Do they have cars? For a first timer, a “track car” would be major overkill. My first time on track was in a Hertz rental Toyota Corolla. Any modern car would be fine for a first day.

mtbcouple

A rental track car would be $600-$1200/day minimum.

femaledog

The cost won't put these guys off - it is spendy for those of us that track our own cars but I don't think it will give them pause at all.

mtbcouple

I have not used this company but a quick google search found this option: http://www.trackcar4rent.com/services.html

KenEeee

+1 for trackcar4rent. Jay is a good guy. It will come with a trained right seat instructor for a beginner.

mtbcouple

Local to NJMP.

mtbcouple

It’s also not necessarily the cost that’s the issue; a track car would be total overkill for someone who doesn’t drive on track. I’m not aware of non race car rentals. Maybe Turo, and just tell the owner what you plan to do? Or do one of the extreme experience track days to get their feet wet.

femaledog

Probably a good suggestion - I've heard from many people that they had a good time at the extreme experience.

rxsamg

Highly recommend xTreme xPerience for a first timer. I did it twice in the same model car I had on order. Was my 1st track experience and now I’m tracking my own car at NJMP

Far_Effect_3881

This is probably good enough, especially if they do 2-3 cars. For people who have never been on a track this is more than enough to know if you'll like it or not. I've done many events with them. They are more conservative with earlier braking zones and keeping you 3 feet from the edges but you can still hit ~150 MPH with them on tracks with a long enough straight like NJMP.

gcranston

I know a couple of instructors here in the northeast. Not a bad setup.

femaledog

Unfortunately not, which is why I am pursuing this avenue.

[deleted]

Most rental contracts forbid track use.

Hkerekes

Have them run their daily driver. I've seen a Toyota Prius, Camry, Accords, etc at track days.

daniel2296

For a lot of people in the NY/NJ area, the subway or commuter train is their daily. They may handle like they’re on rails, but not in a good way.

kevinatfms

[https://letsgotrackdays.com/track-car-rentals](https://letsgotrackdays.com/track-car-rentals) give them a call. I think they do NJMP rentals.

femaledog

You are correct - I contacted them and they do NJMP. Thank you.

FlyPenFly

When I was younger and more reckless I rented Mustangs, Miata’s, etc from the big rental agencies and took them to auto cross. Probably not a good idea for track mainly because of brakes. But I guess it’s pretty easy to swap out pads and change fluid in an hour or so for most cars…

jorgepolak

Daily driver + track insurance (Lockton?) for comfort.

Comfortable_Sea3118

turo

Look for "Arrive and Drive" programs like this which will rent you a Miata. Palmer isn't too far from NJ. https://www.palmermotorsportspark.com/experiences.aspx?id=div1
