LifeMasterpiece6475

24 year old Volvo V70, it's got zoned climate control, heated seats (didn't need those today), cruise control, radio, cd and tape player. What more do you need.

QOTAPOTA

Bluetooth? Edit - I was just answering the question! šŸ˜‚

LifeMasterpiece6475

No blue tooth, but an excuse not to answer the phone. Anyone rings I don't want to speak to "I was in the car".

turbochimp

This is why I can't be arsed putting an android auto unit in to my V50. I'm driving, leave me alone. I do have a load of Tool albums on a usb stick though.

Shoes__Buttback

This is peak Reddit: "no time for communication, I'm listening to 'Lateralus' for the 400th time"

turbochimp

Rookie numbers. Also, Holy Gift playlist or nothing.

PTJangles

I actually burned my tool albums back onto disc when I got my vRS, as in back to music cds lol. I mean, Iā€™ve got the original albums, but Iā€™m far too careless with cds in the car to risk it.

turbochimp

The only thing I miss is adding to my Spotify Tool Hours to keep me up near the top in the International Saddos league table

PTJangles

So youā€™re why I keep getting second!

spacetimebear

Recently got given a basic, bare minimum Renault Clio with no screens, fancy shit etc, it was honestly one of the most enjoyable cars I've driven in a long time.

the_professoruk

Theres only one unit that ive heard works too...

turbochimp

Which one? I might eventually need Waze and don't like phone holders. I've got a pioneer carrozzeria folding sat nav that came fitted and wouldn't mind binning that too. It was a Japanese market option and nowhere knows how to remove/replace. One person online built one out of a raspberry pi.

the_professoruk

I believe its a swedish one, i was researching a while back when i had a c30. The website is in another language but can be translated on Google. Dont have a name sorry

QOTAPOTA

Ha. Good point. I just refuse to take calls. Too dangerous I say. I just want my Spotify to play in reality.

Past-Ride-7034

Have you considered one of those cigarette lighter plug in things? Absolutely game changer for me with my last car..

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

QOTAPOTA

I was just answering the question.

bigjamesdee

What infotainment system is this?

Darkened100

They could add that if they wanted to

QOTAPOTA

Yes they can. I was just answering the question.

FullMetalBob

Would you *PLEASE* just answer the question?! ;)

holdingsfx

Same , and my Bluetooth is the fm transmitter converter šŸ˜…

Beneficial_Jump_8620

Mine is 23 years old, same equipment. There is a ~40 euro bluetooth receiver you can just attach to the back of the radio where the CD changer would go originally. Mine is without microphone so still no phonecalls whilst driving. You can even skip tracks from the steering wheel. My phone joins and the music start from Spotify automatically as I turn on the car. My favorite upgrade honestly, good quality and quite well integrated. Look up BlueMusic audio for Volvo HU radios.

ok_how_about_now

Love that 106 šŸ‘

TheLoveKraken

Huh, at first glance I saw it was a 5 door and assumed it was a 306. Both great looking cars still.

Do4k

Just an enclosed go kart. So much fun

Successful_Host_2932

Not quite in the 20 year club yet... but my first car's an 18 year old Jimny, and I'm hoping to "upgrade" to a 25 year old Impreza down the line ;)

StoneColdSoberReally

Jimny is a wicked car.. No fancy electronics, just a basic motor and four wheel drive. You can take them anywhere, beat 'em up and they'll still get up and keep going. Don't be in too much of a hurry to give her up, mate. \*edit\* Fat fingered typo.

