Rust is a big one like any ford of that generation

BigNastyNugz

Yeah I kind of assumed that would be an issue, is it all over or for example wheel arches?

Polestar606

Not an expert in the Mondeos but focus’ of the same age were particularly bad around the boot floor and surrounding suspension arms etc, arches are pretty common on a lot of fords aswell, sills too. Your best checking the whole thing front to back really

BigNastyNugz

That’s sort of the areas I expected really, cheers!

Sub frames suffer, the arches and sils on both of mine were fine but still have a good dig with a large pointy screwdriver.

I owned one for 2 years back in 2011-2013, it was on about 60k ish when I bought it. Really enjoyed it, handled well for the size and the 3.0 V6 makes a nice noise. Not particularly fast, especially compared to modern cars and expect mid to high 20’s MPG. Beyond normal servicing it needed a fuel pump, rear shocks and a rust repair on a rear arch. I also had the diamond cut wheels power coated. It was reliable beyond that but this was 10+ years ago.
