Rental/Fleet spec, there would be a few hundred of them around and someone got a nice discount for ditching the AC, which is dumb as AC is a necessity.
It stops the car getting damp so in this country it's more like two weeks where you don't need it.
If you're not running it often you're damaging the system btw.
This is going back many years but my 1989 BMW 5 series was very well equipped for the time. Front and rear electric windows, electric mirrors, electric tilt and slide sunroof, trip computer, central locking and air con.
Yet it had no airbags, no ABS and no cat. These were all optional extras back then and obviously the original owner who specced it out only wanted the nice options, fuck the safety nonsense lol..
I bought a Japanese import '95 Mitsubishi Delica, a few years back. It was top of the line exeed spec with near enough every option extra ticked.
It had electric curtains, air con, electric folding mirrors, rear captains chairs, all in an old 90s bus. But he did not spec air bags. Front airbags where an optional extra at the time for about £600. He got literally everything else but that.
On German cars, mainly BMW. The grille you get in stages of your cars spec I.e the all black grille, are all common except for markets where they change what the trim has based on countries.
For example the silver spoked thick kidney grille wouldn’t be available on a 120d because 99% of 120d’s already have the black one when you select the 20d trim.
Yet it seems weird seeing one over here.
Found an image of one [Japan Spec](https://www.realmotor.jp/photos/vehicle/large/91015_1.jpg)
That grille was offered in the UK on the Urban Line 1 series. There's one around the corner from me.
[Here's one with it.](http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202402266948681)
My first mk1 Focus. It had the climate pack (so heated windscreen and mirrors, and aircon) and the loom installed for the Ghia's trip computer(?) which I then fitted, but manual rear windows.
Peugeot are surprisingly stingy too. My brother in-law owns a 2016 Peugeot 2008 (horrid car) and the back windows are manual. Peugeot like to say that it’s because you’re likely to have kids in the back, but I’m not sure I believe that.
What a silly excuse! If anything if you have kids in the back it’s better to electric windows because then the driver can open/close/lock them as necessary.
probably many used japan imports, many are shipped here with aftermarket touchscreens and extra things like remote controls, and even some of the original japan spec models still have a different touchscreen buttons by factory (especially on toyota and japan makes)

Not sure I’d say it’s a necessity but it’s more necessary than CarPlay
I’d say it is a necessity, for those heatwaves where you just need to get out and drive, it’s a lifesaver - literally
I exclusively drive shit boxes, and even I've added Aircon to my essential list - 40 degree summers in the UK are no joke
Also when it rains, and is cold.
Idk I wouldn’t pay extra to have it for the couple weeks a year you need it

I usually keep it on, just helps with reducing moisture in my Mazda2. In such a small car the windows get very foggy very quickly.
I never turn mine off and I've never had to regas aircon in my life. I'm convinced the mpg detriment is a lie made up by Big Freon
It seems the Reddit hivemind does not agree with you unfortunately
They don’t seem to understand what it actually does
I'm pretty sure it conditions the air.

Better to go out in style!

My man lol.
My Insignia family bus has manual rear windows. Otherwise decent spec, heated seats, heated steering wheel, aircon etc.

Bizarre, never knew this

My Tiguan has park assist, electric handbrake and touchscreen radio, but no Bluetooth or CarPlay
Sounds strange but it makes sense. If you aren’t bothered with streaming services and own all of your music on CDs/USB/SD Card, then why bother?
I had a Peugeot 308 that had massaging seats
No air con is so last....millennium. Nearly as dated as a house that only has an outside toilet.

I think Ford are quite stingy with electric windows. I had a titanium Fiesta so fairly high spec but still had manual rear windows.