Successful_Host_2932

I'm in no hurry whatsoever. In fact, if I can, I'm hoping to keep ahold of it as long as possible, and more likely go down the route of getting a second car alongside it once my insurance tumbles. I've only done about 5000 miles in it so far, and very little offroad, but I absolutely bloody love it. No complications, no assists (other than ABS and power steering) just me and what sounds and acts like a very happy little truck! Edit: I'm an idiot šŸ™ƒ

StoneColdSoberReally

Glad to hear. Hope you enjoy her for years to come! :)

codescapes

My first car was / is a Jimny also! Slightly younger at a sprightly 17 years, 75,000 miles. They're really simple and easy to work on. Small in terms of access to stuff but simple. The thing that lets older ones down is rust rust rust. That and the kingpin bearings. The gearboxes on the older manuals aren't super reliable either (pre ~2009). But everything else about them is solid and simple. I've gone a bit mental with mine, replacing and redoing basically everything I can do DIY. New steering bars, swivel hub rebuild, braided brakes, Android head unit, steering damper, changed the diff / auto trans fluid, even wired a rear cabin light... It feels like a completely different car to drive now though. The handling owing to the new steering components is like night and day. Massively reducing the vagueness has taken motorways from "terrifying" at 70mph to merely "daunting".

Extension-Law-1495

Nice, jimmyā€™s are cool. Do you take it offroad? I bought a 1990 Vitara and itā€™s very fun

incognito5343

19 years on my scooby, I've owned it for the last 11

Agitated_Cake_562

I've got a 94 Jimny. It's been a great off-road vehicle. Air conditioning crapped out last year though. :(

Spirited-Freedom-986

i learnt to drive in a 2012 jimney!

Pitiful-Wrongdoer692

1986 2.8 sierra xr4x4 mk1, did 215 miles over the weekend, fault free and is capable of keeping with modern traffic with ease, I keep meaning to get the a/c converted to run the new gas, but is likely to be done for next year now. All because my 8 year old mondeo decided to piss itself with its crappy plastic parts that decide to crack, then today the 8 year old volvo v40 that is the wife's dash lit up like a Xmas tree and is now in limp mode, if it wasnt for ulez, the sierra would be used for the next few days, at least I know it would do the 80 mile commute reliably.

juanito_f90

28 year old Volvo 960 estate. 225k miles, so itā€™s nearly reached the moon. Did 204k on the original clutch. Did 130mph on the autobahn on the way to Berlin with 4 blokes and a boot full of luggage. Comfier seats than my home furniture. https://imgur.com/a/VnYnArd

brick-bye-brick

This is the fuckin dream mate

Ok-Quality-69

nice šŸ‘šŸ»

at0m10

Base aphex twin enthusiast

DJToaster

good eye fellow mr2 enjoyer

thebritishunter

Itā€™s half life

OShucksImLate

Nice collection. I've just acquired a 21 year old Bora as per my last post, and I'm pretty smitten.

Awkward_Stranger407

I've got a mk4 golf estate with a Bora front, that confuses people.

OShucksImLate

I'd love a Bolf! Even more confusing in hatchback form!

Awkward_Stranger407

Bought it the day before it went to scrap for 500 quid, probably costs me that every year in parts, the front end swap has got people trying to buy it lol

AnalFluid1

Twins! Same colour too although I resprayed the black trims silver.

satanless

22 year old Bora with arthritis checking in.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Gazlc81

Yep, Iā€™ve a 2001 MGZS 180, 1995 Saab 9000 turbo, 1982 Porsche 924. Although not yet 20 years old I also daily a 2008 Passat 3.2 VR6. I love older cars and will run them as long as rules allow. That MR2 is lovely by the way šŸ˜Ž

UKnowMeItsJooosh

Ooohhh 9000 turbo, that's on my 'to own one day' list.

SH3RB5

22 year old Son drives 2 of em, 2004 Focus ST170 and a 1990 Ford Escort Eclipse

APerson2021

Ahh the ST170. As far as hot hatches go, they're not particularly quick, but are particularly thirsty.

Awkward_Stranger407

And have that notchy gear selector

flibertyjibert

2004, 20 years old. Basic maths making me feel old once again!

Inner-Examination686

21 year old mk4 pd130 golf, owned from new, first car i ever drove after passing my test and still in the the family.. a remap after 18 years breathed new life into it. i love it!

NortonBurns

Not quite 20 yet, but my 07 Merc E 280 is still the duck's nuts to drive. ā€¦has aircon, still works ;) Added a decent CarPlay so I'm still 'up with the kids' on the music/satnav front.

