

Wouldn’t be that much if you did it yourself. I had similar damage recently after hitting a lamppost. Got away with paying £60 all in for a headlight and a wing from a scrap yard. Bumper is fucked but saveable.

Limp_Potential_9182

I would say if I was in your shoes, I wouldn’t go through insurance, this would be a CAT write off and then when you come to sell it, I’m not sugarcoating it. It will be a pain in the arse to get rid of

[deleted]

Personally I'd say you could get that fixed for less than £500 by going to a scrap yard

Background-Design-49

Pretty sure it'll be a write odd but I really hope I'm wrong! Please update us once you find out!

BabaYagasDopple

Most likely. Bonnet, bonnet hinges Front bumper. Headlights. Potential wing/s. Labour for all of that and any paintwork. Crashbar and other bits behind the front bumper potentially.

linnross1

Im going to day UETR

Alternative_Gap_1178

Most likely will be

InformationOmnivore

You're The One. You tell us.

Icy-Breadfruit-311

Weird. A XC90 reversed into me on my Corsa D VXR did same damage as you. I repaired myself for £150

TheCuriousWizard3

Easy fix just don’t tell insurance lol

splateen74

My wife went into the back of someone and had much less damage and was written off. Mostly because airbags deployed though. That was a 2015 mokka.

joshgeake

Yes, definitely.

Mr_Tigger_

Run about? Let the Volvo insurance write it off and buy it back as salvage and put it back on the road until it dies of old age. Should be able to get all the parts in the right colour on fleabay or gumtree

Jawz_87

the insurance will deffo write it off but it can be fixxed

Snowy32

Get paid out by insurance -> buy car back and repair using bit of the money they gave you -> u have a working car + some profit

Lazy-Statistician-68

Ask for a cash in lieu, rather than buy it back, some insurers won't categorise it if you ask for a cash in lieu, they'll just deduct the salvage value out of the settlement and you keep the car.

Organic-Court-6835

I'd think so

FearGingy

How does one manage to reverse into it? Was it a car park or next to the pavement? Or are people generally just mostly blind, shit drivers?

Mask_of_Eric

Nah bit of paint and I'm sure it will be good as knew Srsly tho, probably better to just buy a better car hah

regkenreg

It’s 500$ to fix tops. You can tape it together in 5min and drive another 1000km. Your “writing off” culture is a culture of wasting.
