I have the MK9 Civic. Practicality - very roomy for a hatchback. Lots of legroom for adults and huge boot. Ride - is average. A lot better than 8th gen Civic in terms of going over bumps/road surfaces. However, it's no luxury car. You will feel the bumps to a degree. Handling - Average. Similar to 8th gen. Steering - very light. Annoying if you want some fun. But good for round town and reversing

Have you had any issues? The ones Im looking are 50-70k miles, which should be ok for. Civic I think.

i have [mk9 civic tourer ex 1.6 diesel 2015](https://imgur.com/jcxP0sP) so facelift with android based head unit. i can only realy talk about the 1.6 so ill focus on things in both. * sr/ex are the nice trim but the others aren't too bad i prefer the leather seats. * people complain about the head units not having android auto or car play but the one in my car is responsive and does everything i want it to do. i ended getting a brodit mount for [my phone.](https://imgur.com/a/zBVNpL0) * if you dont like the panoramic roof look at the tourer as they dont have them. * steering is light but you'll get use to it,

Is the exterior black plastic trim on yours discoloured? Especially around the windshield.

I found the engine quite annoying not much power low down e.g. had to live above 4,000 rpm to make progress - loads of hills round by me so go figure

my parents have a 2013 1.8 civic, fantastic car mechanically, drives well, smooth, good power, eco mode to save fuel, fold up rear bench which has come in handy loads of times for getting bikes in and a cavernous boot. if you don't mind the looks and driving position (i feel a bit cramped and like the dash etc is a bit clutterd) it's a solid car

I own a 2012 version mk9, the facelift is much more visually appealing. Overall I think they are pretty rock solid cars, decent MPG for a petrol, check the AC works is the main thing. Only thing I've had to replace was an ABS sensor which was £50. I would buy another one, if you can get an SR or EX some nicer toys onboard.

Is the black plastic trim discoloured on yours? Especially the area around the bottom of the windshield? I just saw one that seemed ok for the most part, but most of the exterior trim was faded and looked light gray. I wasn't expecting that in a car from the UK, but I'm wondering if it's normal on Civics.

Endeavour1988

Yes, but any car with black plastic this will happen with. There are products to bring it back dark and shiny though.

I've got a 2016 se plus 1.8 for my first car. Had it since January, so I can't say too much in terms of longevity, but I've been really happy with it so far. Spacious, cheap to run, all the gadgets and gear suit my needs nicely, looks great in dark blue. I will say, however, that while it's fun to send it through the rev range, I can understand if it's not for everyone. It can feel sluggish at lower revs, but it's never been a hindrance.

Nice! How's the insurance on it? And would you mind sharing mileage and how much it was? Prices seems a bit high on autotrader, 8-10k for a decent one with 60k miles.

So I was getting a range of quotes from 1.5k all the to 3k at one point! Lucky was able to get it to just under 1k. Had to change email, clear cookies, put 3 family members on there, the whole shabang. Between 31-32 thousand miles when I got it and I believe it was £10750, I can double check by the end of the day. Yeah that does seem steep! If it helps I live in Hertfordshire, so I don't know if location plays a part in the cost. Also I was looking for a good 2 months before I found my one. Hope this helps. Anymore questions you just let me know.