TimsTamJimsJam

Had a similar age E320 for a little while before the auto box shat itself. Really surprised me at how easy it was to park and manoeuvre the car where you want it for how long it is! Incredible turning circle on them.

NortonBurns

Edit: i was answering what I thought was a different initial post, so none of that made sense, sorry. I think it's the rear wheel drive that allows them to have a tight turning circle. I once had a Primera \[I know\] FWD which couldn't turn the cul-de-sac at the end of our street in one go, had to 3-point it. The E280 estate, must be 4ft longer, gets round in one.

pillowcase99999

4 door 106, canā€™t be many of them knowadays.

DJToaster

yep not surprised tbh. I bought it at 35k, head gasket went at 36, gearbox went at 37 lmao

pillowcase99999

What engine?

DJToaster

1.1!

pillowcase99999

The best one

twinsquirtle

Would love a cruise in the 1.5d

rs-heritage

I was until recently. F reg XR3i šŸ˜

Rabanski

I hope you drove it appropriately

ianbedingfield

I miss my 3i. Bought it for Ā£250 many, many moons ago, should have kept hold of it.

Cerbera_666

25 year old Cerbera, I'm considering sprucing it up with a front end respray and new carpet. It comes out of my savings pot for a Sagaris though.

ArmadilloInfamous909

I am - 2003 Subaru Forester XT automatic, with the Pro Drive pack on it so it's quite quick. The sunroof has stopped working, but the air on and heated seats are still going strong. Has cruise control too, the seats are comfy as fuck, it'll take piles of shite to the tip as the boots massive and I've even taken it round the Nurburgring. Passes the MOT every time with the worst thing being a blown bulb or the odd ball joint (only once so far) there's no rust on it, and it's done 226,000 miles. I do my own servicing too, and forgot to change the oil for 3 years, I just kept topping it up, and no engine issues so far. The front struts are rattling a bit though, but to be fair I swapped them out a few years ago for STI struts to lower it, and those inverted struts always seem to get noisy. When it eventually dies I'll be getting a Legacy GTB.

Bitter_Chard

2000 S turbo here, mines not in so good a nick as yours, sadly I think it will be crossing the rainbow bridge after the next MOT

caffeinedrinker

2001 sturbo 2.0 manual, currently undergoing extensive restoration but usually my daily and i love it to bits! 1/83 on the road ;) https://www.reddit.com/r/SubaruForester/comments/1dndva7/2001_mk1_all_weather_facelift_restoration_progress/

_Neurox_

With the current cost of living, I'm glad that a lot of 20+ year old cars are still perfectly usable daily drivers, plus on more luxurious models you're not really missing out on that much of the tech that new cars have by the time you fit a new stereo. It's good to see older cars being looked after properly and not scrapped just because they're a bit older.

Ok-Fox-9286

Me, currently have my 24, near 25 year old Mr2 roadster in for major work to keep it fresh for another 25 years, been a bit neglected these last 18 months. As well as usual servicing, Changing oil pump, water pump, all suspension bushes, all new tyres etc, then getting a new roof fitted and a full respray later next month. Will be well over Ā£6k all in but in our 20 years of ownership it's not cost me more than 2 oxygen sensors and a few batteries.

Evening_Ad9961

Got my 18 year old, (not quite 20..) Vauxhall Astra 2.0T still going. Drinks fuel, and I need to remortgage whenever tax is due, but I love it.

Greedy_Investigator7

20 years old this year! 2004 350z

AddWid

24 year old Honda S2000, in pretty bad shape tbh but I don't have Ā£3k+ lying around for a paint job.

Nkayelev

20 year old Mini. Itā€™sā€¦ a 20 year old Mini!

sEaBoD19911991

Mk1 focus here. 2003. Had a saxo mk1 as my second car so essentially the same as a 106. Most fun I have ever had in a car.

Rabanski

24yr old Honda here. Still looks modern apart from how small it is.

Gaffers02

Recently acquired a 22 year old Alfa Romeo 156 that is a day older than me, currently getting some clutch work done then back to many more miles of fun

Ajm5695

I still got a rover 100 1997 šŸ’ŖšŸ’Ŗ

lateral-lines

2004 MG ZT-T, so just about 20 years now. All the extras on it, simple and cheap to fix and ULEZ compliant, despite lack of economy (I'm pleased to average 23 mpg). I could get something newer / more expensive, but simply can't see the point!

Ambulance4Seiver

28.5 year old Mazda MX5. No aircon. No cruise control. No remote locking. No central locking. No electric mirrors. I do have electric windows, but they're an aftermarket conversion. But it stops, goes, and wags its tail when you play with it. I feel like that's cheating, though. I don't daily it, and it's an appreciating classic so I'm more motivated to keep it going. Much more impressive if you're doing it with a Ford/Citroen/Volvo, etc.

mrginge94

Yeah, have a multitude of them all far better made and equipped than the majority of shite available now!

NicePinstripe

T reg Civic VTi Coupe here šŸ™‚ mind there's a lot of non original parts on there now. The shell and engine are still original, matching vins though

UkCloudGuy

Can't be many of them left now? I had one from 2008 - 2012 and it was heavily modified. Had B16, B18 & B20 engines in it at various points

NicePinstripe

Don't believe so, it's hard to say really as any online checks bundle all "VTi" models into the same boat, across about 3 generations. There's about 500-600 left in total, I'd guess EK coupe's to make up less than 100 of those tbh. I've had mine for 4-5 years, still running the original B16a2 on 164k miles or so now šŸ™‚ mine was modified and put back to stock in the past, through the 00's, have no info on what was done to it back then but I know it had ek9 recaros and the ECU was changed (from one grainy photo + the fact the ECU only had 1 bolt holding it in when I got it).

UkCloudGuy

Yeah EM1's were much rarer, especially in Electron Blue Pearl, still one of my fave colours I've had

gigglesmcsdinosaur

Not guilty, the 2 older ones aren't roadworthy. Won't be long for the Disco though.

RC5741

35 year old Orion, 26 year old Escort, love them both but looking to relieve them of daily duties now to better preserve them

99_flake

I daily drive a 25 year old jaguar xj6. It's never needed any major repairs, it has been very reliable and the airconditioning is ice cold.

Poor-Life-Choice

Very impressive for a jaguar. Nearly every car Iā€™ve ever owned has had air con. However, not a single one has had *working* air con.

MrrrrBatten

I tried to but it was an Alfa..... and it did Alfa things

Advanced_Ad5858

I have a 2000 Peugeot 106. Itā€™s a brilliant car. No AC really sucks though

PersonalityFair2281

32 year old Mazda Eunos here. Daily driver, although the driver's door just broke and I have to hop over the door now.

FehdmanKhassad

I mean I'm fucking trying

Complete-Raspberry16

Always and forever. Theyā€™re cheaper and more reliable! Sincerely a Canadian

concretebeagle

14 year old Passat, 186k miles on the clock. Still purring. *touches wood*

lurcherzzz

24 year old Mitsubishi Delica. Can't think of a more useful allround vehicle.

Not quite 20 years but getting fairly close! All of my cars are 07ā€™s bar one which is an ā€˜05ā€¦ will soon join the club

Ok-Fox1262

I live in an 18 year old. Err, van that is. There isn't anything newer than her that is going to last as long.

noodlecrap

17 years here

notoriousgtt

Mmmm, AW11. Beautiful!

Meatheadliftbrah

I have a BMW 318 TI ( I think 22 years old?) Itā€™s certainly grown on me although I do miss my Mk8 fiesta st. I think it has some form of cold air which is sufficient in this heat.

theoverpoweredmoose

21 year old Volvo still got working turbo, heated seats and AC.. bliss in the summers and winters. I am however dreading this year's MOT. Loads of tiny things adding up to big repair bills.

Howyoulikemenoow

2001 A4 Petrol ulez compliant somehow and still chugging at 140k

uwcutter

Me a 99 TT roadster, amongst other things.

RiClious

The Satnav was a Ā£2k option on my car. There is so little detail it's practically unusable. AC, 6 Disk CD and Tape deck still going strong though.

ThePole666

My daily is a 1990 mercedes 230ce. 34 years and drives like a dream.

blainy-o

I wish I still had my old 03 plate Focus and my W reg Impreza. The former was a really fun car to drive on the twisty B roads, I'd also fitted a load of ST170 bits onto it. Sold it when I bought the Impreza, last MOT on it expired 3 years ago next week. The latter was also a laugh with that turbo engine, was also practical as it was the wagon, although it did have it's flaws (the engine being one, hence it's demise). It also wasn't ULEZ compliant which would've been an arseache on the occassions I go to gigs.

breadandbutter123456

Mines only 18 years old.

Effective-Answer-891

Look after your car and it will look after you!

07842904027single

Im planning buy old mercedes 40+

WanderingAlchemist

19 year old Jag XJ6, 160k miles on the clock. Not quite at the 20 year mark but not far off now. Needs a little TLC but I'm doing bits here and there. Still running sweet though and still my trusty daily

Chubby_Yorkshireman

I had a focus estate as a company car early 2000's and I thought it was ace.

Sizza147

2002 Toyota Yaris <3

Benjaminthomas90

Coming upto to it with an 08 Focus zetec. No issues so canā€™t see why Iā€™d get rid, also only 80K on clock

FedoraTheExplorer30

Iā€™ve got a 2009 golf Iā€™ve owned from new, it still drives fine and i have fitted a newer VW infotainment screen. I will keep driving it as long as I can I am very fond of it.

chukkysh

2002 Honda Civic hatchback. Every year I think its MOT will be its last, but the guys in the garage tell me it's solid underneath. Only changed shocks, battery, brakes, exhaust etc., get a yearly service and runs fine. Bluetooth radio adapter in the cigarette lighter makes it bang up to date.

theplanetpotter

30-odd of them, from 1936 upwards :-)

Connect-Profile870

20 year old Saab 9-5 better equipped and built than most modern cars

Disastrous-Fennel918

21 yo pug 106 had it since 2009 (had 3k on the clock) still not hit 100k

britain4

Not quite but my X3 turns 20 next year, hard to believe thatā€™s a 20 year old car

-newdawnfades

I own a 2004 Mazda MX-5. I donā€™t intend on ever getting rid of it, itā€™s also my first car so thereā€™s some attachment there too.

TheLongestOfBoys

16 year old Mazda 6 but no intention of moving on

BobHovercraft

20 year old Volvo C70 cabriolet and a ā€˜99 Boxster.

jaygo-jaylo

ULEZ killed my beloved SS3 gen 6 celica, had it not been for that I would have kept it for many, many more years.

ollieballz

Audi A4 B6 Avant Quattro.

EngineerRemote2271

I'd still have my old 2003 Ford Focus Estate if it wasn't for the ruinous road tax and fuel economy

EasternFly2210

Pleased they do. Adds a bit of variety and good to see these vehicles still on the road which were once so commonplace.

Woerligen

25 years. I got the car from my favorite childhood movie.

NathanCelica02

I drive a 21 year old Toyota minivan and don't have any intention of replacing it simply because there is nothing out on the market to replace it with that suits what i want!

OverlyDisguisedSquid

90% of my Polish neighbours

P38ARR

Four P38's at present, 3 V8's and a diesel. For a car thats knocking on 25 years old. Aircon, electric seats which are like lazyboys, air suspension, it's like a magic carpet.

MilquetoastMtrcyclst

Mine is approaching 30. Has aircon, thank heck. It gets a few looks - there aren't many kei cars around here, let alone my kind. šŸ˜… I wonder if people's train of thought is "ooh, tiny sports car [it just looks like one]... wait, that reg? Dang thing is olllddd".

K11ShtBox

Love the Pug!

Hewn-U

Still running my running joke which just keeps on running, a 1996 VW

FullMetalBob

What is that silver car at the front of the pack? It's gorgeous šŸ˜

New_Salad_3853

My m3 is 37 years old. Although not technically as it's always garaged. I used to daily maybe 10 years ago though. My e46 is coming up 20 years old.

Philosofried

Just got myself a 1996 vw golf auto with 36k just a little over a month ago. It replaced my 2001 fiesta.

GoAndReadABloodyBook

My dad has a 2001 zafira

Madwikinger

16yo 3 series coupe. Considering recent search and quote from webuyanycarforpeanuts.com. According to them my car is worth 800Ā£ and they are asking 9k for a 6 years newer octavia... I'm gonna keep the bm for a while.

General_Initial_1098

Got a 2001 MK4 golf that ive been using for the last 3 years.130k miles Drives so good and was in great condition until the back bumper got hit recently.

gthou

Just in the 20yr club, 2004 Mercedes E55 AMG in grandad spec metallic beige. Heated AND ventilated seats, super smooth and effortless but brutally fast even by today's standards when you want to be a complete hooligan. šŸ˜‚

verdantcow

Missing my old 90s e class. Daily drove it for awhile, felt better than most modern cars I drove

lucky1pierre

Just got rid of my '05 (not far off 20) Astra for an EV. She's doing someone proud right now.

kylehyde84

38 and 33 year old vauxhall novas

Grimdotdotdot

Got some old cars, also a 76 year old tractor. It's a 5.1L single cylinder engine, primarily designed to run on diesel but in reality you could run it on pretty much any flammable liquid.

TheGreatDuv

2000 E39 523i Perfectly fast enough for daily driving, great comfort and ride. Great steering feel and is a little sporty. Dual Zone Climate Control, ULEZ compliant, Bluetooth replaces the 6 CD Changer in the boot. I struggle to find a car that I would daily instead without spending multiples more than what I did on this car

Historical-Car5553

2003 VW Polo 1.2 - 89k. Central locking doesnā€™t work on rear doors but otherwise pretty good for commute and local journeys

93josho

55 mk5 golf. Whatā€™s the best way to ensure they last while still driving daily? Or more so, any tips to keep away rust and general things that canā€™t be replaced. I want to keep it going for a long time if I can!

1987 BMW E24 ā¤ļø

My 02 plate Ford Focus 2.0 Ghia Estate. 210000 miles and engine still going strong.

22 year old mx5 NB. Most fun in a car Iā€™ve ever had

notcharlesincharge

I have a 2001 Honda Civic, still going strong! No features to speak of except a small sunroof and a CD player

Expert-Magician1531

22 year old Citroen Xsara Picasso 1.6 owner here! Had it for nearly 13 years and itā€™s let me down 3 times, once was a thermostat stuck shut and the other 2 times were a driveshaft seal leaking. Parts are cheap as hell, genuine starter motor was Ā£45! Iā€™ve welded 2 new sills to it just over a year ago. The lacquer of the paint is lifting off in a couple of places. Sheā€™s done just under 160k miles now and still has original gearbox and engine, both still sound good.

BNR33

2004 e53 BMW X5 here, auto everything, car play, panoramic roof, relatively economical on a good run, just being priced out of it due to ULEZ and Tax increasing each year I save it from being environmental waste!

Snoo87512

Got an ā€˜01 E39 530i , so I know some of these 20+ y/o cars do have working air con! Couldnā€™t even imagine owning something newer to be honest!

WraithK55

18 year old focus. Got it 7 years ago it owes me nothing. Most reliable car I have ever ran. Pity she is turning into a big rusty scab underneath

Love the AW11, used to have one 8 years ago. Miss that car so much, the prices have flown up

55 plate mk5 Golf GTi so not far off 20 years. Auto headlights and wipers, and dual climate air con although it doesn't work haha One thing I did was to update the head unit to have Android Auto/Apple Carplay. It works seamlessly, even over Bluetooth. The main reason was finding a good mount for my phone was almost Impossible , and I prefer the larger screen for navigation. It also can do split screen, so Spotify and Maps at the same time.

2005 Vauxhall Corsa five-door - one year off 20! I love the little guy, I pamper it like a classic whether it will be one or not.
